Australian woman, 40, shot dead by police in United States

An Australian woman has been shot dead by police in Minnesota, after calling 911 to report a disturbance in a nearby alley. Justine Ruszczyk (pictured) was at home with her soon-to-be stepson when she called police to report a noise in a nearby alley in South Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Saturday. When police arrived at her home at around 11.30pm, 'one officer fired their weapon, fatally striking the woman' as she reportedly stood in her driveway. Ms Ruszczyk, 40, was originally from Sydney but had been living in the US for three years and was engaged to marry American businessman Don Damond, 50 (pictured together with her stepson center). They were due to marry next month.

Orphans that ISIS left behind in Mosul pulled from rubble

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES. Iraqi Army soldiers are combing through the rubble in Western Mosul's Old City in a bid to find survivors left behind by the Islamic State's evil reign of terror. During their search, the rescuers found two children crawling amid the rubble - with one of them, pictured, eating scraps of raw meat in a bid to stay alive. Another of the toddlers, a young girl named Amina, was found by soldiers when they heard her cries coming from beneath wreckage. She told the men that her parents were both 'martyrs' and were likely killed in a suicide bomb attack.

Investigator found in 1984 Seattle mayor abused foster son

In 1984, child welfare investigators wrote that Ed Murray (pictured left) had sexually abused his foster son Jeff Simpson (pictured right). The report (inset) was hidden by authorities for years but was unearthed on Sunday by The Seattle Times. Simpson, 49, is one of four men who have claimed since April his year that they were raped by Murray when they were teenagers. The men all say they were preyed on by the politician when they were drug-addicted teenagers.

Aaron Carter is claiming he was 'targeted' by police because of his fame after being arrested for a DUI Saturday night. His team also claims he 'wasn't even in the car' and there is 'footage' to prove it.

Legendary film and television actor, Martin Landau, died Saturday in California after a short hospitalization where he suffered unexpected complications. Landau was 89. Landau, who appeared in more than 200 films and TV shows, died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles after an illustrious career in show business. He leaves behind his ex wife, actress Barbra Bain, 85, and their daughters, actress Juliet Rose Landau, and Susan Landau Finch. As a Swiss army knife of acting, Landau showcased his versatility from his roles in Mission: Impossible the TV series and as a broken-down Bela Lugosi in his Oscar-winning performance in Ed Wood in 1994.

Curt von Badinski is the co-founder of successful, wearable technology brand Motiv - based in San Francisco. The only problem is, his home, is 400 miles away in Burbank, Los Angeles. Rather than move to the expensive, foggy, San Fran area - away from his elderly parents - the 42-year-old does an epic 800 mile round trip on a daily basis. His morning routine comprises of a 5am wake up call, before he jumps in his small sports car for the 15-minute drive to Bob Hope Burbank airport. There he boards a plane for the 90-minute flight to Oakland, where he picks up his hybrid car, waiting at the airport, and arrives at the office by 8.30am. When it's clocking off time at 5pm, Badinski gets back in his car, for another 400 mile journey, which typically sees him return home by 9pm.

Final photo sent by teen just before she was electrocuted

The last photo (pictured right) sent by the 14-year-old girl who was electrocuted while using her cell phone while in the bath has been released. Madison Coe (pictured), from Lovington, New Mexico, sent a text message to a friend along with a picture of her phone plugged into an extension cord just minutes before she died, police believe.  'When you use and (sic) extension cord so you can plug in your phone while you're in the bath,' the text read. Madison was at her father's house on July 9 when she was fatally electrocuted after touching a frayed extension cord she was using to charge her cell phone.

Indiana woman Sarah Cummins has donated her $30,000 wedding and full reception to her local homeless community, after her wedding was called off and she didn't want it to go to waste. Cummins, a 25-year-old Purdue University pharmacy student, said her ex-fiance, Logan Araujo, footed most of the bill for the wedding contract, with Cummins and her parents, along with one of Araujo's family friends, paying the rest. But after they called off the engagement, she decided not to throw away the plated dinner for 170 planned guests. Instead, she contacted homeless shelters in the area and invited them to attend the special party on Saturday.

Hank Madurkas Glass, a 13lb mini pig from New Orleans, with a big Instagram following has raised $4,000 for a food bank by participating in a rubber duck derby. The pig sponsored a team of rubber ducks in an event held by Second Harvest Food Bank. Each duck costs $5, and participants can donate additional money. Ultimately the event raised enough money to provide 12,000 meals.

A captivating video of  birds flying in formation and sweeping a beach somewhere in the United Kingdom. The footage, taken by a British photographer Stuart Rutherford, shows the birds flitting gracefully through the sky, seeming to put on a show for anyone watching. In the 14-second clip a flock of knot birds glide through the air quickly and smoothly in a way that is reminiscent of the waves in the ocean.
