Philippine cuisine (Filipino: Lutuing Pilipino or Pagkaing Pilipino) consists of the food, preparation methods, and eating customs found in the Philippines. The style of cooking and the food associated with it have evolved over many centuries from their Austronesian origins to a mixed cuisine of Malay, Indian, Spanish, Chinese, and American, as well as other Asian Indian cuisine adapted to indigenous ingredients and the local palate.
Dishes range from the very simple, like a meal of fried salted fish and rice, to the elaborate paellas and cocidos created for fiestas of Spanish origin. Popular dishes include: lechón (whole roasted pig), longganisa (Philippine sausage), tapa (cured beef), torta (omelette), adobo (chicken and/or pork braised in garlic, vinegar, oil and soy sauce, or cooked until dry), kaldereta (meat in tomato sauce stew), mechado (larded beef in soy and tomato sauce), puchero (beef in bananas and tomato sauce), afritada (chicken and/or pork simmered in a tomato sauce with vegetables), kare-kare (oxtail and vegetables cooked in peanut sauce), pinakbet (kabocha squash, eggplant, beans, okra, and tomato stew flavored with shrimp paste), crispy pata (deep-fried pig's leg), hamonado (pork sweetened in pineapple sauce), sinigang (meat or seafood in sour broth), pancit (noodles), and lumpia (fresh or fried spring rolls).

The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino: Pilipinas [ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.

In the last two years, Ryan Antonio’s family has been reaping a heaven-sent blessing of good health through organic agriculture (OA). As the nation once again observes Nutrition Month, the 36-year-old farmer looks for ways for his children to inherit the discipline that can help enhance the Philippines’ soil fertility, while ensuring farmers’ and consumers’ health and welfare, and most importantly, minimizing the destruction of the environment. “Bukod po sa nakakatulong ito sa pagdudulot sa amin ng pang-araw-araw naming konsumo ng gulay, napapanatili pa nitong malusog ang aming mga anak,” Antonio said in an interview with Manila Bulletin (MB) in Barangay Aulo, Palayan City in Nueva Ecija, where his family serves as stewards to an eight-hectare farm.

"Ang Metro Manila Flood Control Program ng Engineering Department ng Pasig City Hall ay isang proyekto na bubuuin upang alisin ang mga basura sa mga lugar na maaaring magdulot ng pagbaha. Ito rin ay upang makatulong sa paglipat sa mga informal settlers. Nais ng programang ito na maisagawa ang mga drainage, pumping stations, flood barriers, flood gates, dikes, dams, rivetment walls sa mga creeks at rivers sa buong Metro Manila." Intended as a documentary - And it is, but of what? Part 1 & 2 of three separate but related stories from Metro Manila. A colleagues partnership with World Vision Philippines; her courageous commitment to paying kindness forward. And an inspiring friend whose compassion & generosity was humbling. And an unexpected twist, being rushed by a knife wielding assailant?? It isn't always what it appears to be. Did i document my experiences, or just how i shared in the experiences of others. Or did it deliver on its intent? Did it tell a story of giving that changed lives for the better? Whether it tells that story well or not, the experience certainly changed mine. Hence from the Latin "Docere" for what I was taught on this journey. WEBSITE: http://www.videolux.org/ GOOGLE:https://plus.google.c...

In this short film, Halifax gardener Carol Bowlby harvests a mouth-watering crop from her small backyard plot. In considering soil quality, lack of space and a short growing season challenges rather than obstacles, she offers a wealth of practical growing tips for urban gardeners. By heeding Bowlby's advice, bountiful organic gardens work equally well on apartment balconies, in small or large city lots or in a rural setting. Directed by Polly Bennell - 1984
