Manila (i/məˈnɪl.ə/) is the capital city of the Philippines. It is the home to extensive commerce and seats the executive and judicial branches of the Filipino government. It also contains vast amount of significant architectural and cultural landmarks in the country. Manila is one of the sixteen cities that makes up Metro Manila, the National Capital Region of the Philippines. In 2012, Globalization and World Cities Research Network listed Manila as a global city.
Manila is on the eastern shore of Manila Bay. According to the 2010 census, Manila is the second most populous city in the Philippines with a population of 1,652,171. Manila is the most densely populated city in the world with 42,857 people per square kilometer.
Manila has six representative districts for the lower house of the Philippine Congress. Furthermore, the city is composed of 16 districts, namely: Binondo, Ermita, Intramuros, Malate, Paco, Pandacan, Port Area, Quiapo, Sampaloc, San Andres, San Miguel, San Nicolas, Santa Ana, Santa Cruz, Santa Mesa and Tondo.

The Philippines (i/ˈfɪlᵻpiːnz/; Filipino: Pilipinas [ˌpɪlɪˈpinɐs]), officially known as the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas), is a sovereign island country in Southeast Asia situated in the western Pacific Ocean. It consists of about 7,500 islands that are categorized broadly under three main geographical divisions: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The capital city of the Philippines is Manila and the most populous city is Quezon City; both are part of Metro Manila.
To the north of the Philippines across the Luzon Strait lies Taiwan; Vietnam sits west across the South China Sea; southwest lies Malaysia in the island of Borneo across the Sulu Sea, and to the south the Celebes Sea separates it from other islands of Indonesia; while to the east it is bounded by the Philippine Sea and the island-nation of Palau. Its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire and close to the equator makes the Philippines prone to earthquakes and typhoons, but also endows it with abundant natural resources and some of the world's greatest biodiversity. At approximately 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 sq mi), the Philippines is the 72nd-largest country in the world.
Lake View, or Lakeview, is one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, Illinois, located on the city's North Side. It is bordered by West Diversey Parkway on the south, West Irving Park Road on the north, North Ravenswood Avenue on the west, and the shore of Lake Michigan on the east. The Uptown community area is to Lake View's north, Lincoln Square to its northwest, North Center to its west and Lincoln Park to its south. The 2010 population of Lake View was 94,368 residents, making it the second largest of the Chicago community areas by population, following Austin which has 98,514 residents. Lake View, though, has a higher population density than the larger-in-area Austin neighborhood.
Lake View is unofficially divided into smaller neighborhood enclaves: Lakeview East, West Lakeview and Wrigleyville. Lakeview East contains the district known as Boystown, famous for its large LGBT population and the pride parade held each June. Wrigleyville, another popular district, surrounds Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. New Town, a name for the area centered at the intersection of North Clark Street and West Diversey Parkway, was a commonly encountered appellation in the 1970s and 1980s but has fallen into disuse. The Northalsted Merchants Association is centered on the North Halsted Street strip between West Belmont Avenue and West Irving Park Road on Halsted. In 2013 Money Magazine named Lake View as number 3 of its top 10 Big-city neighborhoods for its selection of Best Places to Live.
Metropolitan Manila (Filipino: Kalakhang Maynila, Kamaynilaan), commonly known as Metro Manila, the National Capital Region (NCR) of the Philippines, is the seat of government and the most populous region of the country which is composed of Manila, the capital city of the country, Quezon City, the country's most populous city, the Municipality of Pateros, and the cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela.
The National Capital Region has a population of 7007118559750000000♠11,855,975, making it the most populous region in the Philippines, as well as the 7th most populous metropolitan area in Asia. Its total urban area, referring to its continuous urban expansion into the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Batangas has a population of 7007241230000000000♠24,123,000, making it the 3rd most populous urban area in the world.
The region is the center of culture, economy, education, and government of the Philippines. NCR is one of the 12 defined metropolitan areas in the Philippines according to the National Economic and Development Authority. Designated as a global power city, NCR exerts a significant impact on commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, both locally and internationally. It is the home to all the consulates and embassies in the Philippines, thereby making it an important center for international diplomacy in the country.
Free range denotes a method of farming husbandry where the animals, for at least part of the day, can roam freely outdoors, rather than being confined in an enclosure for 24 hours each day. On many farms, the outdoors ranging area is fenced, thereby technically making this an enclosure, however, free range systems usually offer the opportunity for extensive locomotion and sunlight prevented by indoor housing systems. Free range may apply to meat, eggs or dairy farming.
The term is used in two senses that do not overlap completely: as a farmer-centric description of husbandry methods, and as a consumer-centric description of them. There is a diet where the practitioner only eats meat from free-range sources called ethical omnivorism, which is a type of semivegetarian.
In ranching, free-range livestock are permitted to roam without being fenced in, as opposed to fenced-in pastures. In many of the agriculture-based economies, free-range livestock are quite common.
If one allows "free range" to include "herding", free range was a typical husbandry method at least until the development of barbed wire and chicken wire. The generally poor understanding of nutrition and diseases before the twentieth century made it difficult to raise many livestock species without giving them access to a varied diet, and the labor of keeping livestock in confinement and carrying all their feed to them was prohibitive except for high-profit animals such as dairy cattle.

Almost a third of Filipinos work on farms, but most of them earn very little. Many leave the countryside and end up in urban slums. Rural development programs seek to slow or reverse that trend. Cherrie Atilano runs a farm for former slum-dwellers. At 'Enchanted Farm', each family has a house with running water and electricity. The adults learn new skills, and the children go to school. 3,252 pesos can bring you to a place above the cloud full of mysteries. Wanna know how? Here it goes! -How to get there from Manila? Take a bus that can bring you to Baguio. Leave Manila around 4 to 5 am so you can be at Baguio around 11am. I prefer taking Victory Liner because their buses depart every hour from their terminals in Manila, Cubao, Caloocan, and Pasay. Buses get full, especially during peak season. So be sure to reserve your ticket a day before your scheduled departure to guarantee yourself a seat. When you arrive at Baguio take a taxi going to GL/Lizardo Trans Station at Dangwa Terminal and ride a bus going to Botoc! From Baguio to Bontoc, it is a 5 to 6 hour journey. Take the 12:30pm or 1:30pm bus to Bontoc so you’ll catch the beautiful combination of colors in the sky ...

It's another backpacker's trip (maybe when we're older we'd travel more luxuriously) and we visit Philippines northernmost tip of land - Ilocos. It was a short four day adventure - mostly of beaches and falls. We loved the natural Kabigan falls the best, proved to be a very refreshing dip after a scorching day in the sun. We don't see much clear waters in our Manila rivers nowadays but the tributaries from the falls were pristine enough it was potable. Pagudbud beach, we love to return here. Quieter than Boracay but has that similar quintessential beach vibe. We prefer solitude now, not so much for parties and night outs. Again as our travel adventures dictate: we don't plan on anything. Literally drove to whichever terminal that has a destination for either Vigan or Laoag on the night (...
