The Western Hemisphere is a geographical term for the half of the earth that lies west of the prime meridian (which crosses Greenwich, UK) and east of the antimeridian, the other half being called the Eastern Hemisphere.
In this sense, the Western Hemisphere consists of the Americas, the western portions of Europe and Africa, the extreme eastern tip of Russia, numerous territories in Oceania, and a portion of Antarctica, while excluding some of the Aleutian Islands to the southwest of the Alaskan mainland.
In an effort to define the Western Hemisphere as the parts of the world which are not part of the Old World, there also exist projections which use the 20th meridian west and the diametrically opposed 160th meridian east to define the hemisphere. This projection excludes the European and African mainlands and a small portion of northeast Greenland, but includes more of eastern Russia and Oceania.
The population of the geographical Western Hemisphere exceeds 1 billion. Of the four hemispheres, only the Southern Hemisphere is less populated.

432 Park Avenue is a supertall residential building in midtown Manhattan, New York City, with 104 condominium apartments. It was developed by CIM Group. Originally proposed to be 1,300 feet (396 meters) in 2011, construction began in 2012, it was topped out on October 10, 2014 and completed on December 23, 2015. The building required the demolition of the 495-room Drake Hotel, which was built in 1926. In 2006, the hotel was sold for $440 million to developer Harry Macklowe, and the hotel was demolished the year afterward. The site became one of New York's most valuable development sites due to its location, between East 56th and 57th Streets on the west side of Park Avenue.
At a height of 1,396 ft (426 m), 432 Park Avenue is the third tallest building in the United States, and the tallest residential building in the world. It is the second tallest building in New York City, behind One World Trade Center, and ahead of the Empire State Building.
432 Park Avenue is the second-tallest building in New York City and is the tallest residential building in the western hemisphere. By mid-2018, 217 West 57th Street and 111 West 57th Street will be at a similar height. The tower has a footprint of approximately 33,000 square feet (3,100 m2). The building was officially topped out on October 10, 2014, making it the highest rooftop in the city.
Park Avenue is a wide New York City boulevard which carries north and southbound traffic in the borough of Manhattan, and is also a wide one-way pair in the Bronx. For most of the road's length in Manhattan, it runs parallel to Madison Avenue to the west and Lexington Avenue to the east. Park Avenue's entire length was formerly called Fourth Avenue; the title still applies below 14th Street. Meanwhile, the section between 14th and 17th Street is called Union Square East, and between 17th and 32nd Streets, the name Park Avenue South is used. In the Bronx, Park Avenue runs in several segments between the Major Deegan Expressway and Fordham Road.
Park Avenue was originally known as Fourth Avenue and carried the tracks of the New York and Harlem Railroad starting in the 1830s. The railroad originally ran through an open cut through Murray Hill, which was covered with grates and grass between 34th and 40th Street in the early 1850s. A section of this "park" was later renamed Park Avenue in 1860, which was afterwards applied to the area leading up to 42nd Street. When Grand Central Depot was opened in the 1870s, the railroad tracks between 56th and 93rd Streets were sunk out of sight and, in 1888, Park Avenue was extended to north of Grand Central.
The Western Hemisphere is a geographical term for the half of the Earth that lies west of the Prime Meridian (which crosses Greenwich, London, United Kingdom) and east of the Antimeridian, the other half being called the Eastern Hemisphere. While the Americas has yet to reach 1 billion people, the Western Hemisphere has reached this figure. Travel video about destination Nice in France. Nice is the Côte d'Azur's fascinating and colorful city located on the curve of Angel Bay, a metropolis that has lost little of its turn of the century charm. It is also a place of contrast with all the pulsating life of an international city mixed with the rich Mediterranean flair of the south. The magnificent Promenade Des Anglais was named after the resort's former large contingent of English visitors and was built during the 19th century. The historical centre of the city, Vielle Ville, has become the home of Arabian immigrants, thus couscous features prominently on the menu. The old fish market is the most beautiful on the entire Côte d'Azur and its traditional displays of seafood are a feast to the eye. The Russian Tsars also spent mu...
Travel video about destination Madinat Al-Zahra in Spain. A few kilometres outside the city of Córdoba in southern Spain lie the remains of a once legendary Moorish palace district, the Mahdinat Al-Zahra.It is believed that in around 936 A.D. the Moorish monarch, Abd Ar-Rahman The Third, ordered the construction of the huge residence. Work on the palace, the administrative sections and the gardens took more than forty years to complete. Over ten thousand workmen were involved in its construction but today little of the former splendour of this ‘Andalusian Versailles’ is apparent as only the mighty ruins of the former terraced palace have survived to the present day. Thanks to the intensive restoration and reconstruction work of recent years the buildings of the former Reception Hall provid...
Travel video about destination Death Valley. It is particularly during the hot summer months that Death Valley does full justice to its name. On some days the temperatures can reach up to forty-five degrees Celsius in the shade! Geographically Death Valley is a truly remarkable national park and Badwater is the deepest point in the entire western hemisphere. The shiny blue sky and impressive Sierra Nevada Mountain Range are two magnificent and colourful features of California's seemingly lifeless desert. The area around Badwater is studded with salt crystals. Its salt lake almost completely dries out during the summer due to the scorching heat. The bottom of the valley and the rocky slopes of the Panamint Mountains heat up the subsoil where temperatures of up to ninety degrees are quite com...

Travel video about nature park Death Valley in the USA. Situated in the USA, Death Valley derived its name during the gold rush that took place between 1848 and 1849, a time when hordes of pioneers journeyed to the west full of hope but where, in the seemingly never ending and merciless hot desert valleys, many frequently lost their cattle, their wagons and some even lost their lives. During the summer months the temperatures in Death Valley often exceed 45 degrees Celcius.A closer look confirms that Death Valley is an arid, desolate desert valley in which any visit should be treated with respect as the severe, unforgiving heat can prove fatal to those who travel unprepared. Badwater is the deepest point in the western hemisphere and is located 86 metres below sea level. The area that cont...
