Nanga Parbat
Nanga Parbat (literally, Naked Mountain ; Hindi: safe अनंग पर्बत ; Urdu: ننگا پربت [nəŋɡaː pərbət̪]) is the ninth highest mountain in the world at 8,126 metres (26,660 ft) above sea level. It is the western anchor of the Himalayas around which the Indus river skirts into the plains of Pakistan. It is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of the Pakistan and is locally known as 'Deo Mir' ('देओ मीर')('mir' meaning 'mountain').
Nanga Parbat is one of the eight-thousanders, with a summit elevation of 8,126 metres (26,660 ft). An immense, dramatic peak rising far above its surrounding terrain, Nanga Parbat is also a notoriously difficult climb. Numerous mountaineering deaths in the mid and early 20th century lent it the nickname "killer mountain". Along with K2, it has never been climbed in winter.
Location
Nanga Parbat forms the western anchor of the Himalayan Range and is the westernmost eight-thousander. It lies just south of the Indus River in the Diamer District of Gilgit–Baltistan in Pakistan. Not far to the north is the western end of the Karakoram range.

Parbat District
Parbat District (Nepali: पर्वत जिल्ला
Listen , is a hilly area of Nepal. It is a part of Dhaulagiri Zone and one of the seventy-five districts of Nepal, a landlocked country of South Asia. The district, with Kusma as its district headquarters, covers an area of 494 km² and has a population (2001) of 157,826.
It is the fourth smallest district of Nepal.
It is mainly famous for the Gupteshwor Cave, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims during Shivaratri. Patheshwori Temple is the most famous temple of Kushma located at Katuwa Chaupari of Kushma-13. Patheshwori Mandir has lots of sub-temples inside like Ram Janaki Mandir, Bhagawati, Devi, Hanuman, and others. Alapeshwor cave is also the famous cave of this district. It is also noted for the Dahere Deurali Temple, which is visited by thousands of pilgrims during Balachaturdanshai.The bridge in the high place also lies in this district.Recently the modi hydro project of 10 M.W. has been constructed.

"On Saturday night gunmen reportedly posing as police killed ten people at the Nanga Parbat base camp in the Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan. Nine tourists from China, the Ukraine and Lithuania died in the attack, along with one guide who's nationality has been variously described as Pakistani or Nepali. One Chinese survivor has been recovered. The attack is thought to have been carried out by Sunni militants, though reports vary as to the name of the group responsible. Breakfast at Rama Lake, Astore, Gilgit, Baltistan, Pakistan - Nanga Parbat
This video is part of a series of Videos I made in October 2011 during my visit to Pakistan. This is a beautiful morning at Rama lake which is a beautiful and renowned lake in the Himalayas at the footsteps of mighty Nanga Parbat (which is the 9th Highest mountain in the world at staggering 8126m). Rama lake attracts relatively less tourists due to remoteness and difficult access - its a blessing in disguise - as the place is still litterer. The idea was to picture Nanga Parbet which is clearly visible from the lake, however, the weather didn't allow much sighting. We had come down from Skardu after crossing deosai plains into a beautiful village/town called Astore. There is a beautiful PTDC Motel in Rama(town) where you can stay before hiking/driving to the lake in the morni...

Hello! This is the video of our trip to the Northern Areas of Pakistan covering the deadly Fairy Meadows track, Nanga Parbat base camp Hike, Rama Meadows and Lake, Deosai Plains, Sheosar Lake and Attabad Lake. The trip was a week long trip and cost us around $200/person. Following is a quick review of the places:
Some final verdicts:
-Karakorum Highway (KKH): A true Marvel of Engineering.
-KKH before Chilas: Probably the worst road you'll ever travel.
-Route to Fairy meadows: One hell of a scary track!
-Fairy Meadows: It truly has a touch of fairy tales to it!
-Nanga Parbat: It's Awesomely HUGE!
-Rama Meadows: The most serene place we visited.
-Route to Deosai: Serene!
-Gilgit: It's quite big and developed.
-Hunza: The best community of people we came accross.
-Attabad lake: It's an amazing gift from nature!
And now my favorite location!
DEOSAI!!!

Day 1
7:00pm Departure from Islamabad (NATCO Office)
Day 2
12:00 PM NATCO stop at Chilas
Took a taxi to Raikot bridge as NATCO stopped for one hour (we didn't have time)
2:00 Pm took a jeep from Raikot bridge towards tattu fairy Meadows
5:00PM start of Fairy Meadows Hike
7:00 PM reached Fairy Meadows ( This hike will normally take 3-4 Hours)
Day 3
8:00 AM Start of Nanga Parbat Base camp hike
5:00 PM came back to the fairy meadows hotel
Day 4
8:00 AM left Fairy Meadows
12 Pm reached Raikot bridge
5 PM reached PTDC motel Rama Meadows (Astore)
Day 5
8:00 AM left for Rama Lake and Deosai
6 PM came back to Astore from Deosai
Day 6
8:00 AM Left for Gilgit
3 PM Left for Hunza from Gilgit
5 PM Reached Attabad Lake in Hunza
8 PM came back from attabad Lake to Hunza
11 PM Left Hunza for Gilgit

"Gunmen burst into a hotel in northern Pakistan early Sunday, killing nine foreigners, the interior minister said. The victims were six Ukrainians and three Chinese, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told parliament on Sunday. He said a Chinese man managed to escape and is safe. "The attackers abducted two local guides and demanded they take them to where some foreigners are staying to carry out the attack," Khan said. "One (guide) was then killed, another escaped and has been detained by police for questioning." Earlier, officials said 10 foreigners had been killed. Authorities said the death toll changed due to difficult communications and the area's remote location..."

"On Saturday night gunmen reportedly posing as police killed ten people at the Nanga Parbat base camp in the Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan.
Nine tourists from China, the Ukraine and Lithuania died in the attack, along with one guide who's nationality has been variously described as Pakistani or Nepali. One Chinese survivor has been recovered.
The attack is thought to have been carried out by Sunni militants, though reports vary as to the name of the group responsible. The Pakistani Taliban have contacted the BBC to claim responsibility. It's also been claimed that the victims were robbed before being shot."

This video is part of a series of Videos I made in October 2011 during my visit to Pakistan.
This is a beautiful morning at Rama lake which is a beautiful and renowned lake in the Himalayas at the footsteps of mighty Nanga Parbat (which is the 9th Highest mountain in the world at staggering 8126m).
Rama lake attracts relatively less tourists due to remoteness and difficult access - its a blessing in disguise - as the place is still litterer.
The idea was to picture Nanga Parbet which is clearly visible from the lake, however, the weather didn't allow much sighting.
We had come down from Skardu after crossing deosai plains into a beautiful village/town called Astore.
There is a beautiful PTDC Motel in Rama(town) where you can stay before hiking/driving to the lake in the morning.
