A teenage father with 'DEVAST8' tattooed across his face is 'waiting for the right job offer' after his desperate plea for work went viral - and he has revealed he will be getting the jailhouse ink lasered off. Mark Cropp (left, centre and right, with his girlfriend) , 19, from New Zealand, took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to beg someone to look past his criminal convictions and heavily-tattooed face and give him a chance at work. Within hours he had been inundated with job offers and said he had 'stopped counting when he reached 45'. But he told Daily Mail Australia he still hadn't 'done a day's work'. 'I am just waiting for the right one to come about,' he said. The former criminal revealed he will be getting the artwork - designed by his brother after a night of drinking home brew in jail - removed as soon as possible.

Military to take charge of attacks on Australian soil

Australia's military will be able to take control during terror attacks on home soil under sweeping changes to national security. The Turnbull government is set to announce a terror law overhaul that would allow troops to take over from state police during extremist attacks, both Fairfax and News Corp report. Under the changes, certain state police teams would get specialist SAS training and could even have military personnel embedded to improve communications between the agencies. Currently defence forces can only be deployed if state police are unable to respond to the level of the threat.

Thredbo survivor Stuart Diver has spoken of his darkest moments while trapped in the landslide, and has reflected on his life, losing two wives and raising his daughter, 20 years on from the disaster. Diver was the only person to emerge alive from the rubble when two ski lodges were crushed by a landslide at the popular resort in July 1997. His wife Sally was one of 18 people who died. He told 60 Minutes there were times while he was trapped when he considered taking his own life. 'The human mind is an amazing thing, it just turned it around and it was a case of 'no, you're not ready to go',' he said.

After numerous surgeries in Thailand, Mr Markides is now facing the decision of having to fly back to Australia with his leg stabilised to receive specialist medical attention. A Go Fund Me page has been set up for the couple who are facing huge costs, after their travel insurance company refused to pay for their bills and flight home.

A scooter driver was lucky not to be seriously injured after a truck ploughed straight into the back of him at a Sydney intersection when the heavy vehicle appeared not to see him when taking off at a green light. The rider appeared to be glancing downwards and was slow off the mark and the truck drove through like it wasn't there, pushing it violently forward and wedging it between the moving truck and a car. Triple D Wildlife Farm's bear uses tree trunk to scratch

He may be one of the world's most feared hunters, weighing in at 1,000 lb, but Bruno (pictured) the grizzly bear just loves to entertain. And for visitors to the Triple D Wildlife Farm in Montana in the US, where he lives in captivity, five-year-old Bruno has perfected an impersonation of his hero, Baloo from The Jungle Book (inset). Just like the Disney character, Bruno likes nothing better than to use a handy tree trunk for a good back scratch, as these pictures by US wildlife photographer Shayne McGuire show.

Franco Banfi captures sperm whales sleeping vertically

Franco Banfi, 58, caught the magnificent creatures around 65ft underwater as well as his partner, free diver Sabrina, 51, just off the coast of the Caribbean island Dominica. The 40ft long sperm whales, known to be quite social, spend around seven per cent of their time sleeping and nap vertically for six to 25 minutes - in this case it was ten.
