This is a list of diplomatic missions of the People's Republic of China. The People's Republic of China has a large diplomatic network, representing the country's significant economic, commercial, political, cultural and military links around the world. Its largest diplomatic mission is to Pakistan.
For over fifty years the PRC has been competing with the Republic of China for diplomatic recognition in the international community. Until the 1970s, most countries in the world recognised the Republic of China instead of the People's Republic of China. As of 2008, a small number of states have full diplomatic relations with the ROC (see Republic of China diplomatic missions); the ROC maintains unofficial relations with most states.
There are a total of 370 diplomatic missions of the People's Republic of China across 170 countries worldwide. Honorary Consulates are excluded from the lists below.
Chinese can refer to:
A film festival is an organized, extended presentation of films in one or more cinemas or screening venues, usually in a single city or region. Increasingly, film festivals show some films outdoors. Films may be of recent date and, depending upon the festival's focus, can include international and domestic releases. Some festivals focus on a specific film-maker or genre (e.g., film noir) or subject matter (e.g., horror film festivals). A number of film festivals specialise in short films of a defined maximum length. Film festivals are typically annual events. Some film historians do not consider Film Festivals as official releases of film, like Jerry Beck. The best known film festivals are the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Toronto Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival, the latter being the largest film festival worldwide, based on attendance. The Venice Film Festival is the oldest major festival. The Melbourne International Film Festival is the largest film festival in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the oldest in the world. A 2013 study found 3,000 active films festivals worldwide—active defined as having held an event in the previous 24 months.
A diplomatic mission is a group of people from one state or an international inter-governmental organisation (such as the United Nations) present in another state to represent the sending state/organisation officially in the receiving state. In practice, a diplomatic mission usually denotes the resident mission, namely the office of a country's diplomatic representatives in the capital city of another country. As well as being a diplomatic mission to the country in which it is situated, it may also be a non-resident permanent mission to one or more other countries. There are thus resident and non-resident embassies.
A permanent diplomatic mission is typically known as an embassy, and the head of the mission is known as an ambassador, or high commissioner. The term "embassy" is commonly used also as a section of a building in which the work of the diplomatic mission is carried out, but, strictly speaking, it is the diplomatic delegation itself that is the embassy, while the office space and the diplomatic work done is called the Chancery. Therefore, the Embassy is in the Chancery.
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

On March 2, 2017, I filmed video footage outside of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in San Francisco. Neither Consulate Officials nor the Security Guard understood or seemed at all concerned with the right of the people to take pictures and video from a public sidewalk. When I called the Consulate to discuss the issue, I was unable to speak with anyone that spoke fluent English. They referred me to another phone number which answered with a generic voicemail greeting. Upon contacting Armada Security, I spoke with a friendly gentleman by the name of Mike. He said that while he could not tell me what the Chinese Consulate knows or does not know about the First Amendment, he was well aware of the fact that people can take pictures and video in public, and said that h...

English/Nat U-S President Bill Clinton has commented on the bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade, calling the incident 'tragic' and said he expressed his utmost condolences to the Chinese government. The president was speaking on Saturday at Tinker Air Force base in Oklahoma, where he toured the scenes of devastation left by killer tornadoes which levelled cities there last week. Clinton bristled at reporter's questions saying some countries were calling the act 'barbaric,' - a term Clinton said only applied to the atrocities Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic has carried out against the Kosovar Albanians. In response to a day full of protests in China over the bombing, Clinton said people had a right to be angry and that he too was upset over the attack. Bu...
In remarks that must be very reassuring to India, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay has ruled out the possibility of his government permitting China to open its embassy in Thimpu. "There is no question of Chinese embassy in Bhutan, Mr Tobgay told NDTV a day after Narendra Modi concluded his first-ever foreign visit as India's new Prime Minister. There have been concerns in India over China's attempts to establish diplomatic ties with Bhutan. Watch more videos: http://www.ndtv.com/video

In a remarkable show of solidarity with the mainland, a small group of demonstrators gathered outside the American consulate in Taipei on Monday. About 60 demonstrators in Taiwan put political animosity aside on Monday, joining hands in solidarity with mainland China against NATO's bombing of the Chinese embassy in Yugoslavia. SOUNDBITE: (Mandarin) "We are all Chinese. The mainland Chinese are Chinese just as we are also Chinese. This is justice for the Chinese. Why should the Americans be allowed to bully like this?" (10 Mar 2017) Tibetan protesters clashed with police outside the Chinese embassy in New Delhi on Friday as they tried to enter the high-security complex. The protest was held to mark the Tibetan national uprising day. Protesters shouting anti-China slogans were detained, forcibly pushed into vehicles and taken away by police. In 1959, on this day, hundreds of Tibetans rose against the Chinese occupation of Tibet. The uprising was quelled by the Chinese army forcing the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama and his followers into exile in India. China claims Tibet has been part of its territory for centuries. Tibetans say the Himalayan region was virtually independent until China occupied it in 1950. You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata...

On 3 June, 2014, in response to the Jamaican Government's plans to sell Goat Islands, part of the Country's largest Protected Area, to a Chinese conglomerate to build a massive Transshipment port, we projected images and strong messages onto the Jamaican Embassy in Washington, DC.

Presenter: David Roxburgh When: June 21, 2014 Where: Shangri La The lecture examines an embassy that left Herat, Afghanistan, in December 1419, and traveled through Central Asia and China to Beijing with the return journey concluding in August 1422. It was one of several exchanges orchestrated between Timurid ruler Shahrukh (r. 1409-47) and Ming dynasty emperor Yongle (r.1402-24). Ghiyath al-Din, an artist sent by Shahrukh's bibliophile son Baysunghur, recorded the details of the journey describing the movement of the embassy through changing landscapes and Chinese cities, art, architecture, and the ceremonial life of the Ming imperial palace. Futhermore, the lecture examines the journal as a source, the journey it narrates and considers the consequences of increased access to Chinese art...
Some have already forgotten the tragic event, but the Chinese Embassy (former) in Belgrade (ex-Yugo) was bombed back in 1999. Was it a stray missile? Was the bombing a calculated attempt by the US and its NATO allies to snub the Chinese and demonstrate to the Yugoslavians and Slobo that American power in a post-Cold War context was as inevitable as the rising tide? We're left with plenty of questions and not many reliable answers as we look back on the event, now more than a decade old.
Held May 7, 2011 at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Washington, DC Honoring Maestro Placido Domingo.

After initially denying and calling it "fake news", the Congress on Monday admitted that party Vice President Rahul Gandhi did meet the Chinese Ambassador Luo Zhaohui last week, seeking to put to rest a controversy over the meeting. "Various ambassadors and envoys keep meeting Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi from time to time on courtesy basis, particularly those of G5 nations as also of the neighbouring countries...be it Chinese ambassador or Bhutanese ambassador or former NSA Shiv Shankar Menon," party spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said. Interestingly, hours earlier Surjewala had tweeted denying such a meeting between Gandhi and the Chinese envoy when some news channels went on air with the report. He had alleged in the morning that the report was "...
