World news

World news or international news or even foreign coverage is the news media jargon for news from abroad, about a country or a global subject. For journalism, it is a branch that deals with news either sent by foreign correspondents or news agencies, or — more recently — information that is gathered or researched through distance communication technologies, such as telephone, satellite TV or the internet.

Although in most of the English-speaking world this field is not usually regarded as a specific specialization for journalists, it is so in nearly all the world. Particularly in the United States, there is a blurred distinction between world news and "national" news when they include directly the national government or national institutions, such as wars in which the US are involved or summits of multilateral organizations in which the US are a member.

Actually, at the birth of modern journalism, most news were actually foreign, as registered by the courants of the 17th century in West and Central Europe, such as the Daily Courant (England), the Nieuwe Tijudinger (Antwerp), the Relation (Strasbourg), the Avisa Relation oder Zeitung (Wolfenbüttel) and the Courante Uyt Italien, Duytsland & C. (Amsterdam). Since these papers were aimed at bankers and merchants, they brought mostly news from other markets, which usually meant other nations. In any case, it is worthy to remark that nation-states were still incipient in 17th-century Europe.

Hot Boys

The Hot Boys (often styled as Hot Boy$) is an American hip hop group active from 1996 to 2001 then reformed in 2007 and is currently on hiatus. The group consists of rappers formerly and currently on the New Orleans-founded record label, Cash Money Records. The members are Lil Wayne, Juvenile, B.G. and Turk.

History

The members of the group were rappers, Lil Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, Bulletproof (deceased), Turk. Bulletproof left the group soon after the formation to pursue a solo career, though he was still featured on many of the group's earliest songs. The Hot Boys made their first official appearance together on B.G.'s third studio album, It's All on U, Vol. 1. They soon released their debut album entitled, Get It How U Live!, which sold over 300,000 copies primarily in New Orleans. The album charted nationally as well at 37 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart.

In 1998, Cash Money Records agreed to a $30 million pressing and distribution contract with Universal Records. This led to releases such as 400 Degreez by Juvenile, which was certified 4x Platinum by the RIAA. The Hot Boys made numerous appearances on many of the albums' tracks such as, "Back That Azz Up" featuring Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh, and "Ha", where the Hot Boys were featured in the music video. The album also contained a remix of "Ha" featuring the Hot Boys. The Hot Boys appeared on both Lil Wayne and B.G.'s albums in 1999, Tha Block Is Hot, by Lil Wayne, and, Chopper City In The Ghetto, by B.G.. Both albums were certified Platinum. The group also released singles such as, "Bling Bling" and "Cash Money Is An Army" by B.G., "Tha Block Is Hot" and "Respect Us" by Lil Wayne, and "U Understand" and "I Got That Fire" by Juvenile.

Clint Crisher

Clint Crisher (born January 23, 1973) is an American pop singer and songwriter. He is believed to be the first American R&B or pop singer to be openly gay from the beginning of his career.

Biography

Crisher was born on January 23, 1973 in Enterprise, Alabama to a Christian family. His mother, Brenda, was of French Canadian descent, and his father, Glen Peacock, is a first-generation Italian American. The Peacock family originated from London, England; his mother worked as a Las Vegas dancer. Crisher was raised in Jacksonville, Florida by his sister.

Career

After graduating from high school in Fernandina Beach, Florida, Crisher studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville. He transferred colleges and received his BA from Jacksonville University. Living in Washington, DC, Crisher began performing his own original music regularly in local D.C. clubs and events including the Velvet Nation party at Nation, Tracks, Millennium at the 9:30 Club, Ozone, The Capitol Ballroom,and Cobalt and in NYC nightclubs Metronome, Avalon, Splash, Webster Hall, Starlight, and Home. Crisher performed along major DJ's and club promoters saw him and started hiring him for larger performances. His career as a dance performance artist and club personality began in Washington, DC, continued in Miami at Crobar and eventually landed him in Los Angeles. Crisher performed on the main stage with the United States Capitol building in the background for the 1999 and 2003 Capital Pride annual LGBT pride festival in Washington, D.C. with over 150,000 attendees and also in July 2002 Crisher performed as part of the Billboard Dance Music Summit.

In a theological context, world usually refers to the material or the profane sphere, as opposed to the celestial, spiritual, transcendent or sacred. The "end of the world" refers to scenarios of the final end of human history, often in religious contexts.

World history is commonly understood as spanning the major geopolitical developments of about five millennia, from the first civilizations to the present.

World population is the sum of all human populations at any time; similarly, world economy is the sum of the economies of all societies (all countries), especially in the context of globalization. Terms like world championship, gross world product, world flags etc. also imply the sum or combination of all current-day sovereign states.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, often abridged as Last Week Tonight, is an American late-night talk and news satire television program airing on Sundays on HBO in the United States and HBO Canada, and on Mondays (originally Tuesdays) on Sky Atlantic in the United Kingdom. The half-hour long show premiered on Sunday, April 27, 2014, and is hosted by comedian John Oliver. Last Week Tonight shares some similarities with Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, where Oliver was previously featured as a correspondent and fill-in host, as it takes a satirical look at news, politics and current events on a weekly basis.

Oliver has said that he has full creative freedom, including free rein to criticize corporations. His initial contract with HBO was for two years with an option for extension. In February 2015, it was announced that the show has been renewed for two additional seasons of 35 episodes each. Oliver and HBO programming president Michael Lombardo have discussed extending the show from half an hour to a full hour and airing more than once a week after Oliver "gets his feet under him".
