More information on Crimea’s land conflict between Russian Federation and Ukraine – Land conflicts are often widely debated and can have disastrous effects on individuals, groups and entire nations. As Kids LearningTube, it’s my mission to teach those of all ages the facts and I do not have a personal opinion nor the authority to speak on behalf of territorial rights no matter how emotionally charged or justified the dispute of parties involved. With this said, below are some facts about Crimea since there’s international debate of whether it rightfully is part of the Russian Federation or Ukraine.
In recent history (“History of Crimea,” 1), Crimea became an oblast first of the Russian SSR (1945-1954) and then the Ukranian SSR (1954 - 1991). Since 1991 the territory was covered within independent Ukraine. During the 2014 Crimean crisis, the peninsula was taken over by pro-Russian forces and a referendum on whether to join Russia was held (“Crimean Status Referendum, 2014” 2), which resulted in Crimea being annexed by the Russian Federation. Since the annexation, there has been much debate of whether this is condemned or supported by the international community. At the 2014 UN General Assembly in 2014, 100 countries voted in favor of the position that Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territory was illegal under international law, 48 countries abstained from voting, and 10 countries backed the Russian Federation (“From A to Z: These are the 10 countries backing Putin’s annexation of Crimea,” 3).
The Russian Federation opposes the “annexation” label, with Putin defending the referendum as complying with the principle of self-determination of peoples. In July 2015, Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Crimea had been fully integrated into Russia (“Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation,” 4)

The riot began in the morning of May 13 and was finally quelled by the military on May 15. More information on Crimea’s land conflict between Russian Federation and Ukraine – Land conflicts are often widely debated and can have disastrous effects on individuals, groups and entire nations. As Kids LearningTube, it’s my mission to teach those of all ages the facts and I do not have a personal opinion nor the authority to speak on behalf of territorial rights no matter how emotionally charged or justified the dispute of parties involved. With this said, below are some facts about Crimea since there’s international debate of whether it rightfully is part of the Russian Federation or Ukraine.
In recent history (“History of Crimea,” 1), Crimea became an oblast first of the Russian SSR (1945-1954) and then the Ukranian SSR (1954 - 1991). Since 1991 the territory was covered within independent Ukraine. During the 2014 Crimean crisis, the peninsula was taken over by pro-Russian forces and a referendum on whether to join Russia was held (“Crimean Status Referendum, 2014” 2), which resulted in Crimea being annexed by the Russian Federation. Since the annexation, there has been much debate of whether this is condemned or supported by the international community. At the 2014 UN General Assembly in 2014, 100 countries voted in favor of the position that Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territory was illegal under international law, 48 countries abstained from voting, and 10 countries backed the Russian Federation (“From A to Z: These are the 10 countries backing Putin’s annexation of Crimea,” 3).
The Russian Federation opposes the “annexation” label, with Putin defending the referendum as complying with the principle of self-determination of peoples. In July 2015, Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Crimea had been fully integrated into Russia (“Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation,” 4)

My friends and I have been traveling through Indonesia for one month. We visited Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok and the Gili islands. I think Indonesia is truly an amazing country to visit. We started on the island Sumatra where we went to Bukit Lawang, situated in the northern part of Sumatra. This place is well known for it’s jungle with still loads of wild orangutans! Doing a jungle trekking is really amazing since you have a very big chance of seeing wild orangutans. We saw loads and they even came up to us and grabbed us; unreal! Furthermore we’ve also been on lake Toba for a couple of days. A beautiful lake with an island in the middle. It was nice to relax for some days. A Year of Travel
In 2013 I went for a Travel. For 7 months I filmed a lot of beautiful waves and surfed a couple myself in amongst travelling to all sorts of cities. I met a tonne of great people and saw some amazing places in both Europe and Indonesia-time has passed and I never put this up. I've never liked showing off other peoples waves but all of these places are well and truly known about these days and I think it's a shame not to show people what's out there! In this movie from our trip through Indonesia, you will see all kinds of highlights from Java and Bali. After landing in Jakarta we quickly go to Gunung Halimun National Park. We stay at home with a local guide and visit a tea plantation, a tea factory and of course the surrounding jungles. It takes us 2 days to get from Citalahab (in Halimun) to get to Pangandaran beach. Here we learn to surf, take a swim in the Green Valley and visit a traditional Wajang puppet maker. From Pangandaran we head to Yogyakarta by train and visit the Borobudur temple. From Yogyakarta we travel to the magnificent Bromo volcano and its surroundings, followed by the even more stunning Ijen volcano. On our trip through Indonesia, we travelled by train from Pangandaran via Banjar to Yogyakarta. There we had a nice hotel with a view on the Borobudur. We had a fantastic guide, Joey, who knew a lot about the temple and it's history. It's sad that the Borobudur isn't one of the 7 miracles anymore, because it's truly remarkable! In the heart of Jakarta’s old town is Fatahillah Square, home to Jakarta’s best heritage architecture and more fine museums, such as the Jakarta Historical Museum, the Wayang Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics.
After you’ve explored the museums around Fatahilla Square, pull up a chair at Café Batavia. Then take a boat ride around Sunda Kelapa and see traditional Makassar Schooners unloading and resupplying for inter-island voyages.
When it’s time to take a break from the non-stop bustle of Jakarta, embark on a nautical adventure of your own and explore the Pulau Seribu National Park.
Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands. To sample them all in a single day, head to Taman Mini, a theme park that brings the entire archipelago to Jakarta.

My friends and I have been traveling through Indonesia for one month. We visited Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok and the Gili islands. I think Indonesia is truly an amazing country to visit.
We started on the island Sumatra where we went to Bukit Lawang, situated in the northern part of Sumatra. This place is well known for it’s jungle with still loads of wild orangutans! Doing a jungle trekking is really amazing since you have a very big chance of seeing wild orangutans. We saw loads and they even came up to us and grabbed us; unreal! Furthermore we’ve also been on lake Toba for a couple of days. A beautiful lake with an island in the middle. It was nice to relax for some days.
After Sumatra we flew to Yogyakarta were (obviously) we’ve visited the stunning Borobudur temple. We’ve not seen much more there because the day after we were gonna head to the east of Java, Banyuwangi, where you can find the awesome Ijen volcano. In the night we started climbing the volcano and after some time you will see this beautiful crater and the famous ‘blue fire’. Once down the crater, it started to become light and slowly the sky turns in all these beautiful colors while the sun is coming up. It’s only then you start seeing the beautiful light blue lake and the yellow colors in the crater. It was such nice experience!
After Java we went to Lombok by boat and bus. Were we stayed in Kuta, this really chilled surfer hotspot. From there we rented a scooter and drove around Lombok. We also had a nice day at the beach of Selong Belanak. After spending some days on Lombok we took the boat to the Gili islands, the island Gili Trawangan (the party island) to be precies. These islands are close to the northwest of Lombok. Three beautiful small islands surrounded with nice blue water. Ideal for snorkeling trips or diving. But I have to say that I did not like the way they treat the horses on the islands that are used for transport all over. It’s just really sad! Please do not support this kind of transportation if you are there.
After the Gili’s I unfortunately had to say goodbye to my friends and I hopped on the boat to Bali, where a bus drove me to Kuta. Although it’s quite a touristy place, I really enjoyed it over there. Kuta beach is just amazing, with perfect surfer waves rolling in the whole day. Unfortunately I could only spend like three days on Bali, so I only stayed in the Kuta area. But I will definitely go back to Bali to see the whole island!
I really enjoyed my travels through Indonesia. Friendly people everywhere and just amazingly nature and beautiful culture. I will be back!

In 2013 I went for a Travel. For 7 months I filmed a lot of beautiful waves and surfed a couple myself in amongst travelling to all sorts of cities. I met a tonne of great people and saw some amazing places in both Europe and Indonesia-time has passed and I never put this up. I've never liked showing off other peoples waves but all of these places are well and truly known about these days and I think it's a shame not to show people what's out there! Made me quite nostalgic thinking about this year that seems so long ago now. Enjoy some waves in Indonesia, Scotland, Iceland, Ireland and in my homeland Tasmania. After landing in Jakarta we quickly go to Gunung Halimun National Park. We stay at home with a local guide and visit a tea plantation, a tea factory and of course the surrounding jungles.
It takes us 2 days to get from Citalahab (in Halimun) to get to Pangandaran beach. Here we learn to surf, take a swim in the Green Valley and visit a traditional Wajang puppet maker.
From Pangandaran we head to Yogyakarta by train and visit the Borobudur temple.
From Yogyakarta we travel to the magnificent Bromo volcano and its surroundings, followed by the even more stunning Ijen volcano.
After these long days we have some relaxing time on the route to Sukamade. In the evening we found a turtle on the beach laying eggs and visited the Turtle Hatchery.
At last, we arrive at paradise, Bali!! 4 days of relaxing, diving and snorkeling. From our lovely stay the Reef Seen hotel we have a truly remarkable reef in front of us.

Mimpi Indah Resort was just incredible. No crowds, no noise unless you count the animals I kept asking what made that new strange sound, or the crashing tiny waves on the pristine private shore, or the unbelievable diving.

Jakarta Riots May 12-14, 1998
In May 1998 there was a riot in Jakarta, Indonesia, in which about 1,500 people died and 4,000 buildings were damaged, burned, or totally destroyed. The riot began in the morning of May 13 and was finally quelled by the military on May 15. The riot spread all through Jakarta where the most severe damage was in the west, central, east, and north districts.

With this said, below are some facts about Crimea since there’s international debate of whether it rightfully is part of the Russian Federation or Ukraine.
In recent history (“History of Crimea,” 1), Crimea became an oblast first of the Russian SSR (1945-1954) and then the Ukranian SSR (1954 - 1991). Since 1991 the territory was covered within independent Ukraine. During the 2014 Crimean crisis, the peninsula was taken over by pro-Russian forces and a referendum on whether to join Russia was held (“Crimean Status Referendum, 2014” 2), which resulted in Crimea being annexed by the Russian Federation. Since the annexation, there has been much debate of whether this is condemned or supported by the international community. At the 2014 UN General Assembly in 2014, 100 countries voted in favor of the position that Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territory was illegal under international law, 48 countries abstained from voting, and 10 countries backed the Russian Federation (“From A to Z: These are the 10 countries backing Putin’s annexation of Crimea,” 3).
The Russian Federation opposes the “annexation” label, with Putin defending the referendum as complying with the principle of self-determination of peoples. In July 2015, Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Crimea had been fully integrated into Russia (“Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation,” 4)
