Um Berufsanfängern und allen Musikinteressierten einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Musikindustrie zu ermöglichen und zu zeigen, welche Personen an dem kreativen Schaffensprozess von der Produktion bis zur Veröffentlichung eines Songs beteiligt sind, hat der Bundesverband Musikindustrie e. V. (BVMI) neue Filme aus der Serie „Berufsbilder im Musikbusiness" produzieren lassen.
In sieben Kurzfilmen geben Profis aus der Musikbranche einen Einblick in ihr Berufsleben, erklären, wie ihr Arbeitsalltag aussieht, was typisch für ihr Berufsbild ist, welche Kenntnisse und Fähigkeiten musikbegeisterte Berufsanfänger mitbringen sollten und wie sie den Einstieg schaffen können.
Interviewt wurden Jörg Koshorst (A&R-Manager;, Valicon Entertainment), Katja Kuhl (Musikvideoregisseurin), Michelle Leonard (Singer/Songwriterin), René Rennefeld (Musikproduzent, Hansa Tonstudio GmbH), Ralf Schroeter (Künstlermanager, Sound'n Scripture), Johannes Wagner (CD-/DVD-Operator, Optimal Media Production) und Patci Weil (Booker, Wilde Agency).
Verantwortlich für die Produktion zeichnete die Berliner Firma Watchmen Productions, die Regie führte Sebastian Purfürst (Lem-Studios).

Artists and repertoire
Artists and repertoire (A&R) is the division of a record label or music publishing company that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists and songwriters. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label or publishing company; every activity involving artists to the point of album release is generally considered under the purview, and responsibility, of A&R.
Responsibilities
Finding talent
The A&R division of a record label is responsible for finding new recording artists and bringing those artists to the record company. Personnel in the A&R division are expected to understand the current tastes of the market and to be able to find artists that will be commercially successful. For this reason, A&R people are often young and many are musicians, music journalists or record producers.
An A&R executive is authorized to offer a record contract, often in the form of a "deal memo": a short informal document that establishes a business relationship between the recording artist and the record company. The actual contract negotiations will typically be carried out by rival entertainment lawyers hired by the musician's manager and the record company.

Interscope Records
Interscope Records is an American record label. It is a division of Interscope Geffen A&M Records, whose parent company is the Universal Music Group, a subsidiary of Vivendi S.A.
Interscope was founded in 1989 by Jimmy Iovine and Ted Field as a $20 million joint venture with Time Warner's Atlantic Records. At the time, it differed from most record companies by giving decision-making authority to its A&R staff, and allowing artists and producers complete creative control. It had its first hit records less than a year after it was founded and achieved profitability in 1993.
In 1992, Interscope acquired the exclusive rights to market and distribute the hardcore rap label Death Row. Albums by Death Row artists including 2Pac, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Doggy Dogg were at the center of the mid-'90s gangsta rap controversy, and as a result, Time Warner severed ties with Interscope by selling its 50 percent stake back to Field and Iovine for $115 million in 1995. In 1996, 50% of the label was acquired by the MCA Music Entertainment Group for a reported $200 million.

Um Berufsanfängern und allen Musikinteressierten einen Blick hinter die Kulissen der Musikindustrie zu ermöglichen und zu zeigen, welche Personen an dem kreativen Schaffensprozess von der Produktion bis zur Veröffentlichung eines Songs beteiligt sind, hat der Bundesverband Musikindustrie e. V. (BVMI) neue Filme aus der Serie „Berufsbilder im Musikbusiness" produzieren lassen.
