Crash Team Racing, or CTR as it's known by the cool kids, was a racing game made by Naughty Dog during the era of Mario Kart rip-offs. But that Crash Team Racing does better than others is give us an instant connection to all the available racers, and...somewhat of a "story." Look, you don't play old racing games for stories.
CTR has the bane of all completionists when it comes to racing games: near impossible time trials. I'm talking super-human reflexes to control Crash and his mates through drifts, boxes, and sheer luck.
That being said, I've went through hell. Enjoy my Crash Team Racing review for this week's episode of the Completionist! Or CTR review for you hip cats out there...or...hip bandicoots.

Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot is a video game franchise of platform video games. The series, originally exclusive to the Sony PlayStation, was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin during their tenure at Naughty Dog for Sony Computer Entertainment. Since its conception at Naughty Dog, the series has appeared on multiple platforms and gone through various developers and spans numerous genres. The series has a total of eighteen games and shipped over 50 million copies worldwide.
The games are mostly set on the fictitious Wumpa Islands, an archipelago situated to the south of Australia, although other locations are common. The main games in the series are largely platformers, but several are spin-offs in different genres. The protagonist of the series is an anthropomorphic Bandicoot named Crash, whose quiet life on the Wumpa Islands is often interrupted by the games' main antagonist, Doctor Neo Cortex, who created Crash and now wants nothing less than his demise. In most games, Crash must defeat Cortex and foil any world domination plans he might have.

Team Racing
Team Racing is a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team. It is owned by driver Phil Bonifield. The team has fielded multiple trucks, usually with sponsorship from Red Line Oil and the Coverall Carports.
Truck #23 history
Team Racing made its debut in 1999 at Evergreen Speedway, under the banner Team 23 Racing. Bonifield qualified the #23 truck 29th but finished 30th after suffering fuel pump failure early in the race. Jerry Kobza ran the truck two races later at Memphis Motorsports Park, but dropped out early due to engine failure. Bonifield ran the truck for most of the year, posting thirteen more starts and a best finish of 30th twice, finishing 31st in points. Kobza was supposed to share the ride with Bonifield during the season, but did not qualify for his attempts and soon left the team. David Starr ran two races in the 23 at Portland and Watkins Glen, finishing 31st and 29th, respectively. Boris Said also drove in a one-race deal at Richmond International Raceway, finishing seventeenth, and Tom Bambard ran the 23 at California Speedway, finishing 22nd. Rick McCray attempted Texas Motor Speedway, but failed to qualify.

Crash Team Racing
Crash Team Racing is a kart racing video game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation. The game was released in North America on September 30, 1999 and in Europe and Australia later the same year. It was re-released for the Sony Greatest Hits line-up in 2000 and for the Platinum Range on January 12, 2001. It was later added to the European PlayStation Store on October 18, 2007, then on the Japanese store on June 11, 2008 and then finally to the North American store on August 10, 2010. It was also the final game in the series to be developed by Naughty Dog.
Crash Team Racing is the fourth installment in the Crash Bandicoot series. It is the first Crash Bandicoot game in the racing genre and the last Crash Bandicoot game to be developed by Naughty Dog. The game's story focuses on the efforts of a ragtag team of characters in the Crash Bandicoot series, who must race against the egomaniacal Nitros Oxide to save their planet from destruction. In the game, players can take control of one of fifteen Crash Bandicoot series characters, though only eight are available at first. During the races, offensive and speed boosting power ups can be used to gain an advantage.

Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Galaxy (stylized as Samsung GALAXY or SAMSUNG Galaxy) is a series of mobile computing devices designed, manufactured and marketed by Samsung Electronics. Crash Team Racing, or CTR as it's known by the cool kids, was a racing game made by Naughty Dog during the era of Mario Kart rip-offs. But that Crash Team Racing does better than others is give us an instant connection to all the available racers, and...somewhat of a "story." Look, you don't play old racing games for stories.
CTR has the bane of all completionists when it comes to racing games: near impossible time trials. I'm talking super-human reflexes to control Crash and his mates through drifts, boxes, and sheer luck.
That being said, I've went through hell. Enjoy my Crash Team Racing review for this week's episode of the Completionist! Or CTR review for you hip cats out there...or...hip bandicoots.

Any donations via the VIMEO tip jar are enormously gratefully received. These are almost entirely self funded, that is why it's only my second one of the year after the Digital Bolex. Getting time to make them is hard and I can't take of normal paid work to do them. Donations DO help and do go towards getting more done!
Finally! After literally weeks of work filming and testing out the camera in countless places and around a week of solid editing it's hear! Almost 40 minutes of my GH4 review.

Another long review of one of most interesting cameras to come out recently, well since the Blackmagic Camera which was my last review. Are they competing cameras? Nope...both I think have very specific applications.
Is it worth the money though? After all this is a DSLR that thinks it's a video camera. A first. Also the first DSLR to shoot 4k and it's internally!

Edit. I have just checked out the just announced micro four thirds version at IBC. Looks great but it's passive so no iris control through the camera. You need a manual lens like the Voigtlanders.
The good news is with a M43 mount you can put on any lens with easily available adaptors for PL, M, Nikon, Canon. C mount (make sure they cover sensor). It's a much more flexible camera lens wise and makes more sense than the EF version here.

Crash Team Racing, or CTR as it's known by the cool kids, was a racing game made by Naughty Dog during the era of Mario Kart rip-offs. But that Crash Team Racing does better than others is give us an instant connection to all the available racers, and...somewhat of a "story." Look, you don't play old racing games for stories.
CTR has the bane of all completionists when it comes to racing games: near impossible time trials. I'm talking super-human reflexes to control Crash and his mates through drifts, boxes, and sheer luck.
That being said, I've went through hell. Enjoy my Crash Team Racing review for this week's episode of the Completionist! Or CTR review for you hip cats out there...or...hip bandicoots.

Any donations via the VIMEO tip jar are enormously gratefully received. These are almost entirely self funded, that is why it's only my second one of the year after the Digital Bolex. Getting time to make them is hard and I can't take of normal paid work to do them. Donations DO help and do go towards getting more done!
Finally! After literally weeks of work filming and testing out the camera in countless places and around a week of solid editing it's hear! Almost 40 minutes of my GH4 review.

Edit. I have just checked out the just announced micro four thirds version at IBC. Looks great but it's passive so no iris control through the camera. You need a manual lens like the Voigtlanders.
The good news is with a M43 mount you can put on any lens with easily available adaptors for PL, M, Nikon, Canon. C mount (make sure they cover sensor). It's a much more flexible camera lens wise and makes more sense than the EF version here.
