Below is a list of current, public-facing UNH Information Technology initiatives and projects. (This does not include those projects that are operational updates, upgrades, or maintenance.) Active Directory + Office365 Consolidation Currently, UNH faculty/staff and UNH students utilize two separate environments for email and information sharing, one on-premise and one in the cloud. The separate environments present many challenges for collaboration and scheduling between these two groups, as well as between other USNH institutions and colleagues outside the university system. Consolidating to one unified environment will not only improve collaboration and information sharing for all, but will also greatly reduce the current complexity of managing two separate systems. The current model presents a LEAN improvement opportunity to standardize on a single simplified platform and rededicate staff to other strategic initiatives. 8/16 - 5/18 27 Matthew Connors
Banner Document Retention Documents have been imaged for multiple USNH departments for several years. Many of these images still exist. The first phase of the Banner Document Retention project will implement software to automate the deletion of current and future digital documents based on the retention policy for the document type. Development of a retention policy will reduce legal risk by deleting aged documents and reduce the storage requirements. 04/15 - 11/17

ConnectNH 2013 USDA RUS Grant - Implementation

The 2013 USDA RUS Grant upgrades the capacity and capabilities of ConnectNH, the UNH statewide video collaboration and media management platform which provides services for distance education, telehealth, and public safety.

FY 16 LRTP - Fiber Diversity in Durham

UNH is currently connected to the internet and Internet 2 through primary and secondary fiber connections.  Both of these fibers follow a parallel path creating and a single point of failure with significant negative impact. This FY16 LRTP project enables the creation of a geo-diverse fiber path by rerouting one fiber to follow an alternate route.

FY 16 LRTP - Redundant Client Routers

All of the smaller USNH institutions and external NetworkNH clients are served by a single router leaving them vulnerable to a significant single point of failure.  This FY16 LRTP Resiliency project will add a redundant router that will be placed in an alternate location on campus thereby providing a backup for these important clients.

FY 16 LRTP - WAN Resiliency and Capacity

The Broadband Services Resiliency and Capacity Enhancement project will enhance the USNH statewide research and education broadband network to provide increased uptime and higher capacity in support of faculty, staff, and researchers.

NH School Connectivity Initiative

UNH IT is a key participant in the NH School Connectivity Initiative; a collation of state agencies and vendor organizations tasked with facilitating fiber connections to all NH K-12 schools and identifying ways to enhance New Hampshire's usage of FCC E-Rate funding.  These efforts could lead to an expansion of USNH's 40-site Wide Area Network (WAN) to encompass connections for K-12 schools and potentially other state community anchor institutions such as libraries, public safety, and telehealth.
