Transportation:

For those who want to attend the event but don't want to drive; Sit back, we've got it.  A UNH Wildcat Transit Bus with a limited number of seats are available for FREE from Concord to Durham and includes a return ride from Durham to Concord

Preregistration is required by emailing Dagmar Vlahos at dagmar.vlahos@unh.edu

Seats are limited to the first 38 who request a reserved seat by emailing dagmar.vlahos@unh.edu - You will receive an confirmation that you will need the day of the event.   

A confirmed preregistration is required to ride the bus and only those with a confirmation can ride this bus to and from the event.  Angela Linke from the State of NH DOT will be the Bus Contact when you arrive at the bus and on the return trip.  

Bus will arrive at New Hampshire Department of Transportation, 7 Hazen Drive in Concord NH at 7:00am with a departure time of 7:15 am arriving at UNH in Durham at approximately 8:15 am

Return trip leaving UNH Durham at 3:45 pm arriving in Concord at approximately 4:45 pm; if you are signed up for the bus but will not be taking the return trip please contact Angela Linke or Dagmar Vlahos prior to the end of the Summit as the bus will wait for all riders before it departs.  

For those who live near the Rochester, NH area there is a UNH Transit Bus that you can ride for FREE on the day of the event.  Just show your Lean Summit registration confirmation .  *Please note that pick up and drop off times are according the the Wildcat Transit Route Schedule and not affiliated with the Lean Summit start and ending times.

Opening Remarks:

Stan Waddell, University of New Hampshire, Chief Information Officer (CIO)

Stan joined the university’s office of finance and administration in May 2015 as the chief information officer.  He brings extensive experience in higher education information technology.  Prior to arriving at UNH, he was at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since 2010, serving as UNC’s chief technology officer and assistant vice chancellor for the infrastructure/operations and communications technology divisions of the information technology services department. Prior to his time at UNC-Chapel Hill, he served as chief information security officer for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

Governor Maggie Hassan or  a member of the Executive Branch 

Now in her second term, Governor Hassan is focused on bringing people together to build a stronger, more innovative New Hampshire, with more good jobs that can support a growing middle class and where all of our citizens are included in our shared success and prosperity.

Keynote:  

Victoria Dutcher, University of New Hampshire, Vice President of Enrollment Management

Victoria Dutcher joined the university in June of 2015 as the vice president of enrollment management. This is a new position reporting directly to the president responsible for undergraduate and graduate enrollment across all three UNH campuses. The admissions office, financial aid, the registrar’s office and institutional research will report to Dutcher.

Throughout her 25-year career in college and university enrollment Dutcher has worked with more than 100 institutions across the U.S. as well as two in Canada and two in Europe in strategic enrollment management. After establishing successful enrollment track records in full-time campus positions, she entered the consulting field 15 years ago, eventually becoming vice president of consulting services at Noel-Levitz and then president of Williams and Company.

Over the last 15 years as a consultant, Dutcher successfully led numerous enrollment efforts that reduced budget deficits, increased applicant pools and yield, and helped meet or exceed a variety of institutional goals. She has also served as the chief enrollment officer at several institutions during leadership transitions. Dutcher earned her bachelor of arts in marketing and management from Siena College and her MBA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Vicki Quiram - State of NH - Commissioner, Department of Administrative Services

Vicki currently serves as the Commissioner of the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). Previously she was the Assistant Commissioner at the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, Quiram has more than 20 years of management experience in the public sector. She has previously served as the Public Works Director for the Town of Westwood, Massachusetts, as the Assistant Public Works Director and Utility Director for the City of Ventura, California, and as a Senior Program Administrator/Manager for the Ventura County Watershed Protection District in Ventura, California.

Bonnie A. Baker, Director, Martin's Point Management System (MPMS) Martin's Point Health Care, Portland ME

Bonnie has experience in facilitating team-based change initiatives for organizational improvement and developing and delivering Lean continuous improvement education programs. She is passionate about helping teams analyze complex problems and build relationships to implement solutions that delight customers and drive innovation.

 

Chief Paul Dean, University of New Hampshire Police Chief, Durham, NH

Paul H. Dean is the Chief of Police -Executive Director of Public Safety and Vice President for Student and Academic Services for the University of New Hampshire. Chief Dean is a 30 year veteran of law enforcement and holds a Master’s of Science in Leadership and, Bachelors of Science with honors in Criminal Justice Management from Granite State College. Chief Dean is a graduate of the 186th Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA and The Babson College Command Officer Training program in Wellesley MA.

 

Amanda Grappone Osmer, Fourth Generation,  Grappone Automotive Group, Concord, NH

Amanda Grappone Osmer was 16 years old when she first started working at the auto dealership her great-grandfather founded in 1924. She worked in every department, cleaning engine parts, filing, delivering mail, changing oil. She is the fourth generation of Grappones to help lead the family dealership.  Amanda graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Hampshire, where she studied humanities and German and spent nearly a year on two separate trips to Germany. After college, she worked in North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains for Outward Bound, a nonprofit educational program that promotes team building and character development in the wilderness.

 

Denis Goulet, Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology, State of New Hampshire, Concord, NH

Denis was the Director of Development for the software development firm Allscripts Healthcare Solutions, he has nearly 30 years of private-sector IT experience in industries such as health care, high technology and manufacturing.  Denis was the Vice President of Information Technology from 2004 to 2010 at Progressive Software Corporate, where he also previously worked as the Director of Information Systems, the Director if E-Business and the Director of IT Operations.

Closing Speech:

Christopher Clement, University of New Hampshire,  Vice President of Finance and Administration

Chris has nearly two decades of experience in the private sector as well as six years of service to the state of New Hampshire, most recetly as commissioner of the Department of Transportation.  As transportation commissioner for the state, Chris gain experience in the creation and implementation of strategic approaches to lean business processes, worked with cross-functional work teams, and developed strategic initiatives and meaningful performance measures.

Lunch Options

Lunch is not included at the event. Attendees are responsible for their own lunch. However, there are several options available including:

• Holloway Commons:  ALL you can eat Buffet located in the Memorial Union Building just steps away from the event
  • Pre-purchase your tickets the day of the event at the time of registration or at the morning break at a discounted rate of $9.00;
  • If purchased at lunch the price increases to $11.00 plus applicable tax
  • Form of payment includes cash/check or credit card (must go to Holloway Commons to have payment processed)
• Food Court: The Food Court is located adjacent to the Granite State Room on the 2nd level of the Memorial Union Building
  • A variety of prepared food and beverages are available for purchase
• BYOL (Bring your own lunch):  Plenty of seating available to enjoy your lunch

Yes, an attendee list will be provided the day of the event for those who indicated at the time of registration to have their names included on the attendee list.

IS THERE ADA/ACCESSIBLE (FKA HANDICAP) PARKING?  WHAT IF I AM UNABLE TO CLIMB STAIRS?

ADA/Accessible (FKA Handicap) parking is available in Lot C as well as in front of the Memorial Union Building.  

State-issued walking disability plates and/or placards are required in all UNH ADA/Accessible spaces. 

The Memorial Union Building has elevators within the building for those requiring them.  Lean Summit signs will direct you to the elevators as well as the location of the event.
