"Former Atlanta Public Schools executive secretary Barbara Jackson testifies during the test-cheating trial at the Fulton County Superior Court in Atlanta on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 afternoon. An incredibly rare criminal cheating trial in Atlanta is coming to an end, and it could send school teachers to prison for allegedly violating a law originally enacted to go after mobsters. Prosecutors are using Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) to accuse former principals, teachers, and administrators of trying to boost their bonuses by conspiring to artificially raise kids' test scores. The dozen educators on trial could go to prison for up to 20 years. During closing arguments on Tuesday, a lawyer for the defense suggested that it was a ludicrous abuse of power to bring racketeering charges against school teachers, as the Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported." http://bit.ly/1FnFpbK Many of you have asked for battery life test, and since Geekbench introduced a Battery test in version 3.3, I thought I would do one. To test as many iOS's as possible on the same device, I found a new out of the box iPhone 5 16GB, that had iOS 8.0.2 on it. So in this test I am testing iOS 8.0.2, 8.1.3, 8.2 Beta 5 and finally iOS 8.3 Beta 2 released yesterday. The phone is fully reset in each test, with no apps installed other than Geekbench.. The phone was charged to 100% and then an extra 30 minutes before each test. Music in the video is : First to Last by Gunnar Olsen Geekbench score definition : Battery Runtime is the battery test runtime. If the test started with the battery completely charged and ended with the battery completely discharged then the test runtime is also the battery lifetime. Battery Score is a combination of the runtime and the work completed during the battery test. If two phones have the same runtime but different scores, then the phone with the higher score completed more work. As with Geekbench scores, higher battery scores are better. Battery Level is the battery level at the start and the end of the test.

To further explain why this is an issue, STAAR tests represent the student and the school, and believe me, the TEA can shut districts down due to bad test scores (it's happened within the past few years, though I believe other reasons added up to that). So good luck, from a 9th Grader to a 7th Grade teacher.

Malverne UFSD, NY, March 26th, 2015 Parents and teachers gathered in a peaceful rally to express their position on the current situation in education—excessive testing, teacher evaluations tied to test scores, Gap Elimination Adjustment, schools privatization and closings. The rally was organized in response to the action call by NY Allies for Public Education (NYSAPE), s part of their "Protect Our School" campaign.

Dozens of protests small and large broke out at schools across the city Thursday as teachers and parents pushed back against Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed education policy changes. Educators railed against the idea of tying teacher evaluations more closely to student test results, raising the charter-school cap, and placing consistently low-performing schools in the hands of outside groups. Meanwhile, Twitter and Facebook were buzzing throughout the day with photographs of students, parents and educators holding signs and locking hands throughout the city. After school let out Thursday afternoon, about 100 City-As-School students and educators marched from their Manhattan high school to Washington Square Park chanting, “Hey hey, ho ho, Cuomo’s plan has got to go,” and “stakes are high, test scores lie.” Demonstrators from City-As-School – one of more than two-dozen city high schools with state permission to tie graduation to a student’s portfolio instead of Regents-exam scores – garnered attention from passersby as they marched through the West Village carrying banners and signs. Being escorted by close to 10 New York Police Department motorcycle officers and a handful of officers on foot, the group attracted even more listeners when it landed at Washington Square Park. Dr. Scarvin B. Anderson discusses two guiding principles in test interpretation--any test score is only an estimate of a student's ability, and percentiles are meaningful only if the characteristics of the norms group on which they are based are known. Discusses testing scores in terms of bands rather than points.

The Guardian 2015-04-03A test score is a piece of information, usually a number, that conveys the performance of an examinee on a test. One formal definition is that it is "a summary of the evidence contained in an examinee's responses to the items of a test that are related to the construct or constructs being measured."
Test scores are interpreted with a norm-referenced or criterion-referenced interpretation, or occasionally both. A norm-referenced interpretation means that the score conveys meaning about the examinee with regards to their standing among other examinees. A criterion-referenced interpretation means that the score conveys information about the examinee with regards a specific subject matter, regardless of other examinees' scores.
There are two types of test scores: raw scores and scaled scores. A raw score is a score without any sort of adjustment or transformation, such as the simple number of questions answered correctly. A scaled score is the results of some transformation applied to the raw score.
African Americans (also referred to as Black Americans or Afro-Americans, and formerly as American Negroes) are citizens or residents of the United States that have ancestry from any of the native populations of Sub-Saharan Africa.
African Americans make up the single largest racial minority in the United States. Most African Americans are of West and Central African descent and are descendants of enslaved Africans within the boundaries of the present United States. However, some immigrants from African, Caribbean, Central American or South American nations, or their descendants, may be identified or self-identify with the term.
African-American history starts in the 16th century with African slaves who quickly rose up against the Spanish explorer Lucas Vázquez de Ayllón and progresses to the present day, with Barack Obama as the 44th and current President of the United States. Between those landmarks there have been events and issues, both resolved and ongoing, including slavery, racism, Reconstruction, development of the African-American community, participation in the great military conflicts of the United States, racial segregation, and the Civil Rights Movement.
