Kevin Lyttle (born Lescott Kevin Lyttle Coombs, 14 September 1976) is a Vincentian soca artist, who had a worldwide hit with "Turn Me On" in 2004, recorded with the dancehall artist Spragga Benz.

Career

Lyttle was encouraged by his family to pursue music at the young age and has been performing at local events in his teens. Prior to his musical career, Lyttle had subsisted on day jobs, such as customs officer and radio disc jockey. He recorded "Turn Me On" as a soca ballad in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 2001 and the song subsequently became a minor hit throughout the Caribbean.

Lyttle signed with Atlantic Records in 2003 and a remixed version of "Turn Me On" was officially released as a single in the UK at the end of the year, with dancehall artist Spragga Benz's guest vocals. The song reached number two in the UK, spending seven weeks in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. It eventually became a worldwide hit in 2004, reaching number 4 in the United States, number 3 in Australia and placing within Top 5 in many European countries.

Kevin Lyttle is the self-titled debut studio album by Vincentian singer Kevin Lyttle. The album was released in 2004 and included the hit "Turn Me On", which went to top 5 in many countries worldwide.

Album information

The album was produced by a team of various producers, including Salaam Remi and Troy Taylor. It includes Lyttle's biggest hit "Turn Me On" and the second single "Last Drop", both recorded with contribution from Jamaica dancehall artist Spragga Benz, and the cover version of "Sign Your Name" by Terence Trent D'Arby. On some U.S. releases, the song "So High" is replaced with "Dance with Me", featuring Trey Songz, who also delivers guest vocals in "Call Me".

The album entered the Billboard albums chart at number 8, selling 84,000 copies, and would eventually be certified gold. As of January 2009, it has sold 375,000 copies in the US. The album also charted within top 10 of Swiss albums chart and reached number 12 in Japan, but was met with only modest success elsewhere.

The song samples "All My Love", a song by R&B group 112 from their album Room 112.

Various remixes of the song exist. Some radio stations played the pop mix with added drums or a 'Bubbling/Part II' remix by DJ Lipe (Santiago, Chile), featuring additional female vocals. There have also been several reggaeton remixes of the song including one featuring Ivy Queen. A 'Mad Hatters Ball' remix featuring Alison Hinds was also released. In 2008, the song was re-recorded with Hinds for Lyttle's second album, Fyah.o

The song performed well on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number four on August 14 and staying in the chart for months. It was also successful worldwide, reaching number two in the United Kingdom for two weeks (being the best selling non-new entry song twice), number one in Denmark, and number three in Australia, and remains Lyttle's biggest hit to date.

Turn Me On (Kim Kyu-jong EP)

Turn Me On is the Korean solo mini album debut of Kim Kyu-jong of South Korean boy band SS501. It was released on September 27, 2011 under B2M Entertainment and distributed by LOEN Entertainment. On October 28, the album was also released in Taiwan by Warner Music Taiwan.

Background and development

Following the other four members of SS501, Kim was the last to debut as a solo artist after he left his former agency DSP Media in October 2010. While the other members released their own solo albums in the early 2011 one by one, Kim was concentrating on his acting career. Since their last album Destination in 2010, the only time that Kim got active in music was during his and Heo Young-saeng's Kyu Jong & Young Saeng Story joint fan meeting in Seoul and other countries across Asia. Kim was also featured in Heo's debut solo album Let It Go in the song "Rainy Heart", though he was not seen in the music video.

On September 19, B2M Entertainment announced Kim Kyu-jong music comeback with the release of his own solo album. During this time, Kim had been busy with his Goong musical, a spin-off of the Korean television drama of the same title, at the Kyoto Minami-za, Japan. Nevertheless, Kim participated in the album's concept and song production. In the same day, photo teasers for his upcoming album were released.

"Turn Me On" is a song by John D. Loudermilk that was first recorded and released by Mark Dinning in 1961, as the B-side to his single "Lonely Island". Other notable versions are by Nellie Rutherford and Nina Simone.Norah Jones released her version as the last single from her debut album Come Away with Me. The song was also performed by Shelby Dressel during her American Idol audition. It has been suggested that the song influenced the composition of Leonard Cohen's 1969 song "Bird on the Wire".

Jones's cover was the seventh track on her debut album. This version also appeared in the movie Love Actually and is on its soundtrack.
