In many racing sports an athlete (or occasionally a team of athletes) will compete in a time trial against the clock to secure the fastest time. In cycling, for example, a time trial (TT) can be a single track cycling event, or an individual or team time trial on the road, and either or both of the latter may form components of multi-day stage races. In contrast to other types of races, athletes race alone since they are sent out in intervals (interval starts), as opposed to a mass start.
In cross country skiing and biathlon competitions, skiers are sent out in 30 to 60 second intervals.
In rowing, time trial races, where the boats are sent out at 10 to 20 second intervals, are usually called "head races."
In many forms of motorsport, a similar format is used in qualifying to determine the starting order for the main event, though multiple attempts to set the fastest time are often allowed. In rallying, the special stages are run in a time-trial format. A similar race against the clock or time attack is often part of racing video games.
In religion, a relic usually consists of the physical remains of a saint or the personal effects of the saint or venerated person preserved for purposes of veneration as a tangible memorial. Relics are an important aspect of some forms of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Shamanism, and many other religions. Relic derives from the Latin reliquiae, meaning "remains," and a form of the Latin verb relinquere, to "leave behind, or abandon." A reliquary is a shrine that houses one or more religious relics.
In ancient Greece, a city or sanctuary might claim to possess, without necessarily displaying, the remains of a venerated hero as a part of a hero cult. Other venerable objects associated with the hero were more likely to be on display in sanctuaries, such as spears, shields, or other weaponry; chariots, ships or figureheads; furniture such as chairs or tripods; and clothing. The sanctuary of the Leucippides at Sparta claimed to display the egg of Leda.
The bones were not regarded as holding a particular power derived from the hero, with some exceptions, such as the divine shoulder of Pelops held at Olympia. Miracles and healing were not regularly attributed to them; rather, their presence was meant to serve a tutelary function, as the tomb of Oedipus was said to protect Athens.
Gold is a chemical element with symbol Au (from Latin: aurum) and atomic number 79. In its purest form, it is a bright, slightly reddish yellow, dense, soft, malleable and ductile metal. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements, and is solid under standard conditions. The metal therefore occurs often in free elemental (native) form, as nuggets or grains, in rocks, in veins and in alluvial deposits. It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as electrum) and also naturally alloyed with copper and palladium. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium (gold tellurides).
Gold's atomic number of 79 makes it one of the higher atomic number elements that occur naturally in the universe. It is thought to have been produced in supernova nucleosynthesis from the collision of two neutron stars and to have been present in the dust from which the Solar System formed. Because the Earth was molten when it was just formed, almost all of the gold present in the early Earth probably sank into the planetary core. Therefore, most of the gold that is present today in the Earth's crust and mantle is thought to have been delivered to Earth later, by asteroid impacts during the late heavy bombardment, about 4 billion years ago.
In law, a trial is a coming together of parties to a dispute, to present information (in the form of evidence) in a tribunal, a formal setting with the authority to adjudicate claims or disputes. One form of tribunal is a court. The tribunal, which may occur before a judge, jury, or other designated trier of fact, aims to achieve a resolution to their dispute.
Where the trial is held before a group of members of the community, it is called a jury trial. Where the trial is held solely before a judge, it is called a bench trial.
Bench trials are often resolved faster. Furthermore, a favorable ruling for one party in a bench trial will frequently lead the other party to offer a settlement.
Hearings before administrative bodies may have many of the features of a trial before a court, but are typically not referred to as trials.
An appellate proceeding is also generally not deemed a trial, because such proceedings are usually restricted to review of the evidence presented before the trial court, and do not permit the introduction of new evidence.
Crash Bandicoot is a video game franchise of platform video games. The series, originally exclusive to the Sony PlayStation, was created by Andy Gavin and Jason Rubin during their tenure at Naughty Dog for Sony Computer Entertainment. Since its conception at Naughty Dog, the series has appeared on multiple platforms and gone through various developers and spans numerous genres. The series has a total of eighteen games and shipped over 50 million copies worldwide.
The games are mostly set on the fictitious Wumpa Islands, an archipelago situated to the south of Australia, although other locations are common. The main games in the series are largely platformers, but several are spin-offs in different genres. The protagonist of the series is an anthropomorphic Bandicoot named Crash, whose quiet life on the Wumpa Islands is often interrupted by the games' main antagonist, Doctor Neo Cortex, who created Crash and now wants nothing less than his demise. In most games, Crash must defeat Cortex and foil any world domination plans he might have.

HiRez accidently leaked various new Relic descriptions with changes onto the Brazilian SMITE client and reddit user /u/ViolletXIII made the effort of translating all of them into English. Heavy music is a hoary, hairy, lumbering beast. Ancient ideas are reheated, old riffs are revived and the mumbling bearded behemoth stumbles on through generation after generation, satisfying urges of ears who like rumbling basslines and thundering drums. But every now and then, a band approaches the ancient tropes as if they are the first to stumble upon them. They approach the task of thumping out slabs of guitar noise with wide-eyed enthusiasm; making the genre seem fresh and sparkling. It may be a studiously adhered-to riff, or a bellow with gusto which sets them apart; something which shows them to be caught up in the excitement of making loud noises. Enter Forming the Void, whose latest album, their second, is shot through with this exuberance – and it makes it a joy to listen to....

The Arctic is melting. In 2012 the summer sea ice levels reached their lowest point since records began. The Greenpeace campaign, Save the Arctic, is a ground- breaking collaboration between scientists, architects and environmentalists. This summer the Greenpeace ship, The Arctic Sunrise, took a research team headed by leading scientist Peter Wadhams and London-based designers ScanLAB to remote Arctic waters in order to deepen our understanding of the threats faced by this unique and fragile region. During this expedition to the Fram Strait, northwest of Svalbard in Norway, ScanLAB were able to capture a huge amount of data, documenting a series of ice floes using millimetre-perfect 3D scanning technology, capturing a total of 26 floes in forensic detail, mapping their surfaces precisely. ...

Someone's laughing somewhere
As the saints come marching in
Pitter patter, splitter splatter
Your faith is wearing thin
Promise of a new day
Brings compulsion to vomit
Silent dust in the eye of god
Who's the relic on my sister's neck
Next, next
Revelations pandered
In the corner child sits
Glory be destiny
Ethics pale cold steel to wrists
Your disease is rampant
Disciple dogs smell a funeral feast
Gather round all ye angels of light
The accuser's decided to treat
Now can't you see - Nobody's home
Legions move swiftly over the fields
Chasing the thoughts of we the brethren
Who stand upon your shores of knowledge
Waiting to see with eyes past
Waiting to dance with angels chained
For we are one - One in the same
No - It's just flesh - It's just flesh
Watcher seeks the lonely
Takes the hand of a chosen few
Messenger why the tear in your eye
At thirteen i was dying for you
Now can't you see - Nobody's home
