KTLA, channel 5, is a CW-affiliated television station located in Los Angeles, California, United States. The station is owned by the Tribune Broadcasting subsidiary of Tribune Media. KTLA maintains studio facilities located at the Sunset Bronson Studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and its transmitter is located atop Mount Wilson.
KTLA was the first commercially licensed television station in the western United States, having begun operations in 1947. Although not as widespread in national carriage as its Chicago sister station WGN-TV, KTLA is available as a superstation throughout North America via Dish Network (available only to grandfathered subscribers that had purchased its a la carte superstation tier before Dish halted sales of the package to new subscribers in September 2013), as well as on cable providers in select cities within the southwestern United States and throughout Canada. It is reported throughout Southern and Central California when KTLA was on analog before digital transition in 2009, certain television sets with cable subscription found KTLA on VHF channel 1, but that's outside the VHF band channels 2-13.
Los Angeles (i/lɒs ˈændʒəlᵻs/ loss AN-jə-ləs or loss AN-jə-liss) (Spanish for "The Angels"), officially the City of Los Angeles and often known by its initials L.A., is the second-largest city in the United States after New York City, the most populous city in the state of California, and the county seat of Los Angeles County.
Situated in Southern California, Los Angeles is known for its mediterranean climate, ethnic diversity, sprawling metropolis, and as a major center of the American entertainment industry. Los Angeles lies in a large coastal basin surrounded on three sides by mountains reaching up to and over 10,000 feet (3,000 m).
Historically home to the Chumash and Tongva, Los Angeles was claimed by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo for Spain in 1542 along with the rest of what would become Alta California. The city was officially founded on September 4, 1781, by Spanish governor Felipe de Neve. It became a part of Mexico in 1821 following the Mexican War of Independence. In 1848, at the end of the Mexican–American War, Los Angeles and the rest of California were purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, thereby becoming part of the United States. Los Angeles was incorporated as a municipality on April 4, 1850, five months before California achieved statehood. The city experienced rapid growth with the discovery of oil.

5 News is the news programme of British broadcaster Channel 5 produced by ITN from Channel 5's former parent company Northern & Shell's head office on Lower Thames Street in the City of London.
From 1 January 2005, Sky News was awarded the contract to provide the news for Channel 5, replacing ITN, which had provided the channel's news service from the channel's launch in 1997. On 14 February 2011, the service was rebranded back to its original name, 5 News, having been called Five News from 2002 until 2011. On 20 February 2012 the contract returned to original provider ITN.
On 5 November 2015 5 News at 5 anchor Emma Crosby announced she was leaving 5 News after 4 years to have a baby. Sian Williams replaced her on 4th January 2016 after months of interim anchors from Channel 5's team of on-screen journalists.
5 News was one of the new station's flagship programmes when it launched on 30 March 1997. It was originally produced by ITN, which at the time also provided the news for Channel 4 and ITV. It was announced on 9 March 2004 that Sky had won the new contract to provide Channel 5 with its news bulletins.
On March 17, 2014 a magnitude-4.4 earthquake that was centered six miles north of Beverly Hills struck around 6:25 a.m. Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. No major damages or injuries were reported, but the shaking was felt as far as Riverside and Ventura counties. It was also felt quite strongly in KTLA's studios in Hollywood, sending morning anchors Chris Schauble and Megan Henderson ducking for cover underneath the anchor desk during Monday's broadcast. "I was very proud to see the KTLA anchors going under their desk during the earthquake, that was absolutely the right thing to do," said Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. "People who are laughing at them for doing it, you don't know at the beginning how big an earthquake's going to be. You ...

This video features various news and talent opens from KTLA in Los Angeles from c. 1955 to present. This is a reupload of the very first compilation I ever put up on this channel, originally uploaded on October 24, 2013; it was revised to a couple of additional talent intros and includes a few cold opens. As I mentioned when this was first uploaded, all of the videos were made using a video converter (more specifically, the Freemake Video Converter) and all of the clips included here and in the other compilations were originally uploaded by other YouTube users (such as NewsActive3, DontrylAlexander and others) under fair use guidelines.
