Publishing is the process of production and dissemination of literature, music, or information — the activity of making information available to the general public. In some cases, authors may be their own publishers, meaning originators and developers of content also provide media to deliver and display the content for the same. Also, the word publisher can refer to the individual who leads a publishing company or an imprint or to a person who owns/heads a magazine.
Traditionally, the term refers to the distribution of printed works such as books (the "book trade") and newspapers. With the advent of digital information systems and the Internet, the scope of publishing has expanded to include electronic resources such as the electronic versions of books and periodicals, as well as micropublishing, websites, blogs, video game publishers, and the like.
Publishing includes the following stages of development: acquisition, copy editing, production, printing (and its electronic equivalents), and marketing and distribution.
Random House is the largest general-interest trade book publisher in the world. It is part of Penguin Random House, which is owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann and global education and publishing company Pearson PLC. Random House also has an entertainment production arm for film and television, Random House Studio; one release in 2011 was One Day. The company also creates story content for media including video games, social networks on the web, and mobile platforms. It is one of the largest English-language publishers, formerly known as the "Big 6", now known as the "Big Five".
Bertelsmann owns 53% of the joint venture.
Random House was founded in 1927 by Americans Bennett Cerf and Donald Klopfer, two years after they acquired the Modern Library imprint from publisher Horace Liveright, which reprints classic works of literature. Cerf is quoted as saying, "We just said we were going to publish a few books on the side at random," which suggested the name Random House. In 1934 they published the first authorized edition of James Joyce's novel Ulysses in the Anglophone world.
A book is a set of written, printed, illustrated, or blank sheets, made of ink, paper, parchment, or other materials, fastened together to hinge at one side. A single sheet within a book is a leaf, and each side of a leaf is a page. A set of text-filled or illustrated pages produced in electronic format is known as an electronic book, or e-book.
Books may also refer to works of literature, or a main division of such a work. In library and information science, a book is called a monograph, to distinguish it from serial periodicals such as magazines, journals or newspapers. The body of all written works including books is literature. In novels and sometimes other types of books (for example, biographies), a book may be divided into several large sections, also called books (Book 1, Book 2, Book 3, and so on). An avid reader of books is a bibliophile or colloquially, bookworm.
A shop where books are bought and sold is a bookshop or bookstore. Books can also be borrowed from libraries. Google has estimated that as of 2010, approximately 130,000,000 unique titles had been published. In some wealthier nations, printed books are giving way to the usage of electronic or e-books, though sales of e-books declined in the first half of 2015.
You Had Me at Hello is the debut full-length album released by the hardcore band Bury Your Dead in 2003. The title comes from a line of romantic dialogue in the movie Jerry Maguire.
The album was later re-issued at Eulogy Recordings, with new album artwork, and labels the current band members on the disc. The album was released in 2005.
"You Had Me" is a song by English singer and songwriter Joss Stone from her second studio album, Mind Body & Soul (2004). It was released on 13 September 2004 as the album's lead single. The song was written by Stone, Francis "Eg" White, Wendy Stoker and Betty Wright. "You Had Me" peaked at number nine on the UK Singles Chart, earning Stone her highest-peaking single on the chart to date. Additionally, the song received a nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 47th Grammy Awards in 2005, but lost out to "Sunrise" by Norah Jones.
"You Had Me" was recorded in New York City on the afternoon of 14 August 2003, with Nile Rodgers on guitar, Jack Daley on bass, Cindy Blackman on drums and Betty Wright, who provided backing vocals and co-produced the track. Two seconds after completing the recording and pressing the "save" button on the computer, the lights went out in the studio at 4:09 pm, caused by the Great Blackout of 2003, which affected the Northeastern and the Midwestern United States, as well as the Canadian province of Ontario. Steve Greenberg, who also co-produced the track, stated:

So. Many. Mistakes. I kind of wish I could go back in time and do my first book over again. But I can't. So instead I wrote another book. And messed that one up a bit. And wrote a third book (that I haven't managed to screw up yet, so good for me). I'm going to do monthly "Everything you need to know about self-publishing!!!" videos. Last time, I did a video on how I self-published my books (and you can too!): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-u6LSgRxPk If you have any other questions about self-publishing and/or have topic ideas, please leave your ideas in the comments section below! This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In this highly insightful talk Gary provides us as insider account of what the book publishing industry is really like including the economics for a writer, the "Bestseller Creation Myth"and the promise of a newly emerging publishing model being facilitated by Amazon. Gary Smailes was an executive in the pharmaceutical industry and the one thing he was certain of was that he hated his job. He rolled the dice, resigned and pursued his passion for writing and history. Gary then has a chance encounter that leads him to becoming a researcher on the hit series of "Horrible Histories" books. This valuable break provides the platform for Gary to completely re-engineer his career and life. Today, Gary Sma...
