The Late Late Show, with its title often shortened to The Late Late, is an Irish chat show. It is the world's second longest-running chat show, after the American The Tonight Show. Perceived as the official flagship television programme of Ireland's public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), it is regarded as an Irish television institution (even abroad) and is broadcast live across two hours plus in front of a studio audience on Friday nights between September and May at 21.30.
Having maintained the same name and format continuously, The Late Late Show was first broadcast on Friday, 6 July 1962 at 23.20 and in colour from 1976. Originating as temporary summer filler for a niche Saturday night audience (airing at 23.30), it later moved to its current home on Friday night schedules. The format has remained largely the same throughout—dialogue, comic sketches, musical performances, discourse on topical issues. It has influenced attitudes of the populace towards approval or disapproval of its chosen topics, directed social change and helped shape Irish societal norms. It averages 650,000 viewers per episode and has consistently achieved RTÉ's highest ratings.

The 1st single from Elton’s 1985 album, Ice On Fire. Featuring George Michael on backing vocals at song’s end, it was a top ten hit in over a dozen countries, making it one of Elton’s most popular singles of the 1980s. Directed by Ken Russell, who worked with Elton on his part as the “Pinball Wizard” in the 1975 film Tommy. The shoot took place in Kensal Rise, London with Anya Major as the border guard. Live performance visuals - Elton 60, New York Elton John celebrated his 60th birthday by treating a star-studded audience to an epic performance at Madison Square Gardens and Kate directed several films for the show. Your Song was the last track of the evening and in order to enhance the emotional mood the film uses a sequence of beautiful, abstract graphics which have been animated entirely to the music. Kate also designed the packaging for DVD of the show. Credits Client: Twenty First Artists Production company: Intro Design and direction: Kate Dawkins Animation: Cassiano Prado
The song chronicles the effort of Freddie Mercury continuing to perform despite approaching the end of his life; he was dying from complications due to HIV/AIDS, although his illness had not yet been made public in spite of ongoing media speculation claiming that he was seriously ill. Mercury was so ill when the band recorded the song in 1990, that May had concerns as to whether he was physically capable of singing it. Recalling Mercury's performance, May states; "I said, 'Fred, I don't know if this is going to be possible to sing.' And he went, 'I'll fucking do it, darling' — vodka down — and went in and killed it, completely lacerated that vocal." The lyrics are full of allusions, metaphors and other figures of speech, making it somewhat difficult to understand. Thinly disguised tragedy...

Goodbye Norma Jeane, though I never, knew you at all you had the grace to hold yourself while those around you crawled. They crawled out of the woodwork and they whispered into your brain. They set you on the treadmill and they made you change your name. It seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind. Never knowing who to cling to when the rain set in. I would've liked to've known you but I was just a kid. Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did. Loneliness was tough, toughest role you ever played. Hollywood created a superstar and fame was the price you paid. Even when you died, oh the press still hounded you. All the papers had to say was that Marilyn, was found in the nude. It seems to me, you lived your life like a candle in the wind. Never knowing...

Elton John was the biggest pop star of the '70s, grabbing headlines and generating hits throughout the world. As it turned out, this was merely the first act in a remarkable career that kept him at the top of the charts for over 25 years. He charted a Top 40 hit single every year between 1970 and 1996, a sign that he knew how to both change with the times and mold the times to fit him. Initially marketed as a singer/songwriter, John soon revealed he could craft Beatlesque pop and pound out rockers with equal aplomb. He could dip into soul, disco, and country, as well as classic pop balladry and even progressive rock. His versatility, combined with his effortless melodic skills, dynamic charisma, and flamboyant stage shows, became his calling cards and many of his songs became contemporary ...

Probably hailed as one of the most important songwriters of her generation, Brenda Russell’s music has touched a nerve with both her fans as well as musicians that have recorded her music for well over 30 years. The Brooklyn, New York native returned home to perform at The Blue Note Jazz Club’s 30th Anniversary performance celebration featuring the George Duke Trio. Grammy-Award Winning bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spaulding and drummer Terri Lyne Carrington backed Mr. Duke and Miss. Russell in what would be two sold-out nights of fire-filled jazz and R & B. Russell moved to Hamilton, Ontario when she was a teen and was bitten by the music bug by her parents who were professional musicians while living in New York. Although Hamilton was a major cultural adjustment for her, she got her first...

It used to be a sweet sensation
No price too high for love
Now I pay for this bitter taste
And the price is not enough
Such cruel sport for your kicks
Such hard knocks on my heart
How long before the pain ends
Tell me where living starts
And lovers leap off burning buildings
Waking up on a sky high wire
Desperation leaves us clinging
On the edge of a house on fire
Lovers leap off burning buildings
Live our life on borrowed time
Every flame that ever moved you
Touched your lips but never mine
Lovers leap off burning buildings
No room for conversation
Cold stares and angry words
Fall in pieces from our faces
We read "do not disturb"
Some lovers just go hungry
Others beg for just a bite
You use me under pressure
