Helen Flanagan puts her pins on parade in a checked miniskirt as she indulges in some retail therapy in Manchester

She's gone back to her blonde 'do over the last week.

And so Helen Flanagan clearly felt like a spot of retail therapy was needed to compliment her new look on Thursday as she stepped out in Manchester.

The Coronation Street actress looked summery in a bright red blouse -  less revealing look to her abs-flashing ensemble earlier in the week at the CBeebies Hotel opening at Alton Towers.

Helen, 26, looked leggy in a checkered monochrome skirt with a lightly frayed hemline, and white slip-on shoes featuring decorative gold buckles.

She carried a large cream and silver bag over her shoulder and wore her newly refreshed locks up on her head, sporting a pair of over-sized shades.

Make-up was fresh and minimal and she toted a shopping back in one hand and a can of drink in the other as she ambled to her car to dump her purchases.

Helen recently reprised her role as Rosie Webster in the ITV soap after taking a break to pursue other projects.

Go gaga for gingham like Helen in a monochrome mini skirt

If there's one print you need to be going gaga for this SS17, it's undoubtedly gingham.

Seen all over the runway at House of Holland, Prada and Peter Jensen, checks have since enjoyed somewhat of a revival as the trend has trickled down on to the high street. Championing checks this week is none other than Helen Flanagan, wearing our new favourite mini skirt...

We love how Helen teamed her Topshop monochrome mini skirt with a bright red blouse - contrasting colour pop alert! - and topped her look off with some classic Gucci mules.

Despite loving her high-flying career as an actress, the mum-of-one discussed how she feels guilty leaving her mum to look after her daughter - whom she shares with her footballer partner Scott Sinclair.

Helen told OK! magazine: 'My mum is doing most of the childcare, but I did get a bit of "mum guilt" when I first had to leave her to go back to Corrie.

'I’ve never felt anything like that before.

'Then I thought, I’m not doing anything wrong – just because I’m going to work doesn’t mean that I’m a bad mum.'

The star sat out of the launch event on Thursday evening for Manchester brasserie Abode - which saw the likes of on-screen sister Brooke Vincent in attendance as well as co-stars Bruno Langley and Catherine Tyldesley.

In fact, similarly to Helen, Catherine debuted a new hair do - having dyed her locks brunette, having previously sported a blonde mane.
