Charlie Day

Charles Peckham "Charlie" Day (born February 9, 1976) is an American actor, musician, producer, comedian, and screenwriter. He is best known for playing Charlie Kelly on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and for his roles in the films Horrible Bosses (2011), Monsters University (2013), Pacific Rim (2013), The Lego Movie (2014), and Horrible Bosses 2 (2014).

Early life

Day was born in New York City, New York. His mother, Mary (née Peckham), was a piano teacher at The Pennfield School in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. His father, Dr. Thomas Charles Day, is a retired professor of music history and music theory at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island. His father is of Italian and Irish descent, and his mother has English with remote Irish and Welsh ancestry. Day spent most of his childhood in Middletown, Rhode Island.

He attended Pennfield School and graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School, both in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. Day starred on the baseball team at the Portsmouth Abbey School, playing shortstop for the Ravens. He received a bachelor's degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts. At Merrimack, he was active in the Onstagers, Merrimack's Student Run Theatre Organization. He also played varsity baseball for the Warriors baseball team. During the summers of his college years, he was active in the training programs at the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Rob McElhenney

Robert "Rob" McElhenney (/ˈmækᵻl.hɛni/; born April 14, 1977) is an American actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. He is best known for playing Mac on the FX/FXX comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He is also one of the creators, developers, and executive producers of the show, which has provided him with writing and directing credits on various episodes.

Early life

McElhenney was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a child, he liked to play tennis and racquetball. He attended Saint Joseph's Preparatory School, and in Spring '13 he established a scholarship fund with his wife and "Sunny" co-star Kaitlin Olson.

Career

McElhenney scored his first major role with a small part in The Devil's Own, followed by small parts in A Civil Action, Wonder Boys, and Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, though his roles in The Devil's Own and Wonder Boys were cut out of the final edits. He later had more substantial parts in Latter Days and The Tollbooth, and a small role in the Law & Order episode "Thrill". At the age of 21, a debut script by McElhenney was optioned with writer-director Paul Schrader attached to direct, before the project fell through after one year of edits and rewrites.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (sometimes referred to as Always Sunny or simply Sunny) is an American television sitcom that premiered on FX on August 4, 2005. It moved to FXX from the ninth season. It was created by Rob McElhenney, who developed it with Glenn Howerton. It is executive produced and primarily written by McElhenney, Howerton, and Charlie Day, all of whom star alongside Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito. The series follows the exploits of "The Gang", a group of self-centered friends who run the Irish bar Paddy's Pub in South Philadelphia.

The series began its eleventh season on January 6, 2016, and has been renewed for a twelfth season.

Premise

The series follows "The Gang", a group of five depraved underachievers: twins Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) and Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson), their friends Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) and Ronald "Mac" McDonald (Rob McElhenney), and (from season 2 onward) Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito), the man who raised Dennis and Dee. The Gang runs the dilapidated Paddy's Pub, an Irish bar in South Philadelphia.

Glenn Howerton

Glenn Franklin Howerton III (born April 13, 1976) is an American actor, producer, and screenwriter. He is known for his role as Dennis Reynolds on the FXX comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, for which he is also a writer and executive producer.

Early life

Howerton was born in Japan, the son of American parents Janice and Glenn Franklin Howerton Jr., a fighter pilot. He grew up in Alabama, London, and South Korea. After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama, he spent two years at New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida. He was part of Group 29 of the Juilliard School's Drama Division (1996–2000), where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. While earning his degree, he worked as a drama teacher at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts in Hancock, New York.

Career

In 2002, Howerton starred as Corey Howard in the ill-fated That '80s Show, and a year later went on to guest star on ER as Dr. Nick Cooper in 2003. He had small roles in the films Must Love Dogs (2005), Serenity (2005), Two Weeks (2006), and The Strangers (2008). He also appeared as a doctor in Crank (2006), and reprised the role in its 2009 sequel, Crank: High Voltage. He planned to be executive producing on the comedy show Boldly Going Nowhere with his It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-creators, but the show has since been shelved. Howerton had a recurring voice role on The Cleveland Show as Ernie Krinklesac, as well as recurring roles on the Fox comedy series The Mindy Project and the FX dark comedy series Fargo. He starred in the 2013 comedy film Coffee Town. Occasionally, he plays with the band The Crash tones.
