Quebec (i/kwᵻˈbɛk/ or /kəˈbɛk/; French: Québec [kebɛk]) is the second-most populous province in Canada. It is the only Canadian province that has a predominantly French-speaking population, and the only one to have French as its sole provincial official language.
Quebec is Canada's largest province by area and its second-largest administrative division; only the territory of Nunavut is larger. It is bordered to the west by the province of Ontario, James Bay, and Hudson Bay; to the north by Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay; to the east by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador; it is bordered on the south by the province of New Brunswick and the U.S. states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. It also shares maritime borders with Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
Quebec is Canada's second most populous province, after Ontario. Most inhabitants live in urban areas near the Saint Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City, the capital. Approximately half of Quebec residents live in the Greater Montreal Area, including the Island of Montreal. English-speaking communities and English-language institutions are concentrated in the west of the island of Montreal but are also significantly present in the Outaouais, Eastern Townships, and Gaspé regions. The Nord-du-Québec region, occupying the northern half of the province, is sparsely populated and inhabited primarily by Aboriginal peoples. The climate around the major cities is four-season continental with cold and snowy winters combined with warm to hot humid summers, but further north long winter seasons dominate and as a result the northern areas of the province are marked by tundra conditions. Even in central Quebec at comparatively southerly latitudes winters are very severe in inland areas.
Chelsea is a municipality located immediately north of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and about 10 km north of Ottawa. Chelsea is located within Canada's National Capital Region. It is the seat of Les Collines-de-l'Outaouais Regional County Municipality. Its population was 6,977 in the Canada 2011 Census.
Chelsea is a triangle-shaped municipality that includes much of the southern and eastern parts of Gatineau Park, and is bordered on the east by the Gatineau River. The southern border is 5 km south of Old Chelsea, and it runs north to the community of Farm Point. Beyond Farm Point lies the municipality of La Pêche and the village of Wakefield.
During WWII, the Royal Canadian Navy wanted to understand more about the propagation of radio waves and how they were affected by the earth’s ionosphere in order that German radio transmissions could be intercepted in a more efficient manner. In co-operation with the National Research Council, the RCN established a "field intensity station" at Chelsea in 1941 to monitor the height of the ionosphere
Camp Fortune is a commercial alpine ski centre. It is located in the municipality of Chelsea in the Gatineau Hills north of Gatineau, Quebec, approximately 15 minutes from Downtown Ottawa, Ontario.
Camp Fortune is composed of 3 sides, the Valley, Meech and Skyline. Pineault, Clifford and Alexander are jointly referred to as The Valley and are considered to host the easier slopes of the ski centre. Meech offers intermediate terrain and Skyline offers advanced terrain.
During the summer, Camp Fortune operates an aerial park and zip lines and offers downhill and cross country mountain biking. In addition the ski lodge is available for rent as a banquet venue.
Ryan Tower, was a 228.9 metre (750 feet) tall guyed mast that was built in 1961, was located at the summit of the Clifford slope. The tower was taken down on Sunday, November 4, 2012 and its functions were transferred to a new, nearby replacement tower.
Camp Fortune Ski Club operates at the hill and provides competitive and 'house' ski racing programmes for children and young adults aged 5 to 18 based on the Nancy Greene and Snowstars approaches.
Chelsea or Chelsey may refer to:
Gatineau Park (French: Parc de la Gatineau) is located in the Outaouais region of Quebec, Canada. Administered by the National Capital Commission as part of the National Capital Region, Gatineau Park is a 361 square kilometres (139 sq mi) wedge of land extending north and west from the city of Gatineau QC. With a perimeter of 179.2 kilometres (111.3 mi), the park includes parts of the municipalities of Chelsea, Pontiac, La Pêche, and the City of Gatineau. The main entrance to the park is 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of downtown Ottawa, Ontario.
The park's area has a long history of human inhabitation and usage predating the arrival of European settlers. Its more recent pre-park history includes various forms of human exploitation such as farming, logging, hunting, and industrial activity. The idea of creating a park in the Gatineau Hills for recreational purposes was proposed as early as 1903. In 1938 money was allotted for the acquisition of Gatineau woodlands (for preservation) and the construction of a parkway.

For this first of Wandering Onwards I headed to Wakefield then stayed in Chelsea, Quebec. My goals for launching this project were and will remain simple, (i) be outdoors; (ii) explore somewhere new; (iii) document the experience. Also, to enjoy some great burgers (thanks to Le Hibou and Chelsea Pub). Wakefield is a beautiful place. Had it been more convenient I would have enjoyed travelling by kayak (definitely worth a return to do). It felt like a place where people appreciated their surroundings and didn't let life lead to worry. I had intended to explore Gatineau as well, however, being new to this whole high-km biking my legs gave out. This is likely a blessing in disguise though because now I can do a full weekend just in Gatineau Hills. When doing new things, most important is st...

In this travel video guide to Quebec City, I travel around Quebec City including its historic Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), stop in at the famed Ice Hotel where visitors spend the night on ice beds, and explore the Winter Carnival, the biggest winter carnival in the world that attracts over 600,000 people a year. I finish up the Winter Carnival by watching a night parade and partying it up at a nighttime outdoor snow rave. * The host, Matt Stabile, of this video is the founder and editor-in-chief of the travel site http://www.TheExpeditioner.com. If you want to experience a Canadian city with a bit of French flair, then you need to visit Quebec City. Situated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, this is a town with good looks and a big heart. We only had a day and a half there, but that was enough time to wander the cobbled streets, catch some street performances, and visit many of the top attractions. The following is a little video of our time in historic Quebec City, Canada highlighting the top 10 things to do and see in this top attractions travel guide: GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/...
Having now visited Quebec City in both the summer and winter I'm officially naming it our favorite city in Canada. I've never visited a city where I felt such a radical difference between seasons. Coming back here in the winter felt like falling in love and rediscovering Quebec City all over again. We bundled up early on a Sunday morning to wander around the Old City before the masses converged. Travel video about destination Ville de Québec in Canada. On behalf of the French crown, in 1608, Samuel de Champlain established a fur trading post from which originated Québec, a city that today looms over the Saint Lawrence River like a majestic fortress. It is the birthplace of French culture in North America. With its small towers and green glimmering roofs, the Chateau Frontenac majestically watches over the city. The castle like hotel was built and lavishly furnished in 1894 by the Canadian Pacific Railway and in 1943, was the rendezvous for the allies who met to prepare for the Normandy Landings. Québec's upper city is encircled by a four kilometre long fortified wall that was alternately built upon by the French and the English. In former times, various gates barred entry to the...
There is no place on earth that embraces winter with as much enthusiasm as Quebec City. Having the chance to participate in the Winter Carnival festivities was an opportunity of a lifetime. What did we do? Well, it's more like what didn't we do. Ice canoeing, dog sledding, sleigh riding and tobogganing to mention just a few. When we weren't exploring the Old Quarters of Quebec City we were off doing things like checking out the magnificent Ice Hotel or visiting with Bonhomme. Overall, it was a celebration of winter that we'll never forget. The following is a complete travel guide to experiencing Quebec City Carnaval. The Canadian province of Quebéc is a traditional wintersports destination. However, it is during the warm summers that its elegant capital, Quebéc City, really comes to life. Visit Quebéc City to get a taste of France in a familiar North American setting. The walled Upper Town, with all its towers and grand buildings, is just as charming as the historic Lower Town. A funicular and the so-called L'Escalier Casse-Cou (Breakneck Stairs) connects the two parts of the heritage-listed city center. The Musée de la Civilisation near the waterfront showcases the history of Quebéc, from the First Nations to modern times. The city sprung up around the Notre Dame basilica at Place Royale. Dufferin Terrace is a long promenade with views of the St. Lawrence River. It is overlooked by the landmark Chât...

It is Canada’s second largest city and has the largest population of French speakers outside of Paris. Here is a Canadian city with a French soul, a big heart and a very hip attitude.
