Chelsea is an affluent area in central London, bounded to the south by the River Thames. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The football club Chelsea F.C. could reasonably be considered to be based in Chelsea, despite being located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London.
The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger being used to describe its residents. Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of young people living there. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside the US, with 6.53% of Chelsea residents being born in the US.

Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (often abbreviated to RBKC) is an inner London borough of Royal borough status, to the west of the centre. As the smallest borough in London and the second smallest district in England, this urban area is one of the most densely populated in the United Kingdom, just behind the London Borough of Islington.
The borough is immediately to the west of the City of Westminster and to the east of Hammersmith & Fulham. It contains major museums and universities in Albertopolis, department stores such as Harrods, Peter Jones and Harvey Nichols, and embassies in Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Kensington Gardens. It is home to the Notting Hill Carnival, Europe's largest. It contains many of the most expensive residential districts in London and even in the world, as well as districts with high levels of social housing and poverty.
The local authority is Kensington and Chelsea London Borough Council. The borough's motto is Quam Bonum in Unum Habitare, which can be roughly translated as 'How good to dwell in unity'.

Kensington
Coordinates: 51°30′00″N 0°11′24″W / 51.500°N 0.190°W / 51.500; -0.190
Kensington is a district within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in west London. The north east is taken up by Kensington Gardens, once private as the name suggests, but today a public park which has Italian and Dutch gardens, public buildings such as the Albert Memorial, the Serpentine Gallery and Speke's monument.
Its commercial heart is Kensington High Street. This affluent and densely populated area contains the major museum district of South Kensington, which has the Royal Albert Hall for music and nearby Royal College of Music. The area is home to many of London's European embassies. Cementing Kensington's indicators of connections with France, the area has the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, French Consulate, French Embassy Cultural Department and the London Oratory on the borders with diminutive Knightsbridge.
Name
The first mention of the area is in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was written in Latin as "Chenesitone", which has been interpreted to have originally been "Kenesignetun" (Kenesigne's land or meadows) in Anglo-Saxon. A variation may be Kesyngton, in 1396.

Kensington Gardens
Kensington Gardens, once the private gardens of Kensington Palace, are one of the Royal Parks of London, lying immediately to the west of Hyde Park. It is shared between the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, lying within western central London. The park covers an area of 111 hectares (270 acres). The open spaces of Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St. James's Park together form an almost continuous "green lung" in the heart of London between Kensington and Westminster.
Kensington Gardens are Grade I listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
Background and location
Kensington Gardens are generally regarded as being the western extent of the neighbouring Hyde Park from which they were originally taken, with West Carriage Drive (The Ring) and the Serpentine Bridge forming the boundary between them. The Gardens are fenced and more formal than Hyde Park. Kensington Gardens are open only during the hours of daylight, whereas Hyde Park is open from 5 am until midnight all year round, which includes many hours of darkness.

Chelsea is an affluent area in central London, bounded to the south by the River Thames. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The football club Chelsea F.C. could reasonably be considered to be based in Chelsea, despite being located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London. The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger being used to describe its residents. Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of young people living there. Shopping in Kensington and Chelsea
The tour starts at one of the most popular shopping destinations in London: Kensington High Street. Kensington High Street boasts many chain stores known throughout the world, such as Marks & Spenser, H&M;, Whole Foods Market, and many more. In Chelsea, King's Road is the place to be. King's Road features many boutiques stores, which you can find all the way up to Sloane Square. From Sloane Square, Sloane Street runs north to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. At Sloane Street, you'll find the best of fashion at stores such as Gucci, Prada, Versace, Jimmy Choo and more. Along Knightsbridge, you'll find Harrods: arguably London's most famous department store.
Culture & Famous Museums in Kensington & Chelsea
In Kensington you can find the Natural History Museum, which boasts over 70 million items in its five main collections Botany, Entomology, Mineralogy, Palaeantology and Zoology. The Science Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum are located just blocks away. The Royal borough of Kensington & Chelsea is the most densely populated in the UK and one of the wealthiest. The borough stretches roughly from Harrow Road in the north to the banks of the Thames in the south, and from Finborough road in the west to Hyde Park in the east. It is the most popular accommodation destination for visitors coming to the city for a short period. The tour starts at one of the most popular shopping destinations in London: Kensington High Street. King's Road features many boutiques stores, which you can find all the way up to Sloane Square. From Sloane Square, Sloane Street runs north to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The football club Chelsea F.C. could reasonably be considered to be based in Chelsea, despite being located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London.
The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger being used to describe its residents. Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of young people living there. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside the US, with 6.53% of Chelsea residents being born in the US.

Why am I doing this? I travel a lot. Too much. And recently I find myself rocking up in a city that I've never been to before and know very little about. On any level. Culture, language, transport, money, food, etc. But most travel shows are an hour-long, US-centric, full of bad information, and almost exclusively aimed at tourists. So I wanted to create something different. Something aimed at the frequent traveller, something portable and short-form. Something...useful.
In our pilot episode we get you in, out, and around the wonderful city of London, England. We tell you the best way to get from the airport into the city, the best way to get around, how much things cost, and why you should ALWAYS stand on the right.
In follow up episodes we'll be adding a food and drink segment, as well as tips on how to avoid those awkward social and business faux pas.

So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.

The Tower of London sits on the north bank of the River Thames.

So Hello from London! Time for a new destination. This is a city that I haven't visited in almost 4 years. So we're both very excited to be in London. And we're going to be making a little video guide. Actually a really big video guide because we plan on showing you 50 different things to do around London.
Our first stop was Trafalgar Square. This square leads to a lot of central attractions, so it's a nice place to people watch, get your bearings, and plan out where you want to go in the city.
The London Eye is a giant Ferris wheel on the South Bank of the Thames. It offers a bird's eye view of the city.

Chelsea - London - England
Chelsea is an affluent area in central London, bounded to the south by the River Thames. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. Notting Hill & Kensington Gardens
Next on the tour is Notting Hill, which lies to the northwest of Kensington Gardens. Anyone who's ever seen the movie Notting Hill starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts will be familiar with the beautiful colored houses of Portobello Road and the secluded private gardens of the neighborhood. Its frontage runs from Chelsea Bridge along the Chelsea Embankment, Cheyne Walk, Lots Road and Chelsea Harbour. Its eastern boundary was once defined by the River Westbourne, which is now in a pipe above Sloane Square tube station. The modern eastern boundary is Chelsea Bridge Road and the lower half of Sloane Street, including Sloane Square. To the north and northwest, the area fades into Knightsbridge and Brompton, but it is safe to say that the area north of King's Road as far northwest as Fulham Road is part of Chelsea. The football club Chelsea F.C. could reasonably be considered to be based in Chelsea, despite being located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
The district is part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. From 1900, and until the creation of Greater London in 1965, it formed the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea in the County of London.
The exclusivity of Chelsea as a result of its high property prices has historically resulted in the term Sloane Ranger being used to describe its residents. Since 2011, Channel 4 has broadcast a reality television show called Made in Chelsea, documenting the "glitzy" lives of young people living there. Moreover, Chelsea is home to one of the largest communities of Americans living outside the US, with 6.53% of Chelsea residents being born in the US.
