The Sentinel (1977 film)
The Sentinel is a 1977 American horror film directed by Michael Winner and starring Cristina Raines, Chris Sarandon, Ava Gardner, Burgess Meredith, Sylvia Miles, and Eli Wallach. The film also features Christopher Walken, Jeff Goldblum, John Carradine, Jerry Orbach, Tom Berenger, and Beverly D'Angelo in supporting roles. It is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Konvitz who also co-wrote the screenplay with director Michael Winner.
The plot focuses on a young model who moves into a historic Brooklyn brownstone that has been sectioned into apartments, only to find that its proprietors are excommunicated Catholic priests, and the building is a gateway to hell.
The film was released by Universal Pictures in 1977. It is completely unrelated to the 2006 political thriller of the same name.
Plot
Alison Parker, a beautiful but severely neurotic fashion model (Raines) moves into a gorgeous Brooklyn brownstone house that has been divided into apartments. The house is inhabited on the top floor by Father Halliran (John Carradine), a reclusive blind priest who spends all of his time sitting at his open window. Alison begins having strange physical problems, including insomnia, and has some terrifying flashbacks of her attempted suicides. She complains to the real estate agent of the noise caused by her strange neighbors, only to be told that the house is occupied only by the priest and herself. The behavior of her "non-existent" neighbors becomes increasingly surreal and disturbing.

The Sentinel_1977(Horror) 4 nominations অনেক দিন পর হরর মুভি দেখা শুরু করলাম । লাক বাই চান্স একটা ভালো মুভির সন্ধান পেলাম । মুভিটার মেকিং এতো অসাধারণ আর সেই সাথে এতো বেসি সাসপেন্স রাখা হয়েছে যে শেষটা দেখা না পর্যন্ত উঠাই যাচ্ছিল না । অভিনয় ,প্লট আবহাওয়া সব কিছু মিলিয়ে পারফেক্ট একটা মুভি । মুভি সম্পর্কে সামান্য কিছু কথা বলে রাখা ভালো কোন হাউ মাউ কাউ টাইপ মুভি না । একটা কাহিনীর উপর বেস করে নির্মাণ করা । সাসপেন্স , ডিটেকটিভ একটা পুরানো বাড়ি আর ক্রিশ্চিয়ান দের কিছু ঘটনা কে কেন্দ্র করে মুভিটা এগিয়েছে । নায়িকা একজন ছোটখাটো মডেল । টিভিতে অ্যাড করে । সে সিধান্নত নেয় নিজের মত করে একা থাকবে তাই সে একটা ফ্ল্যাট ভাড়া নেয় । সেই ফ্ল্যাট এ কিছুদিন থাকার পর কিছু অদ্ভুত জিনিষ দেখতে পায় সে । ব্যাপারটা নায়কের সাথে শেয়ার করে । নায়ক একজন ডিটেকটিভ দিয়ে ব্যাপারটা জানার চেষ্টা করে । কিছুদিন পর একটা খুন হয় , সেই খুনের রহস্য বের করতে গিয়ে ডিটেকটিভ রা এই পুরানো বাড়ির রহস্য এর মধ্যে জড়িয়ে পরে । কোন কিছুরই যখন কোন হদীস পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না তখন নায়ক নিজেই নেমে পরে রহস্য উদ্ঘাতন করতে । এই রহস্য খুজতে গিয়ে চাঞ্চল্যকর সব তথ্য বের হয়ে আসে আর নায়ক জানতে পারে নায়িকা আসলে...কি । এইটুকু জানতে হলে মুভিটা দেখতে হবে। হতাস হবেন না ...ভয়ের কোন দৃশ্য নেই মুভিতে কিন্তু রাতের বেলা অই বাড়িতে কিছু ঘটনা ঘটে অই ব্যাপারগুলো এতো চমৎকার ভাবে দেখানো হয়েছে । হরর আর সাসপেন্স এর মিশ্রণ টা পরিচালক চমৎকার ভাবে করেছে । Not ready for marriage, a fashion model moves into an unbelievably cheap Brooklyn Heights apartment, where weird occurrences turn into a much more frightening turn of events. FILM DESCRIPTION: A man who has devoted himself to serving the leader of the free world is accused of plotting against him in this thriller. Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) is a veteran Secret Service agent who has had a long and distinguished career helping protect the president of the United States. David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) is a fellow Secret Service agent who learned most of what he knows from Garrison and holds him in great respect. When intelligence data suggests that there is a mole within the Secret Service who is part of a plot to assassinate President Ballentine (David Rasche), Garrison launches an investigation to ferret out the rogue agent, and asks Breckinridge to go over the evidence with a fine-toothed comb. Breckinridge is shocked when the clues point to Garrison as the traitor within the Secret Service, but his sense of duty compels him to see that his former mentor is placed under arrest. Garrison eludes his captors and struggles to prove his innocence while tracking down the real conspirator and eluding the agents who were once his colleagues. As Breckinridge leads the search for Garrison, another ranking agent, Jill Marin (Eva Longoria) plays devil's advocate, convinced that Garrison couldn't possibly be the rat in the house. After spending years in the Peruvian jungle during his tour in Army Special Forces, Cascade PD Detective James Ellison developed hyperactive senses, which came back to him five years after his return to the US. He can see people in darkened windows at night from two hundred yards, hear the music playing on the radio of the car he's chasing after he's lost sight of it, and can distinguish between wood and plastic after both have been in a three thousand degree fire. Blair Sandburg, a local anthropology student, tells Ellison that he is a "Sentinel," who in ancient tribes would protect the village and seek out game using such hyperactive senses. Sandburg becomes Ellison's back-watcher and teacher of how to use his new powers as Ellison brings a whole new edge to the war on crime in Cascade, Washington.

The Sentinel_1977(Horror) 4 nominations অনেক দিন পর হরর মুভি দেখা শুরু করলাম । লাক বাই চান্স একটা ভালো মুভির সন্ধান পেলাম । মুভিটার মেকিং এতো অসাধারণ আর সেই সাথে এতো বেসি সাসপেন্স রাখা হয়েছে যে শেষটা দেখা না পর্যন্ত উঠাই যাচ্ছিল না । অভিনয় ,প্লট আবহাওয়া সব কিছু মিলিয়ে পারফেক্ট একটা মুভি । মুভি সম্পর্কে সামান্য কিছু কথা বলে রাখা ভালো কোন হাউ মাউ কাউ টাইপ মুভি না । একটা কাহিনীর উপর বেস করে নির্মাণ করা । সাসপেন্স , ডিটেকটিভ একটা পুরানো বাড়ি আর ক্রিশ্চিয়ান দের কিছু ঘটনা কে কেন্দ্র করে মুভিটা এগিয়েছে । নায়িকা একজন ছোটখাটো মডেল । টিভিতে অ্যাড করে । সে সিধান্নত নেয় নিজের মত করে একা থাকবে তাই সে একটা ফ্ল্যাট ভাড়া নেয় । সেই ফ্ল্যাট এ কিছুদিন থাকার পর কিছু অদ্ভুত জিনিষ দেখতে পায় সে । ব্যাপারটা নায়কের সাথে শেয়ার করে । নায়ক একজন ডিটেকটিভ দিয়ে ব্যাপারটা জানার চেষ্টা করে । কিছুদিন পর একটা খুন হয় , সেই ...

FILM DESCRIPTION:
A man who has devoted himself to serving the leader of the free world is accused of plotting against him in this thriller. Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) is a veteran Secret Service agent who has had a long and distinguished career helping protect the president of the United States. David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) is a fellow Secret Service agent who learned most of what he knows from Garrison and holds him in great respect. When intelligence data suggests that there is a mole within the Secret Service who is part of a plot to assassinate President Ballentine (David Rasche), Garrison launches an investigation to ferret out the rogue agent, and asks Breckinridge to go over the evidence with a fine-toothed comb. Breckinridge is shocked when the clues point to Garrison as the traitor within the Secret Service, but his sense of duty compels him to see that his former mentor is placed under arrest. Garrison eludes his captors and struggles to prove his innocence while tracking down the real conspirator and eluding the agents who were once his colleagues. After Pete (Michael Douglas) secures the house and the other agent leaves, Pete and Sarah (Kim Basinger) begin kissing passionately.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A man who has devoted himself to serving the leader of the free world is accused of plotting against him in this thriller. Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) is a veteran Secret Service agent who has had a long and distinguished career helping protect the president of the United States. David Breckinridge (Kiefer Sutherland) is a fellow Secret Service agent who learned most of what he knows from Garrison and holds him in great respect. When intelligence data suggests that there is a mole within the Secret Service who is part of a plot to assassinate President Ballentine (David Rasche), Garrison launches an investigation to ferret out the rogue agent, and asks Breckinridge to go over the evidence with a fine-toothed comb. Breckinridge is shocked when the clues point to Garrison as the traitor within the Secret Service, but his sense of duty compels him to see that his former mentor is placed under arrest. Garrison eludes his captors and struggles to prove his innocence while tracking down the real conspirator and eluding the agents who were once his colleagues. অনেক দিন পর হরর মুভি দেখা শুরু করলাম । লাক বাই চান্স একটা ভালো মুভির সন্ধান পেলাম । মুভিটার মেকিং এতো অসাধারণ আর সেই সাথে
এতো বেসি সাসপেন্স রাখা হয়েছে যে শেষটা দেখা না পর্যন্ত উঠাই যাচ্ছিল না । অভিনয় ,প্লট আবহাওয়া সব কিছু মিলিয়ে পারফেক্ট একটা মুভি ।
মুভি সম্পর্কে সামান্য কিছু কথা
বলে রাখা ভালো কোন হাউ মাউ কাউ টাইপ মুভি না । একটা কাহিনীর উপর বেস করে নির্মাণ করা । সাসপেন্স , ডিটেকটিভ একটা পুরানো বাড়ি আর ক্রিশ্চিয়ান দের কিছু ঘটনা কে কেন্দ্র করে মুভিটা এগিয়েছে । নায়িকা একজন ছোটখাটো মডেল । টিভিতে অ্যাড করে । সে সিধান্নত নেয় নিজের মত করে একা থাকবে তাই সে একটা ফ্ল্যাট ভাড়া নেয় । সেই ফ্ল্যাট এ কিছুদিন থাকার পর কিছু অদ্ভুত জিনিষ দেখতে পায় সে । ব্যাপারটা নায়কের সাথে শেয়ার করে । নায়ক একজন ডিটেকটিভ দিয়ে ব্যাপারটা জানার চেষ্টা করে । কিছুদিন পর একটা খুন হয় , সেই খুনের রহস্য বের করতে গিয়ে ডিটেকটিভ রা এই পুরানো বাড়ির রহস্য এর মধ্যে জড়িয়ে পরে । কোন কিছুরই যখন কোন হদীস পাওয়া যাচ্ছিল না তখন নায়ক নিজেই নেমে পরে রহস্য উদ্ঘাতন করতে । এই রহস্য খুজতে গিয়ে চাঞ্চল্যকর সব তথ্য বের হয়ে আসে আর নায়ক জানতে পারে নায়িকা আসলে...কি । এইটুকু জানতে হলে মুভিটা দেখতে হবে। হতাস হবেন না ...ভয়ের কোন দৃশ্য নেই মুভিতে কিন্তু রাতের বেলা অই বাড়িতে কিছু ঘটনা ঘটে অই ব্যাপারগুলো এতো চমৎকার ভাবে দেখানো হয়েছে । হরর আর সাসপেন্স এর মিশ্রণ টা পরিচালক চমৎকার ভাবে করেছে ।

Borderlands The Pre Sequel | The Legendary Run | Part 33 | The Sentinel
Welcome to The Legendary Run This will be a Lets play of Borderlands The Pre Sequel but with a slight difference. Playing through the story as usual but I cannot progress until I get the current boss to drop his Legendary weapon. If no boss is available for that episode il be farming the Vending Machine or the Grinder in which to find a Legendary Weapon, Shield, Class Mod, Grenade or Oz Kit. Wether it takes 1 run or 200 runs I must stay farming that boss until he drops his Legendary. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Australia, with assistance from Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. It is the third game in the Borderlands series, serving as an interquel between the original Borderlands released in 2009 and its 2012 sequel Borderlands 2. It was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux/Steam OS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 14 October 2014. The rumored existence of the game was first reported on 7 April 2014, and it was officially announced two days later on 9 April 2014.
Similarly to previous Borderlands titles, the game combines FPS gameplay with mechanics common to role-playing video games (such as quests, character building and randomly generated "loot"), and collaborative multiplayer campaign gameplay. The storyline of The Pre-Sequel focus on four playable characters—all of whom were NPCs or enemies in previous Borderlands games, working as henchmen for Handsome Jack, the antagonist of Borderlands 2. The plot follows Handsome Jack's descent into villainy, focusing on his escape and capture of the Hyperion company's base on Pandora's moon Elpis. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! is a first-person shooter video game developed by 2K Australia, with assistance from Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games. It is the third game in the Borderlands series, serving as an interquel between the original Borderlands released in 2009 and its 2012 sequel Borderlands 2. It was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux/Steam OS, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 14 October 2014. The rumored existence of the game was first reported on 7 April 2014, and it was officially announced two days later on 9 April 2014.
Similarly to previous Borderlands titles, the game combines FPS gameplay with mechanics common to role-playing video games (such as quests, character building and randomly generated "loot"), and collaborative multiplayer campaign gameplay. The storyline of The Pre-Sequel focus on four playable characters—all of whom were NPCs or enemies in previous Borderlands games, working as henchmen for Handsome Jack, the antagonist of Borderlands 2. The plot follows Handsome Jack's descent into villainy, focusing on his escape and capture of the Hyperion company's base on Pandora's moon Elpis. The game expands upon the engine and gameplay of Borderlands 2 and introduced new gameplay mechanics, including low-gravity environments, freeze weapons, and oxygen tanks which are used to navigate environments and perform special attacks.

"The Sentinel" is a short story written by Arthur C. Clarke in 1948 and first published in 1951, which was used as a starting point for the novel and movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, where it was modified and fused with other ideas. Clarke expressed impatience with its common description as the story that the novel and movie are based on. He explained: "I am continually annoyed by careless references to 'The Sentinel' as 'the story on which 2001 is based'; it bears about as much relation to the movie as an acorn to the resultant full-grown oak. (Considerably less, in fact, because ideas from several other stories were also incorporated.) Even the elements that Stanley Kubrick and I did actually use were considerably modified. Thus the 'glittering, roughly pyramidal structure... set in the rock like a gigantic, many-faceted jewel' became—after several modifications—the famous black monolith. And the locale was moved from the Mare Crisium to the most spectacular of all lunar craters, Tycho—easily visible to the naked eye from Earth at Full Moon."

Alley & MacLellan was founded in 1875 and was based in Polmadie, Glasgow. This company continued in operation until the 1950s. Initially manufacturing valves and compressors for steam engines, and later whole steamships, Alley & MacLellan acquired Simpson and Bibby of Horsehay, manufacturer of steam powered road vehicles, in 1903.[1] They began producing steam road vehicles in 1905 and in 1906 introduced a 5 ton vertical-boiler wagon, which featured a 2-cylinder undertype engine and chain drive.
Alley & MacLellan continued to operate in the original Sentinel Works in Jessie Street, Glasgow until the 1950s. They produced a wide range of engineering products including compressors,[3] valves, etc. The 'Sentinel' name continued to be used for the products of the original Glasgow works until the mid 20th Century.

In 1920, after financial problems, the company was reorganised as Sentinel Waggon Works (1920) Ltd. The Sentinel 'Super' model that followed in 1923 was assembled in a radical new plant at Shrewsbury, with a flow line based on Henry Ford’s Model T factory at Highland Park, Michigan, with 1,550 vehicles produced.
Sentinel, along with Foden, dominated the steam market, but the 1930s saw the demise of both companies' ranges as new legislation forced the development of lighter lorries, Sentinel surviving the longest.
In 1934 Sentinel launched a new and advanced steamer – the S type which had a single-acting 4-cylinder underfloor engine with longitudinal crankshaft and an overhead worm-drive axle. Their Sentinel Waggon Works' design of 1935 led to the production of 3,750 Sentinel 'Standards' in the seventeen years that followed, the biggest selling steam lorry ever. It was lighter and featured a modernised driver's cab with a set-back boiler and was available in four, six and eight-wheel form, designated S4, S6 and S8. In spite of its sophisticated design, however, it could not compete with contemporary diesel trucks for all-round convenience and payload capacity, and was phased out in the late 1930s. It was not the end of Sentinel's involvement with steam, however; the company built about 100 "S" type vehicles for export to Argentina as late as 1950, for use by the Río Turbio coal mine.[4] It has been stated that Sentinel were never paid for the last batch of the Río Turbio production run. At least two of the Río Turbio waggons survive in Argentina to this day.
