A shopping mall is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of shopping precinct or shopping center, in which one or more buildings form a complex of shops representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from unit to unit. A shopping arcade is a specific form serving the same purpose. Many early shopping arcades such the Burlington Arcade in London, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and numerous arcades in Paris are famous and still trading. However, many smaller arcades have been demolished, replaced with large centers or "malls", often accessible by vehicle. Technical innovations such as electric lighting and escalators were introduced from the late 19th century. From the late 20th century, entertainment venues such as movie theaters and restaurants began to be added. As a single built structure, early shopping centers were often architecturally significant constructions, enabling wealthier patrons to buy goods in spaces protected from the weather.

Liverpool ONE is a shopping, residential and leisure complex in Liverpool, England.

The project, previously known as The Paradise Project, involved the redevelopment of 42 acres (170,000 m²) of underutilised land in Liverpool city centre. It is a retail led development, anchored by department stores Debenhams and John Lewis, with additional elements including leisure facilities (anchored by a 14-screen Odeon cinema and 36-hole adventure golf centre), apartments, offices, public open space and transport improvements. The completion of Liverpool ONE has significantly boosted the local economy as well as lifted Liverpool into the top five most popular retail destinations in the UK. Liverpool ONE is the largest open air shopping centre in the United Kingdom and the 5th largest overall.

The majority of the development was opened in phases on 29 May 2008 and 1 October 2008, during Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture, whilst the final residential units opened in early 2009. The cost of construction associated with the project was £500 million, with a total investment value of £920 million.

Square One Shopping Centre is a shopping centre located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. It is one of the largest shopping centres in Canada and the largest shopping centre in Ontario, with over 1,700,000 square feet (160,000 m²) of retail space and more than 360 stores and services.

Square One is located at 100 City Centre Drive in Downtown Mississauga, about 28 km (17 mi) from Downtown Toronto and 16 km (9.9 mi) from Toronto Pearson International Airport. Square One's location is adjacent to the interchange of Highway 403 and Hurontario Street.

The mall is near the Mississauga Civic Centre, the Mississauga Living Arts Centre, residential condominiums, Mississauga's Central Library, a Chapters bookstore, and a 13-screen Cineplex Cinemas movie theatre featuring an IMAX screen.

Located within the mall grounds is the main terminal of MiWay (formerly Mississauga Transit) bus network, which was opened in 1997, and a Peel Regional Police station, which was opened in 2002.
