Temppeliaukio Church (Finnish: Temppeliaukion kirkko, Swedish: Tempelplatsens kyrka) is a Lutheran church in the Töölö neighborhood of Helsinki. The church was designed by architects and brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen and opened in 1969. Built directly into solid rock, it is also known as the Church of the Rock and Rock Church.
Plans for the Temppeliaukio/Tempelplatsen (Temple square) was started as early as the 1930s when a plot of land was selected for the building and a competition for the design was started. The plan by J. S. Siren, the winner of the second competition to design the architecture of the church, was interrupted in its early stages when World War II began in 1939. After the war, there was another architectural competition, which was won by Timo Suomalainen and Tuomo Suomalainen in 1961. For economic reasons, the suggested plan was scaled back and the interior space of the church was reduced to about one-quarter of the original plan. Construction finally began in February 1968, and the rock-temple was completed for consecration in September 1969.
Finland (i/ˈfɪnlənd/; Finnish: Suomi [suomi]; Swedish: Finland [ˈfɪnland]), officially the Republic of Finland, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, a peninsula with Gulf of Finland to the south and Gulf of Bothnia to the west. It has land borders with Sweden and Norway to the north and Russia to the east. Finland is part of the geographic region of Fennoscandia, which also includes Scandinavia and parts of Russia.
Finland's population is 5.5 million (2014), staying roughly on the same level with only about 9% increase in 24 years since the last economic depression in 1990. The majority live in the southern regions. The single largest group of foreigners living in Finland are Russians and Estonians, 36% of all of the foreigners (2014). In terms of area, it is the eighth largest country in Europe and the most sparsely populated country in the European Union. Finland is a parliamentary republic with a central government based in the capital Helsinki, local governments in 317 municipalities, and an autonomous region, the Åland Islands. Over 1.4 million people live in the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area, which produces a third of the country's GDP. Other large cities include Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, and Kuopio.

The square was full of party atmosphere, noisy and mess. Afterward I had a look inside the Helsinki Cathedral - quite cool in comparison to German churches. Heading back to Finland - and specifically Helsinki - was our greatest surprise this summer. As the capital city, it has the attractions any big city offers, yet it somehow retains plenty of small town charm. One of the main reasons is that you're never far from nature. Hop on a bicycle or kayak and you within a few kilometers you'll feel as though you're all alone at one with nature. Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a small gem to be discovered and because of its size and the surrounding areas it can be easily visited by feet. If you want to see the city at its best then you’ve to go in spring or summer when people go for a picnic in the parks, dine on the terrace and hopping from one event to another. I'm a BIG dreamer. This is what my mother used to tell me. When I was 5 years old my school teacher contacted my parents because of my drawings. I was obsessed by it and instead of listening the lesson, my mind was in a different world. When I was a kid, I used to have a lot of nightmares. I thought that creatures wanted to eat me. As soon as I started to paint, my nightmares were gone and my life drastically changed. My monsters became my friends, my family, my brothers. They always talk to me and I like to listen their advice, they guide me. 7 years ago I started to paint on photos. It was a way for me to give another life to places, people and actions that I love. Putting my monsters in existing situations makes me feel like I was there when the photo was taken. "Once Upon a Place" i...

FICHTELGEBIRGE AND PORCELAIN (DVD PORZELLANIKON 2011 - The Trailer) Fichtelgebirge and porcelain – a unique fusion in the heart of Europe! – Imagine a cyclops randomly hurling enormous rocks as high as houses - and you have a picture of the landscape in the Fichtelbirge . Generations of people living within this „granite horseshoe“ made it the centre of European porcelain manufacture. Even today, designers, craftsmen and workers are inspired by this breath-taking landscape, which is portrayed in their products of world-renowned manufactuers of „white gold“. Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuter, who originated fromThuringia, laid the foundation stone for the porcelain industry in Fichtelgebirge.
