I'm half Viet and Chinese, so this was an analogy of my cultural mix... not really. It's just a fun video HAHA

Since so many people are asking the same questions I'll just put it here:
I am white American, my parents are white, my grandparents are white (French).
I learned Vietnamese through full immersion starting when I was 15. I was married to a Vietnamese man from Vũng Tàu in 1993, I went to school with Vietnamese people (nail tech), I worked with Vietnamese people (nail salons), lived in a Vietnamese community (Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana), watched Vietnamese tv (I love phim tình cảm and hate phim bộ), and I ate Vietnamese food (my favorite is canh chua). In 1999 I went to Vietnam (Vũng Tàu-Southern Vietnam) and was forced to speak Vietnamese since no one spoke English. That is where I met the lady I'm speaking to on the phone. We were inseparable during my 4 month trip. Around 2001 she came to the US and we picked up right where we left off. She taught me so much Vietnamese and in return I taught her English. Her family is from the North so I learned a lot of Northern sayings, although my children and I were chastised by their family for speaking with a Northern accent so we have developed mostly a Southern accent. I was to the point that I thought and dreamed in Vietnamese. I divorced in 2005 and moved away to an area with no Vietnamese people. Since then I have lost so much. I no longer dream in Vietnamese which makes me sad. I don't think in Vietnamese either. Now I have to think of what I want to say and translate it. It takes me longer to process spoken language too. Also my reading and writing have suffered greatly but I have a deep passion for the Vietnamese people, language, and culture.

Vietnamese people
The Vietnamese people or the Kinh people (Vietnamese: người Việt (Vietnamese pronunciation: [ŋɨəj˨˩ viət˩]), or người Kinh (Vietnamese pronunciation: [ŋɨəj˨˩ kiɲ˧])), are an Asian ethnic group originating from present-day northern Vietnam and southern China. They are the majority ethnic group of Vietnam, comprising 86% of the population at the 1999 census, and are officially known as Kinh to distinguish them from other ethnic groups in Vietnam. The earliest recorded name for the ancient Vietnamese people appears as Lạc.
Although geographically and linguistically labeled as Southeast Asians, long periods of Chinese domination and influence have placed the Vietnamese culturally closer to East Asians, or more specifically their immediate northern neighbours, the Southern Chinese and other tribes within South China. The word Việt is shortened from Bách Việt, a name used in ancient times. Nam means "south".
Origins
Written history knows the ancient Vietnamese people first simply as the Lạc or Lạc Việt, and the country of Vietnam as Văn Lang. Archaeological evidence of the Đông Sơn culture (also known as Lac Society) suggests that Bronze Age Vietnamese people were among the first to practice agriculture.

This is my first Asian gangster video! The Vietnamese gang encounters their deadly rivals, the Chinese gang LOL
I'm half Viet and Chinese, so this was an analogy of my cultural mix... not really. It's just a fun video HAHA
I asked fans who wanted to be in my next video (Facebook post) and hundreds of people messaged me with interested.
It was an exciting new experience. We had a lot of laughs, stood in the cold but got the job done!

Since so many people are asking the same questions I'll just put it here:
I am white American, my parents are white, my grandparents are white (French).
I learned Vietnamese through full immersion starting when I was 15. I was married to a Vietnamese man from Vũng Tàu in 1993, I went to school with Vietnamese people (nail tech), I worked with Vietnamese people (nail salons), lived in a Vietnamese community (Baton Rouge and New Orleans, Louisiana), watched Vietnamese tv (I love phim tình cảm and hate phim bộ), and I ate Vietnamese food (my favorite is canh chua). In 1999 I went to Vietnam (Vũng Tàu-Southern Vietnam) and was forced to speak Vietnamese since no one spoke English. That is where I met the lady I'm speaking to on the phone. We were inseparable during my 4 month trip. Around 2001 she came to the US and we picked up right where we left off. She taught me so much Vietnamese and in return I taught her English. Her family is from the North so I learned a lot of Northern sayings, although my children and I were chastised by their family for speaking with a Northern accent so we have developed mostly a Southern accent. I was to the point that I thought and dreamed in Vietnamese. I divorced in 2005 and moved away to an area with no Vietnamese people. Since then I have lost so much. I no longer dream in Vietnamese which makes me sad. I don't think in Vietnamese either. Now I have to think of what I want to say and translate it. It takes me longer to process spoken language too. Also my reading and writing have suffered greatly but I have a deep passion for the Vietnamese people, language, and culture.
