Michael /ˈmaɪkəl/ is a male given name that comes from the Hebrew: מִיכָאֵל / מיכאל (Mīkhāʼēl, pronounced [miχaˈʔel]), derived from the question מי כאל mī kāʼēl, meaning "Who is like God?" (literally, "Who is like El?). In English, it is sometimes shortened to Mike, Mikey, Mickey, or Mick.
Female forms of Michael include Michelle, Michele, Michaela, Mechelle, Micheline, and Michaelle, although Michael is occasionally seen as a female name; women named Michael include actresses Michael Learned and Michael Michele. Another form is Mychal, which can either be a male or female name.
Patronymic surnames that come from Michael include Michaels, Carmichael, MacMichael, McMichael, Micallef, Michaelson, Mikkelsen, DiMichele, Mikhaylov, Mykhaylenko, Mikeladze, Michels, and Mitchell.
The name first appears in the Hebrew Bible in the Book of Numbers, 13:13 where Sethur the son of Michael is one of 12 spies sent into the Land of Canaan. The archangel Michael features in the Book of Daniel 12:1, and in the Qur'an as Mikhail.

Earl Rudolph "Bud" Powell (September 27, 1924 – July 31, 1966) was a jazz pianist, born and raised in Harlem, New York City. While Thelonious Monk became his close friend, his greatest influence on piano was Art Tatum.
Along with Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie, Powell was a leading figure in the development of modern jazz, or bebop. His virtuosity led many to call him the Charlie Parker of the piano. Powell was also a composer, and he "greatly extended the range of jazz harmony."
Powell's father was a stride pianist. Powell took to his father's instrument at a very young age, starting on classical-piano lessons at age five. His teacher, hired by his father, was a West Indian man named Rawlins.
But by age ten, Powell also showed interest in the swing-era jazz that could be heard all over the neighborhood. He first appeared in public at a rent party, where he mimicked Fats Waller's playing style. The first jazz composition that he mastered was James P. Johnson's "Carolina Shout".
The Bloomingdale School is a historic former school building at 327 Plantation Street in Worcester, Massachusetts. Built in 1896, it is a notable local example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. It was used as a school until 1982, after which it was converted into residences. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
The former Bloomingdale School stands at the northwest corner of Plantation Street and Tampa Street in central Worcester. It is a large 2-1/2 story brick building with a hip roof and a high basement, which is separated from the first floor by a rusticated brownstone water table. Its main facade, facing roughly east, is dominated by a pair of projecting octagonal bays, which flank the main entrance, which is recessed under an archway. Tall sash windows line the walls on either side of these bays, with flat lintels on the first level, and either round-arch or segmented-arch tops on the second level.
Set in the middle of Edinburgh, Arthur's Seat is a warm, natural and peaceful place. It was the perfect location to hear and see Michael play his tunes. The song "Birds And The Bees" has been co-written with Rob Ashlin, for Helena. I'm happy I can revive these moments thanks to this video, and hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.

The Hoover Institution hosted "Central Bank Governance & Oversight Reform: A Panel Discussion" on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 10:00am - 12:00pm EST. A discussion of Central Bank Governance & Oversight Reform was held with economists and former Fed officials Michael Bordo, John Cochrane, Charles Plosser, John Taylor, and Kevin Warsh. Central bank governance and oversight is contentious with conflicting public attitudes and heated debates in Congress about proposed legislation to constrain the Fed's actions and interventions. Successful monetary policy and financial regulation require a careful balance between Fed independence, guidance by statutes limiting and governing the Fed's behavior, and oversight by elected officials. How should we balance the central bank's authority and ind...
