Clement Graham Crowden (30 November 1922 – 19 October 2010) was a Scottish actor. He was best known for his many appearances in television comedy dramas and films, often playing eccentric "offbeat" scientist, teacher and doctor characters.
Crowden was born in Edinburgh, the son of Anne Margaret (née Paterson) and Harry Graham Crowden. He was educated at Clifton Hall School and the Edinburgh Academy before serving briefly in the Royal Scots Youth Battalion of the army until he was injured in a bizarre accident. During arms drill he was shot by his platoon sergeant, when the sergeant's rifle discharged. The sergeant reportedly enquired "What is it now, Crowden?", to which Crowden replied "I think you've shot me, sergeant." He later found work in a tannery.
Crowden had a long and distinguished theatrical career, most notably at Laurence Olivier's National Theatre where he performed as The Player King in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, the play by Tom Stoppard.
Stephanie Cole, OBE (born 5 October 1941) is an English stage, television, radio and film actress, best known for high-profile television roles in shows such as Tenko (1981–85), Open All Hours (1982–85), A Bit of a Do (1989), Waiting for God (1990–94), Keeping Mum (1997–98), Doc Martin (2004–09), Still Open All Hours (2013–present) and as Sylvia Goodwin in ITV soap opera Coronation Street (2011–13).
She won Best TV Actress at the 1992 British Comedy Awards for her role in Waiting For God and won Best Comedy Performance at the 2012 British Soap Awards for her role in Coronation Street. She was made an OBE in the 2005 Queens Birthday Honours.
Born Patricia Stephanie Cole in Solihull, Warwickshire, Cole trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School from 1958 to 1960 and went on to consolidate her acting skills in repertory theatres around the United Kingdom. She made her stage debut at the age of seventeen playing the eccentric, elderly medium Madame Arcati in Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit. At the age of 63 she returned to the same role when the play was revived at the West End's Savoy Theatre in 2004.

Doctor Who meets Narnia, sort of. A mashup of the delightful Graham Crowden (Soldeed in The Horns of Nimon) with the equally melodramatic Barbara Kellerman (Jadis, the White Witch). Who's the more barmy? You decide.

The final speech by Professor Millar (Graham Crowden) from Lindsay Anderson's dark comedy Britannia Hospital. More timely now then ever.
As recommended in 'Doctor Who Magazine' issue 512 (June 2017) and promoted by BBC America as "exceptional" - this is a glimpse of how Doctor Who may have looked in an alternative 1970s if casting decisions had been accepted. Back in the '70s the title role was originally offered to a number of other actors before either Jon Pertwee or Tom Baker were cast in the part. For various reasons these offers never materialised into contracts to play the Doctor. This video is a window to an alternative reality where these initial choices took the job and starred in the series. The video thumbnail is based on a design concept by Daniel Berrecloth. The concept of the video was suggested to me by Mark Gatiss. If this video does well I shall invest the time and effort into making ‘The Almost Doctors...
