Fire It Up may refer to:
Modest Mouse is an American indie rock band based in Portland, Oregon. They were formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, by singer/lyricist/guitarist Isaac Brock, drummer Jeremiah Green, and bassist Eric Judy. Since their 1996 debut album, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, their lineup has centered around Brock, Green and Judy. Guitarist Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths) joined the band in May 2006, along with percussionist Joe Plummer (formerly of the Black Heart Procession) and multi-instrumentalist Tom Peloso, to work on the album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. Guitarist Jim Fairchild joined the band in February 2009. Their name is derived from a passage from the Virginia Woolf story "The Mark on the Wall" which reads, "I wish I could hit upon a pleasant track of thought, a track indirectly reflecting credit upon myself, for those are the pleasantest thoughts, and very frequent even in the minds of modest, mouse-coloured people, who believe genuinely that they dislike to hear their own praises."
Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr., (born May 20, 1972), better known by his stage name Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper, producer and actor. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the alias Busta Rhymes after NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes. Early in his career, he was known for his wild style and fashion, and today is best known for his intricate rapping technique, which involves rapping at a fast rate with lots of internal rhyme and half rhyme, and to date has received eleven Grammy nominations for his musical work. About.com included him on its list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987–2007), while Steve Huey of Allmusic called him one of the best and most prolific rappers of the '90s.
Busta was born in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Flatbush, Brooklyn, to Jamaican parents Geraldine Green and Trevor Smith, Sr. in 1972. Smith attended George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education High School, alongside Jay-Z, DMX and The Notorious B.I.G. He went to Uniondale High School on Long Island, graduating in 1990.
John Robert "Joe" Cocker, OBE (born 20 May 1944) is an English rock and blues singer, who came to popularity in the 1960s, and is most known for his gritty voice, his idiosyncratic arm movements while performing, and his cover versions of popular songs, particularly those of the Beatles.
He is the recipient of several awards, including a 1983 Grammy Award for his #1 hit "Up Where We Belong", a duet he performed with Jennifer Warnes. He was ranked #97 on Rolling Stone's 100 greatest singers list.
Cocker was born on 20 May 1944 at 38 Tasker Road, Crookes, Sheffield, West Riding of Yorkshire. He is the youngest son of a civil servant, Harold Cocker, and Madge Cocker. According to differing family stories, Cocker received his nickname of Joe either from playing a childhood game called "Cowboy Joe" or from a local window cleaner named Joe.
Cocker's main musical influences growing up were Ray Charles and Lonnie Donegan. Cocker's first experience singing in public was at age 12 when his elder brother Victor invited him on stage to sing during a gig of his skiffle group. In 1960, along with three friends, Cocker formed his first group, the Cavaliers. For the group's first performance at a youth club, they were required to pay the price of admission before entering. The Cavaliers eventually broke up after a year and Cocker left school to become an apprentice gasfitter while he pursued a career in music.
John (Johnny) Kirkland Reid (born August 21, 1974 in Lanark, Scotland, UK) is a country music artist who has charted several hit singles in Canada. Reid moved to Canada in July, 1988 when he was 13. His father, a diesel mechanic, wanted to give Reid and his brother opportunities he did not think they would have in Scotland. Reid went on to attend Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec, where he met his wife (and was a kicker on the varsity football team). He was nominated for the 2008 Juno Award for Country Recording of the Year for Kicking Stones. Reid was named Male Artist of the Year at both the 2008 and 2009 CCMA Awards. He also performed at the Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill on July 1, 2010, which the Queen and Prince Philip attended.
Reid's debut album, Another Day, Another Dime, was released in 1997 on JCD Records. No singles were ever released from the album. However, it was his second album, which was self-titled and released in 2000, where he saw minimal chart success. Three singles from this album were released and all three of which charted. The lead-off and debut single, "Given Up on Me", was a minor hit on the RPM Country Tracks chart. It reached a peak of #45. A second single, "Runnin' Wild" charted even lower at #50. The album's third and final single, "She Don't Wanna Hear", just missed the Top 40 of the country chart, peaking at #41.

She's sitting staring out a window
Trying to figure out just what to do
The last time that she gave her heart away
It came back broken in two
Like an old abandoned car
She parked it down off Lonely Avenue
And she forget about it till the day
She laid her eves on you
[Refrain]
And her heart said: "Fire it up"
And her soul said: "Fire it up"
And her mind said: "Fire it up"
Let love live again
He's sitting in a subway station
Watching as the trains go flying by
He used to hate the black man till a black man
Reached out and saved his life
Trouvé sur
He was pulled out of the darkness
Rescued and blinded by the light
Ain't it crazy how one simple act of kindness
Can open up our eyes
[Refrain]
Here we are together you and me
Still trying to figure out the world
Searching for a reason to believe
What makes this big ball turn?
But if we hold on to each other
Give love, show love for all love's worth
Yeah, they might call us crazy
But, tell me who's it gonna hurt?
Who's it gonna hurt?
Is there enough? Is there enough?
Is there enough? Is there
Is there enough? Is there enough?
Is there enough? Is there
Fire it up, fire it up
When we finally turn it over
Make a B-line towards the border
Have a drink, you've had enough
Fire it up, fire it up
If you need some conversation
Bring a magazine to read around
Our broke down transportation
Fire it up
Is there enough?
Is there enough?
Is there enough? Is there
Fire it up, fire it up
When we find the perfect water
We'll hang out on the shore
Just long enough to leave our clothes there
Fine enough, fine enough
Oh, we ate all of the oranges
Off the navels of our lovers
Grabbed a book and read the cover
It honestly was beautifully done
Like trying to hide the daylight from the sun
Even if we had been sure enough, it's true we really didn't know
Even if we knew which way to head, but still we probably wouldn't go
Fire it up, fire it up
We pushed off, we're rolling boulders
Crashing down the mirrored stairways
Two of life's best mind canaries
Fire it up, fire it up
When we fix the carburetor
Then we'll push off once again
In an hour or so later
It honestly was beautifully bold
Like trying to save an ice cube from the cold
Even if we had been sure enough, it's true we really didn't know
Even if we knew which way to head, but still we probably wouldn't go
Well, we always, well, we always
Had it all, had it all
Well, we always, well, we always
Had it all, had it all
Well, we always, well, we always
Had it all
Fire it up
Let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down
Keep bleeding on 'til the day you die
Forever love it loud
Yeah
Hellfire, doom
Watch the hatred spin
Beyond the speed of sound
Fire it up
Let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down
Keep moving on, Keep moving on, Keep moving on
Keep moving on, Keep moving on, Keep moving on
Face your fear
Accept your war
It is what it is
Face your fear
Accept your war
Fire it up, let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down
Keep bleeding on 'til the day you die
Forever love it loud, yeah
Hellfire, doom, watch the hatred spin
Beyond the speed of sound
Fire it up, let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down, yeah
Keep moving on, keep moving on
Keep moving on, keep moving on
Keep moving on, keep moving on
Face your fear, accept your war, it is what it is
Fire it up
Let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down
Keep bleeding on 'til the day you die
Forever love it loud,
Hellfire, doom
Watch the hatred spin
Beyond the speed of sound
Fire it up
Let the engines roll
It's time to burn it down
Keep moving on
Face your fear
Accept your war
It is what it is
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so fire it up
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so somebody fire it up
Come on and fire it up
I'm in love with the feeling of pressure to the ceiling
We come with intention to face my opposition
Get raw when it's time to lay it on the line
To the walls where we're taking it
Let Your light shine like
Let Your light shine like
Let Your light shine
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so fire it up
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so somebody fire it up
Come on and fire it up
Take it higher, take it higher
'Til the roof is on fire
Take it higher, take it higher
Let's burn it up
Take it higher, take it higher
'Til the roof is on fire
Take it higher, take it higher
Let's burn it up
We throw down when it's time for the action
Make it happen and the sound that you're feeling
Like lead might just happen when you're torn
You might not get a warning or a sign
To the walls where we're taking it
Let Your light shine like
Let Your light shine like
Let Your light shine
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so fire it up
I've got a bad case of turning it up
It's getting cold in here so somebody fire it up
Come on and fire it up
Come on and fire it up
Verse 1:
My day starts out light, but it is very heavy as the night approach
When I take flow from all dat smoke dat I smoke, no joke
As I commence to take flight its gotta be first class cuz this ass
Could give a fuck about coach....bitch
(How high do you fly when you fly back?)
From da bottom to top- top to bottom and back
Now as I lay me in da cup gettin fucked up
Puffin on blunts and comin up with some mo of dat funky stuff
Rough and tough is not enough to keep my focus
No its dat hocus pocus abracadabra smokeyas
Fills up da room as I breathe again
One smoke from da ghetto its dem braids and
When flossing in my benz with my friends it begins
Smell the aroma puttin you in a coma
Its dat super sanky dank that'll make ya faint go blank
Hey when I its da door all my niggas say,
Chorus: Adi adi adi adi ah... (its probably all dat chronic that I smoke)
Oh How we love it when ya fire it up
Adi adi adi adi ah...layin in da cut gettin real fucked up (say 2x)
Verse 2:
Its a new day new day truly ain't nathin changed
Fall up out my bed to the same ol' thangs
Your averaged, everyday black surrounded, bar-b-que, a little weed
Its some niggas with some bass pounding
One o'clock is da time to raise
take a shower brush my teeth and correct my braids
Now listen up to what I say because this typa shit, it happens everyday and
(I gotta place where I soak some so) In da summer its a coolin
In da winter its a smoke ho
20 feet away from da house in da back
Surrounded by a gate draked in all black its
(Its where me and my homies go smokin on that thang till it aint no mo)
How we smoke? (we smoke till I blast some mo)
Doin my thang kickin back relax and then
Chrous: say (2x)
[Chorus:]
(We want Rick to funk us up.)
(We want Rick to funk us up.)
Yeah, yeah
(Hey everyone, tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
(Hey everyone, tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What do you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
If funky music makes you groove
And you just can't wait to move
And getting off is what you've come here for
Then there's no need to hesitate
Cause you know I hate to wait
I'll funk you til' you roll on out the door.
[Chorus]
(So wave the funk sign in the air.)
And show me that you care
You've been sitting on your booty much too long
(We'll funk you, but don't go nowhere.)
If you say it's fun
Then fire up cause the show has just begun
(Hey everyone tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
Hey everyone tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up)
Blow
(Hey......)
Now don't just sit there in your chairs
Actin' like L-seven squares
Freak on out, that's what this song's about
(Funk is for the young and old)
I know you have been told
Don't ever get too hip to sing and shout now
I haven't come to bring you down
Or to turn your head around
Or to tell you what you should or should not do
(Funk was made to get you high.)
That's no alibi
Do what you want, it's all left up to you
Yeah
(Hey everyone tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
(Hey everyone tonight we're gonna have fun.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
(People get up and dance to the music.)
(People get up.)
(People get up.)
(People get up.)
(People get up and dance to the music.)
(People get up.)
(People get up.)
(People get up.)
(Hey......)
Yeah
(Hey......)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
What you want us to do with the funk?
(Fire it up.)
Say fire it up
(Fire it up.)

* If such a thing exists as being such a king as this
Sluts pucker up, to kiss the ring and fist
The rhyming vet, the livest yet
drop fly shit like a G-4 private jet
Bet you get more than grazed by the nine
Layed by the side
Oh you out of bullets? Here, take some of mine
And clowns hate how I lock this down
If they think I'm obnoxious now, wait til I pop Cristal
Got one need, to just smoke out
but if your weed's got one seed, the shit don't count
Dog, you don't want us running home.
You don't want it Holmes. If you a 'G'
You as silent as the one in front of Gnome
And you can love me, or you can judge me
But dissin me's like, Beetlejuice in a cape, Super Ugly
Trust me, I'ma shit on my foes
And sit on my throne
So hop off my dick and get on your own
(hook x's 2)
O-H-I-O, no place like home
Everywhere I go, I relocate my throne
Roll it up. Light it up. Fire it up
Bring a bitch to the telly and get high as fuck
Schatz got me upchuckin in a cut buzzin
Might spit about the same shit, but then again
Who the fuck doesn't?!?!
When writers fed, bite his lead, or we can fight instead
And fuck a can, we open whoop ass by the keg
Tell your boys to get your lame crest on
Wanna rip together? Y'all can share the same headstone
And it's rarely ever that I bury pairs together
But I'm ruthless.
I did it with ease like Jerry Heller
So if you mention me,
you fairies better levitate or jump a fence from me
Seven eight's a heavyweight, like pregnancy
And you can die in a coupe with dark tint
COPY! Shoot the sky til the moon is dark red
STOP ME! You could try, but I move at mach 10
WATCH ME! Superfly from the booth like Clark Kent
COPY! Doctor Strange when I'm on the ???
The vets I roll with will put your dogs to sleep
Puff five blunts straight to the brain
Jakki's got one five one through a pump straight to the vein
Sights a bit wrecked.
I ain't even light the spliff yet
and already my eyes are bloodshot like a crips set
(hook x's 2)
Y'all cats ain't never gonna advance, I'm big headed
Got an even bigger ego for the one in my pants
Lames hurtin.
I aim perfect for opponent's heads
Still in charge like a cordless phone is dead
Only writin four bar verses now. REASON??
Can't get past the fifth line without the crowd screamin
Y'all don't rhyme, y'all bitch. Dick in mouth even
Only time y'all spit's when you spittin out semen
Hope you're ready bastards,
my prose already classic
And like laffy taffy I got a joke on every rapper
You hold your own? NO YOU DON'T
I'll let you shit first, when I start shittin the toilet overflows
And I ain't quittin six four, dyin hittin chicks raw
In the Hyatt on the fifth floor with her hymen splittin
So bet the money you got MY ALBUM'S LIKE HELL!
You don't know when it's comin but you know it's gonna be hot
They arranged his hands across his chest
Prepared to lay him to his rest
He said, ”Could it be my race is run
When I thought it had just begun?
But no no no, I think it’s plain to see
There’s been a dip in the mercury
I hear a whisper – the voice of doom
I fear the Reaper is in the room”
Knocked down, slapped back
Come on, cut me some slack
(Foundations are starting to crack)
Hey – Hey, you know what?
I think it’s time to fire it up
From over yonder she hears a call
Something beckons beyond the walls
She stays the course on quiet streams
But when she dreams her shy girl dreams
She’s alone on the high seas
Out on the deck begging, “Lord, please
I have no compass – I have no chart
What do I do with my wild wild heart?”
We march in step – We walk the line
Travelling through this life unkind
Wrapped in chains, duty bound
Till they put us in the cold, cold ground
They arranged his hands across his chest
Prepared to lay him to his rest
He said, “I see the time has come
(Lawrence Gowan)
A scorpion skims across the desert
Warm winds are stirring up your soul
It's giving your eyes that tempting flicker
Just the kind that makes me lose control
Fire it up, Fire it up, girl
Fire it up, Fire it up, now
Make it pay
See the zombies drifting in the city
I don't get much action from that crew
But the scorpion skims across the desert
Ain't it plain to see she ain't no fool
Fire it up, Fire it up, girl
Fire it up, Fire it up, now
Make it burn hard
There ain't no tomorrow (no tomorrow)
Burn hard
No time to borrow (time to borrow)
You gotta make it pay
Lawdy-Mama live it all today
Fire it up, Fire it up, girl
Fire it up, Fire it up, now
Fire it up - Make it pay
Before the time has passed you by
You got to let me touch your magic flame
Eventually you know you're gonna die
Come on, Come on, you got to burn it till the end (burn it till the end)
Fire it up, Fire it up, girl
Fire it up, Fire it up, now
C'mon fire it up, fire it up, girl
Fire it up, Fire it up, now
C'mon fire it up, fire it up, now
Fire it up, child
C'mon fire it up, fire it up, girl
Yeah you're blazing like the rays of the sun
Once again you're wasted and the days just begun
And you don't quite know why or care
You only want your share of that stone cold misery
When you're looking for a refill you come and see me
(Chorus)
Fire it up
I want to see it all ablaze
When you fire it up
You can count on me to guarantee
That mutha gonna burn for days
Yeah this devils got your heaven for cheap
Don't pretend you have a soul for the good lord to keep
And you don't quite know why or care
You only want your share of that stone cold misery
When you're looking for a refill you come and see me
Well, the wind whispers rumors This is poisoned love And on a closer inspection
Such a little liar I'm your infection Panties on fire
Why can't you turn me Down
It's a sin what you're doin' Wastin' your time on me I've got antifreeze in my blood
Such a little liar Don't treat you no good Panties on fire
If you're so damn cool, then Why can't you turn me down
Slip 'em off your back Like They're a ball and chain Turn this back alley into lover's lane
Cause no one Fire it up
Like your monkey and you If this is burnin' your soul Then just let it burn
Such a little liar Panties on fire Why can't you turn me down
Slip 'em off your back Like they're a ball and chain Turn this back alley into lover's lane
Cause no one Fire it up
Like your monkey and you If this is burnin' your soul Just let it...
Burn
Up when you get my number down Fire it up Light up when you get my number down Fire it up
I may be your dirty dog But you'll be my bitch until The stars fall out of your eyes
She burns
Fire it up
