Kings Park is the name of several parks and locations:
The Kings Park Psychiatric Center, known by Kings Park locals simply as "The Psych Center," was a former state-run psychiatric hospital located in Kings Park, New York. It operated from 1885 until 1996, when the State of New York closed the facility, releasing its few remaining patients or transferring them to the still-operational Pilgrim Psychiatric Center.
The Kings Parks Psychiatric Center was established in 1885 by Kings County in nearby Suffolk County, adjoining the Society of St. Johnland established by William Augustus Muhlenberg, prior to the consolidation of Kings County with Queens, Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx, to form modern New York City. The official name of the hospital in its first 10 years was the Kings County Asylum, taken from the name of the county that Brooklyn occupied. The hospital was revolutionary at the time in the sense that it was a departure from the asylums of folklore, which were overcrowded places where gross human rights abuses often occurred. The asylum, built by Brooklyn to alleviate overcrowding in its own asylums, was a "farm colony" asylum, where patients worked in a variety of farm-related activities, such as feeding livestock and growing food, as this was considered to be a form of therapy.
A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. It may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. In North America, many parks have fields for playing sports such as soccer, baseball and football, and paved areas for games such as basketball. Many parks have trails for walking, biking and other activities. Some parks are built adjacent to bodies of water or watercourses, and these parks may comprise a beach or boat dock area. Often, the smallest parks are in urban areas, where a park may take up only a city block or less. Urban parks often have benches for sitting and they may contain picnic tables and barbecue grills. Parks have differing rules regarding whether dogs can be brought into the park: some parks prohibit dogs; some parks allow them with restrictions (e.g., use of a leash); and some parks, which may be called "dog parks," permit dogs to run off-leash.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

In this episode we explore the infamous Kings Park Psychiatric Center. As one of the most well known asylums in the New York area, there was lots of graffiti and vandalism, but we still managed to find some cool things left inside. We were also shocked by the sheer number of other people inside the building with us who were also exploring. http://theproperpeople.com Reddit discussion: https://www.reddit.com/r/theproperpeople/comments/574n8i/abandoned_kings_park_psychiatric_center/ JOIN US ON: http://facebook.com/theproperpeople http://twitter.com/theproperpeople http://instagram.com/theproperpeople https://www.reddit.com/r/theproperpeople Enjoying our videos? My Haunted Diary episode with paranormal explorer James Edward Garcia in Kings Park, Long Island, New York at the Creepy Abandoned Asylum sometimes called KPPC. Capturing paranormal activity while investigating alone. This is a 40+ minute long sneak preview into the explorations that took place in 2014. Kings Park Psychiatric Center, once called a Lunatic Asylum closed its doors in 1996. But there are still a couple of large community homes housing patients that are managed by Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center on the premises. It has been said that this Asylum is haunted. It sure is creepy. In this 40 minute excerpt voices are captured, doors opened and slammed shut, & other poltergeist activity. None of which was done by the living. There is also the element of animals, bats, spiders, ...

Just another one of the awesome structures. a 13-story neoclassic building constructed in 1939 and used for patient housing. Beginning in the 1970s, the upper floors began to close until less than a third of the building was in use by 1996.
