Last Monday's ruling in favor of the
California High Speed Rail project by
Judge Michael Kenny hasn't deterred Pam Wolter from circulating a petition to de-fund construction on the project.
Kenny's verdict stated that there was no reason to believe the project wouldn't comply with proposition 1A as it continued to be planned. Wolter came to last Wednesday night's meeting of the
Agua Dulce Town Council to let everyone know the status of the petition so far.
Wolter said the goal of the petition-spearheaded by a company called The
Hanford Group-is still to collect 585,
000 signatures statewide. Wolter's personal goal of 1,000 signatures from the residents of
Acton and Agua Dulce is already halfway met, she told the
Council on Wednesday. She said "We're looking for, across the state, 585,000 signatures to get it back on the ballot…We're not done fighting."
