Russia (i/ˈrʌʃə/; Russian: Росси́я, tr. Rossiya; IPA: [rɐˈsʲijə]), also officially known as the Russian Federation (Russian: Росси́йская Федера́ция, tr. Rossiyskaya Federatsiya; IPA: [rɐˈsʲijskəjə fʲɪdʲɪˈratsɨjə]), is a sovereign state in northern Eurasia. It is a federal semi-presidential republic. At 17,125,200 square kilometres (6,612,100 sq mi), Russia is the largest country in the world, covering more than one-eighth of the Earth's inhabited land area. Russia is the world's ninth most populous country with over 144 million people at the end of 2015.
Extending across the entirety of northern Asia and much of Eastern Europe, Russia spans eleven time zones and incorporates a wide range of environments and landforms. From northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (both with Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. It shares maritime borders with Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait.
Russian refers to anything related to Russia, including:
Russian may also refer to:
A national anthem (also state anthem, national hymn, national song etc.) is a generally patriotic musical composition that evokes and eulogizes the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognized either by a nation's government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people. The majority of national anthems are either marches or hymns in style. The countries of Latin America tend towards more operatic pieces, while a handful of countries use a simple fanfare.
Although national anthems are usually in the most common language of the country, whether de facto' or official, there are notable exceptions-
States with more than one national language may offer several versions of their anthem: for instance, Switzerland's anthem has different lyrics for each of the country's four official languages (French, German, Italian and Romansh). Canada's national anthem has different lyrics in each of the country's official languages (English and French), and on some occasions is sung with a mixture of stanzas taken from its French and English versions. The Irish national anthem was written in English; an Irish translation, although never formally adopted, is now almost always sung.
A federation (from Latin: foedus, gen.: foederis, "covenant"), also known as a federal state, is a political entity characterized by a union of partially self-governing states or regions under a central (federal) government. In a federation, the self-governing status of the component states, as well as the division of power between them and the central government, are typically constitutionally entrenched and may not be altered by a unilateral decision of either party, the states or the federal political body.
The governmental or constitutional structure found in a federation is known as federalism. It can be considered the opposite of another system, the unitary state. Germany, with sixteen Bundesländer, is an example of a federation, whereas neighboring Austria and its Bundesländer was a unitary state with administrative divisions that became federated, and neighboring France by contrast has always been unitary.
Federations may be multi-ethnic and cover a large area of territory (e.g. Russia, the United States, or India), although neither is necessarily the case. The initial agreements create a stability that encourages other common interests, reduces differences between the disparate territories, and gives them all even more common ground. At some time this is recognized and a movement is organized to merge more closely. At other times, especially when common cultural factors are at play such as ethnicity and language, some of the steps in this pattern are expedited and compressed.
The Russian is a fictional supervillain, and enemy of the Marvel Comics antihero the Punisher. He was created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and first appeared in The Punisher Vol. 5, #8 (November 2000).
The Russian debuted off-panel in The Punisher Vol. 5, #8, was fully introduced in the following issue, and appeared in every subsequent one up until his death in Issue #11. In the following series, the character was resurrected as a cyborg, and was featured in The Punisher Vol. 6, #1-5.
The Russian received profiles in Marvel Encyclopedia #5, All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #9, and Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A-Z #9
The earliest known sightings of the Russian occurred while he was vacationing in Afghanistan in the 1980s. He subsequently travelled the world, inserting himself into various conflicts for fun and profit; locations he is said to have fought in include Lebanon, Iraq, Rwanda, East Timor, Chechnya, the Balkans, and Belfast (where he consumed a man on a bet). The Russian's activities led to him being wanted (dead or alive) by numerous law enforcement agencies, as well as criminal organizations such as the Yakuza.

Russia is the largest country in the world. To help run its vast lands it requires a complicated set of Federal Subjects that include Oblasts, Krais, Republics, Federal Cities, Autonomous Okrugs, and an Autonomous Oblast. These Federal Subjects of Russia are not all the same, and since Russia is an asymmetric federation, some of the subjects have more powers than others. The federal subjects of Russia explained: Oblasts, Krais, and Federal Cities are average Federal subjects, having the right to their own legislatures, while Republics, Autonomous Okrugs, and the Autonomous Oblast are meant to provide additional rights to Russia’s minorities. Republics get their own constitutions and official language status, while the Autonomous Okrugs and Oblast get some language rights. Additional...

It is home to more than 180 nationalities. For centuries, all the world's main religions have coexisted peacefully in Russia. The State Anthem of the Russian Federation/Государственный гимн Российской Федерации is the name of the official national anthem of Russia. Its musical composition and lyrics were adopted from the State Anthem of the Soviet Union, composed by Alexander Alexandrov, and lyricists Sergey Mikhalkov and Gabriel El-Registan.[3] The Soviet anthem was used from 1944, replacing "The Internationale" with a more Sovietcentric and Russiacentric song. The anthem had no lyrics after 1956, due to the original lyrics having references to former leader Joseph Stalin. New lyrics were introduced in 1977 by Mikhalkov with lyrics placing less emphasis on World War II and more on the victory of communism. The National Anthem of the Russian Federation (Russian: Государственный гимн Российской Федерации, "Gosudarstvenny Gimn Rossiyskoy Federatsii") is the national anthem of Russia. The song is an adaptation of the anthem of the Soviet Union that was used from 1944 until 1990, with music originally composed by Alexander Alexandrov. The lyrics were revised for the anthem of the Russian Federation by Sergey Mikhalkov, who also wrote lyrics for versions of the Soviet anthem in 1943 and 1977. In 1990, Russia needed a new anthem to distance itself from the Soviet past. Although "God Save The Tsar!" was used before the overthrow of the Tsar in 1917, President of the Russian SFSR, Boris Yeltsin, decided to select the song "Patrioticheskaya pesnya" by Mikhail Glinka. Composed without words and disc...

In this episode of our new series “Russia: Tips, Tricks & Travel” we’ll show you how to break the enigma that is getting a tourist visa. Russian bureaucracy is legendary, and for good reason - it can be an absolute nightmare. However, if you know what to do, getting a tourist visa to visit Russia is easy. The problem is finding out what to do. In this episode our host Tim Kirby (who has experienced his fair share of Russian red tape) has scoured the Internet and made all the right calls to the right people to show you how to get through this relatively simple but vague process. 2. 14. The Constitution of the Russian Federation: Mechanisms of Direct Action, 16 May 2013
A great documentary series about the most beautiful Russian Military female soldier battalion. The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Russian: Вооружённые Си́лы Росси́йской Федера́ции, tr. Vooruzhonnije Síly Rossíyskoj Federátsii) are the military service of Russia, established after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. On 7 May 1992, Boris Yeltsin signed a presidential decree establishing the Russian Ministry of Defence and placing all Soviet Armed Forces troops on the territory of the Russian SFSR under Russian control.[5] The commander-in-chief of the armed forces is the president of Russia. Although the Russian armed forces were formed in 1992, the Russian military dates its roots back to the times of the Kievan Rus'. The armed forces are divided into: the three "branches of Arm...

(WARNING: I recorded the first part, but Fraps began lagging. So I recorded a second part after, but OBS never captured it through the 30 mins I recorded.) As I get Russia prepared to become great again, I must confront the problems of the nation. Illegal immigration has skyrocketed, thousands pour across the border into Russia, and I decide whether I should begin mass deportations or if I should integrate the aliens into society. During this, Ukraine moves troops to our borders. Tensions between Tbilisi and Moscow are running high, and the economy seems to be doing better. What a day in Russia!
Russia is passing laws to reduce poverty, help those in need get a job, and make sure that everything goes according to plan with the agenda. Legislative elections happen, yet as these end, Georgia sends the Russian Government an ultimatum to remove troops within three weeks...
All the rough ports are WIP, but even then the mod looks great! For being version 0.3, this is really playable already. This isn't a review or anything. Anything I missed? Throw a comment below. Probably something I did wrong. :P A showcase of RHS: Escalation's Russian Federation faction. Mainly a look at one skin of most vehicles, the VDV units. Thousands of people in Russia work under slave-like conditions. Many have been trafficked, all are exploited. Two men are fighting to stop this slave-labor. According to estimates, up to a million people in the Russian Federation work under slave-like conditions. On the basis of absolute numbers, this places Russia in seventh place on the most recent Global Slavery Index to be published by the human rights organization Walk Free Foundation. Many of the ‘slaves’ were violently abducted. Politicians and society as a whole are silent on the problem. Around the world about forty million are victims of slavery. In addition 152 million girls and boys are forced into child labor, according to current UN reports. One of the estimated million people in the Russian Federation working in slave-like ...
In October 1993, Russia was on the brink of civil war. Deputies from the Supreme Soviet of Russia -- the main legislative body in the country - were on one side and President Boris Yeltsin and his supporters on the other. In decree 1400, the president proclaimed that the Supreme Soviet of the Russian Federation and its deputies were to discontinue their legislative, administrative and executive functions. The deputies responded with a decree removing Yeltsin from the Presidency. This resulted in two days of street fighting, hundreds dead and injured. This review is of a Russian Federation IRP or Individual'nyi Ratsion Pitaniya (IRP), Индивидуальный рацион питания (ИРП). It was assembled on June 2, 2014 and expiry date of April 2, 2016. I actually ate this last month but did the vodka drinking today, which I admit I needed to take a break between shots 3 and 4 HAHA! This ration, while the contents remain virtually the same is an older model as some IRP manufacturers are switching to a solid green box. This is a 24 hour ration of approximately 3,100 calories. I hope to get one of the Mountain Versions in the future but this ration is also designed for cold climates. I really enjoy these and always look forward to tasting more. In which Ms. Galloway answers your questions about non-democratic systems and the Russian government and political system.

For most ordinary Crimeans this is a dream come true and a chance for a better life under Mother Russia. But a minority fears the worst, and a possible return to Soviet-era persecution. On this week's In Focus we travel to Crimea to ask was the independence referendum free and fair? Did it reflect the true desires of the people? And were the western media stories of occupation, fear and intimidation accurate?
