Trailer from the forthcoming film by Steven Wilson and Lasse Hoile. The documentary film Insurgentes is a musical road movie that follows the making of Steven Wilson's solo record of the same name, and is a portrait of an increasingly rare artist who works with music and media out of love and not for fame and fortune, persisting in making art on his own terms in a world where 'throw away' mentality is increasingly becoming the norm. Insurgentes is also about music and the album as art form, and applying the same aesthetic vision through the writing, performance, production, artwork, lyrics, videos and beyond. The film looks into the issues of creating, packaging and marketing music in an era when iPods, Mp3's and download culture are changing and eroding perceptions of exactly what an alb...

www.facebook.com/StRAnGeBeautifulLIFE.TV In a world where everything is moving faster, where everything needs to be more efficient will we suddenly overtake our futures even though we spend half our lives thinking about the past. Whenever I go on these trips to far out places the first thing that really hits home is that the people of these lands still hold onto something that we seem to have lost. The ability to live life now, in the moment, day to day, minute by minute, there is no rush, no dramas, just their undivided attention when they greet you with a smile and a welcoming hand shake. It puts a lot of things into perspective and makes me think about how best a life is lived. Don't get me wrong this isn't a negative moan, far from it! Just a thought process i've been wondering down l...
international wedding: kayumanis nusa dua spa and resort bali, indonesia photo: bunn salarzon hotel california was playing inside my head as i walk from bonny’s villa to derrick’s early on during their wedding day. no, no, it wasn’t the music i’m using for their video and not that there’s something wrong about it except for the fact that the band who played this song actually offered their souls to the devil in exchange for fame. it’s my body’s natural defensive response to control panic and excitement from getting a little bit too much. two days before the wedding, just minutes after gen and i met the couple for the first time, i remember derrick saying we’re part of the family right then. moments later, bonny was singing her version of i finally found someone. it was that kind of chemist...

Just a decade ago, half of all Mexicans — 52 million people — had no health insurance. As many as 4 million families a year faced financial ruin because of catastrophic illness, like breast cancer. Today, those same families have access to treatment because of Seguro Popular. The universal health care initiative, launched in 2003 and largely powered by Harvard research, is funded with less than 1 percent of the country’s GDP. It has gradually expanded to cover a range of catastrophic illnesses. Breast cancer, with its fast-rising rates and ever-younger victims, was added in 2007. We, Rick and Pouna, recently rescued a 3 year old Shar Pei female on the US-Mexico border near San Diego. We took her to the only no-kill animal shelter in northern Mexico, Baja Animal Sanctuary (BAS). The Shar Pei, we call Sueño, because she was so sleepy, had a bad case of mange, was starving, and dehydrated. BAS accepted her, no questions asked, and is taking care of her, feeding her, bathing her, and giving her medical attention until Sueño can be adopted out. BAS has 300+ dogs at the facility. The ones that cannot be adopted out, live their lives there at BAS. We wanted to repay BAS by delivering 1000 lbs of dog food to their sanctuary near Rosarito, Mexico. We made the first half of our shipment on Saturday, July 21, 2012. This video is an attempt to capture our trip down and our re...

To preserve a forest, or to plant a new one is something that would take millions of dollars and new laws and support from all kinds of international organizations, right? And yet when we got to Chiapas in southern Mexico, we met a woman who does all of that on her own, without her government, without any official organization and without anything remotely resembling millions of dollars - just a woman w...

Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News VICE founder Suroosh Alvi travels to Mexico to see the effects of cartel oil theft firsthand. Mexico’s notoriously violent drug cartels are diversifying. Besides trafficking narcotics, extorting businesses, and brutally murdering their rivals, cartels are now at work exploiting their country’s precious number one export: oil. Every day as many as 10,000 barrels of crude oil are stolen from Mexico’s state-run oil company, Pemex, through precarious illegal taps, which are prone to deadly accidents. Pemex estimates that it loses $5 billion annually in stolen oil, some of which ends up being sold over the border in US gas stations. As police fight the thieves, and the cartels fight each other, the number of victims caught in...

MEXICALI, MEXICO — A Honduran national admitted Wednesday in the federal court in San Diego that he tried to smuggle about 25 kilos cocaine across the Mexico-U.S. border using an underwater tunnel, EFE reported. Border Patrol agents discovered a soaked Evelio Padilla-Zepeda, 28, in a wetsuit next to the All-American Canal, about 7 miles east of Calexico, California, on April 25. Near him, they found a breathing tank with a rebreather, to prevent surface bubbles, and 25 vacuum-sealed and giftwrapped packages, containing a total of 25 kilos of cocaine. That led Border Patrol agents to the discovery of a 45 meter-long underwater tunnel that began in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and ended under the water of the All-American Canal. The drugs were put on a trolley system on the dry Mexi...

A Mexican drug cartel recently used its painting skills to smuggle millions of dollars of marijuana into the United States, a brushstroke of genius of sorts until the effort was uncovered by a federal border agent. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents stopped a suspicious tractor trailer late Thursday on Interstate 19, south of Tucson, Ariz. Inside, the driver said, was a shipment of watermelons. But when agents inspected the shipment using X-ray imaging, they discovered the purported fruit was actually packages of marijuana painted to look like watermelons. "These criminals use a lot of unique ways to try to conceal their narcotics," Tucson CBP Agent Bryan Flowers said. "We've seen individuals use false compartments in the seats and gas tanks. We've also found marijuana in t...

Mexico
I cry at night cause I can feel your pain
deep down inside taken over me
Ive got to go this place is not for me
just let it go and get over me
kick around lost and then found
called a fool the talk of the town
I just pray just let her find you
so you know want I had to do
Moving down to Mexico
were aint nobody gonna find me
sippin margaritas sinaritas passing by me
asking me to stay a while but Im gonna
half to tell you no. The spirits taken over
now its time to be alone
Deep down inside
Deep down inside
Deep down inside
Moving down to Mexico
were aint no one gonna find me
sippin margaritas sinaritas passing by me
asking me to stay a while but im gonna have
to tell you no. The spirits taken over
now its time to be alone.
My faith is gone
dont talk just pray for me
when your by yourself
you just think of me
nothing will replace the things
that I been through
so till next time friend
this is were ill be when you think
of me.
