Eminent domain

Eminent domain (United States, the Philippines), compulsory purchase (United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ireland), resumption (Hong Kong), resumption/compulsory acquisition (Australia), or expropriation (South Africa, Canada, Brazil) is the power of a state or a national government to take private property for public use. However, it can be legislatively delegated by the state to municipalities, government subdivisions, or even to private persons or corporations, when they are authorized to exercise the functions of public character.

The property may be taken either for government use or by delegation to third parties, who will devote it to public or civic use or, in some cases, to economic development. The most common uses of property taken by eminent domain are for government buildings and other facilities, public utilities, highways, and railroads. However, it may also be taken for reasons of public safety, as in the case of Centralia, Pennsylvania. Some jurisdictions require that the condemnor make an offer to purchase the subject property, before resorting to the use of eminent domain.

I-GO

I-GO was a Chicago-based car sharing organization owned by Enterprise Holdings. I-GO was established in 2002 by the Center for Neighborhood Technology as an independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating and implementing new strategies that make urban communities more livable and environmentally sustainable. I-GO was sold to Enterprise Holdings in May 2013 and re-branded as Enterprise CarShare.

Mission

I-GO’s mission was to reduce car ownership rates, decrease transportation costs, reduce urban congestion and improve air quality in Chicago. From its inception, I-GO worked to catalyze a set of transportation innovations that make it feasible and desirable for Chicago residents to get around conveniently and economically without having to own a car and, at the same time, reduce vehicle miles traveled and greenhouse gas emissions. By contributing to the environmental improvement of the Chicago area and the decrease in expenses for residents, I-GO's triple bottom line impact provided a significant social return on investment.

Taking Flight

Taking Flight is the fourth studio album by Filipino singer Sarah Geronimo, released on July 25, 2007 under VIVA Records. The album showcases songs by Filipino composers Louie Ocampo, Trina Belamide, Chuckie Dreyfus, Rebel Magdagasang and Medwin Marfil. To date, all its editions have sold more than 60,000 copies in the Philippines, certifying 2× Platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry.

Singles

The carrier single of the album, I'll Be Alright, was written by Louie Ocampo who, was also the musical director of her sold-out concert In Motion at the Araneta Coliseum. It went gold in four months and sold more than 15,000 units, after she released her second single, Ikaw. It was written by True Faith's frontman, Medwin Marfil, and later topped the charts for months. On February 2008, the album was already certified platinum, with sales of 30,000 units. The album was re-released with the cover single, Very Special Love, as a bonus track from her top-grossing film, A Very Special Love with John Lloyd Cruz. The third single released from the album is Kahit Na. The song was composed by singer- songwriter Chuckie Dreyfus. The last single from the album is I'll Be Here written by Rebel Magdasang.

One Ok Rock

One Ok Rock (stylized as ONE OK ROCK) is a Japanese rock band formed in 2005, composed of Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya.

History

2005-2006: Formation and Early Days

The foundation for One Ok Rock began when Toru Yamashita, then a high school student, wanted to start a band. He told his friend Ryota Kohama, a fellow member of the hip hop dance group Heads, to learn the bass and asked Alex Onizawa, who was their senior in school to join. He asked his classmate Tomo to play drums, who then left the band in 2006 to pursue an acting career. At that time, Taka Moriuchi was playing with another band named Chivalry of Music; however, Taka didn't enjoy playing with them, so Toru insisted that he join One Ok Rock instead. After signing with a label, Amuse, Inc. Tomo left the band because his parents didn't want their son to pursue that line of work. Tomoya Kanki had been teaching at ESP (Musical Academy) and was already in a band that wasn't going well. He then joined One Ok Rock in 2006, but only became an official member when they debuted in 2007.
