Macclesfield is a market town in Cheshire, England. The population of Macclesfield at the 2011 census was 52,044. A person from Macclesfield is sometimes referred to as a "Maxonian". Macclesfield, like many other areas in Cheshire, is a relatively affluent town.
Situated in the ancient Hundred of Hamestan, the Domesday Book records the town as "Maclesfeld" and in 1183 it was referred to as "Makeslesfeld". The English Place-Name Society gives its name as being derived from the Old English name, Maccel and field meaning `Maccels' open country'.
Although "Silk Town" seems to be its preferred nickname, the traditional nickname of Macclesfield is "Treacle Town". This is reference to an historical incident when a horse-drawn wagon overturned and split its load of treacle onto the street, whereby the poor scooped this off the road.
Macclesfield was granted a borough charter by Earl Ranulf III of Chester, in the early 13th century, and a second charter was granted by the future King Edward I, in 1261. The parish church of All Saints was built in 1278, an extension of a chapel built in approximately 1220.
Macclesfield Town Football Club is an English association football club in Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. The club played in the Football League from 1997 until relegation to the Conference Premier in 2012. The club was formed in 1874 and play home games at the 6,355 capacity Moss Rose stadium.
The 2011–12 season was Macclesfield Town's 15th consecutive season in the Football League and their 13th consecutive season in the fourth tier of English football which, until their relegation, made them the then longest-standing members of League Two.
A football club was first formed in Macclesfield in the mid-19th century, but played rugby union rules. In 1874, the club adopted the rules of the Football Association. Between 1874 and 1940 the club was known by a succession of names, including Macclesfield Football and Athletic Club, Hallifield F.C. and Macclesfield F.C. When competitive football resumed after World War II, Macclesfield Town Football Club Ltd. was formed and the club gained their current name. The club joined the Cheshire County League in 1946–47, playing their first game after reformation on 31 August, 1946, a 2–0 defeat to Buxton. The club's form in the remainder of the 1940s was largely indifferent, with the exception of a Cheshire League Challenge Cup win in 1948. The 1950s proved more successful, with four trophies in as many years from 1951–1954, including the club's first Cheshire League title in 20 years in 1953, though the team's fortunes faded in the latter half of the decade.
Tranmere Rovers Football Club is an English professional association football club founded in 1884, and based in Birkenhead, Wirral. Originally known as Belmont Football Club, they adopted their current name in 1885. They were a founder member of Division Three North in 1921, and were a member of The Football League until 2015, when they were relegated to the National League, the fifth tier of English football.
During the 1980s, they were beset by financial problems and, in 1987, went into administration. However, this was a prelude to the most successful period in Tranmere's history; under manager John King, the team reached the play-offs for promotion to the Premier League in three successive seasons. Under King's successor, John Aldridge, Tranmere experienced a number of cup runs, most notably reaching the 2000 Football League Cup Final. Other cup runs include reaching FA Cup quarter-finals in 2000, 2001 and 2004.
Tranmere's regular kit is an all-white strip with blue trim, their main colours since 1962. The club moved to its current home, Prenton Park, in 1912. In 1995, the ground had a major redevelopment in response to the Taylor Report. It now seats 16,567 in four stands: the Main Stand, the Kop, the Johnny King Stand and the Cowshed.
Ignore the lame banners, its a video from somebody else i eddited down to cut out the shit parts.
This video is from June 13th 1993 in Macclesfield Cheshire. It's at the Lord Byron pub run by Ken & Pat and it features many of the regulars including Dave Baldwin who was having his beard shaved off to raise money for MS. Mick Duggan who had the illness can be also be seen in my film. Mick always had a smile on his face and was a great guy. He sadly passed away but for those who knew him he will not be forgotten. A great time was had by all and the reason I decided to put this out after finding it in my loft is to share it with others. Hopefully people who know the pub or were indeed there can enjoy stepping back in time. Hope you see someone who you know. Picture quality isn't the best but it was the days of VHS. Pete B 2016.

Unedited Witness Statement: I was waiting in my kitchen for my friend to arrive for a lift. I noticed a black object floating up in the air. Being into UFOs i quickly grabbed my phone and recorded it. At the time i considered it could be a balloon and i was also quite late already, which is why i didnt film for any longet. It was only when i got home and zoomed in on the video that i realised what a strange shape it was. I have watched hundreds of thousands of ufo videos and i honestly feel this may be one of the clearest, hardest to dismiss cases ever. It also seemed that the object was changing shape and structure rapidly, between frames. I do not believe this shape matches anything else ever seen or recorded. I also have screenshots that seem to show this object detach part of itself du...

This was a visit my brother and I took to visit the tomb of Joy Division's lead singer Ian Curtis. He tragically took his life on May 18th, 1980. He was 23 years old. Knowing the influence he had on musicans who came after him as well as the bonds of friendship and family I gained through his music, we decided to lay roses in honor of our friends and relatives who admire and love his music as much as we do. I want to give a special thanks to Craig Gill, drummer of Inspiral Carpets, who was our guide and who led us on a historical and memorable tour of the Manchester music scene. He was very understanding and patient with us in our request to purchase roses as well as gladly filming this moment. If you are a music lover and travel to Manchester, look up Craig Gill and Manchester Music...
