A street is a public thoroughfare (usually paved) in a built environment. It is a public parcel of land adjoining buildings in an urban context, on which people may freely assemble, interact, and move about. A street can be as simple as a level patch of dirt, but is more often paved with a hard, durable surface such as concrete, cobblestone or brick. Portions may also be smoothed with asphalt, embedded with rails, or otherwise prepared to accommodate non-pedestrian traffic.
Originally the word "street" simply meant a paved road (Latin: "via strata"). The word "street" is still sometimes used colloquially as a synonym for "road", for example in connection with the ancient Watling Street, but city residents and urban planners draw a crucial modern distinction: a road's main function is transportation, while streets facilitate public interaction. Examples of streets include pedestrian streets, alleys, and city-centre streets too crowded for road vehicles to pass. Conversely, highways and motorways are types of roads, but few would refer to them as streets.
A train is a form of rail transport consisting of a series of vehicles that usually runs along a rail track to transport cargo or passengers. Motive power is provided by a separate locomotive or individual motors in self-propelled multiple units. Although historically steam propulsion dominated, the most common modern forms are diesel and electric locomotives, the latter supplied by overhead wires or additional rails. Other energy sources include horses, engine or water-driven rope or wire winch, gravity, pneumatics, batteries, and gas turbines. Train tracks usually consist of two running rails, sometimes supplemented by additional rails such as electric conducting rails and rack rails, with a limited number of monorails and maglev guideways in the mix. The word 'train' comes from the Old French trahiner, from the Latin trahere 'pull, draw'.
There are various types of trains that are designed for particular purposes. A train may consist of a combination of one or more locomotives and attached railroad cars, or a self-propelled multiple unit (or occasionally a single or articulated powered coach, called a railcar). The first trains were rope-hauled, gravity powered or pulled by horses. From the early 19th century almost all were powered by steam locomotives. From the 1910s onwards the steam locomotives began to be replaced by less labor-intensive and cleaner (but more complex and expensive) diesel locomotives and electric locomotives, while at about the same time self-propelled multiple unit vehicles of either power system became much more common in passenger service.

Trains in the street are always fun to watch. This CSX streetrunner video was made in LaGrange Kentucky on the LCL sub. Filmed Tuesday, January 17, 2017. I was there from 11:30am to 6pm and saw 4 trains. The last train with the Spirit of Maryland engine took the siding and was unable to load so the dispatcher took down the signal for them and called maintenance. This town is a no train horn town. A train travels through the middle of a narrow street in Vietnam everyday making residents retreat into their homes. The train passes twice a day and there have been some close calls and unfortunate accidents in the past. Some residents move their scooters from outside when the train comes through as there are only inches between the train and the wall. Report by Genelle Aldred. In Oakland near Jack London Square heavy rail tracks run in the middle of a quite busy commercial street (Embarcadero) over a stretch of four blocks. Amtrak (and also some freight trains) use these tracks frequently, making a lot of horn noise! Besides some shops and restaurants, there is even a hotel facing the street; I surely would not want to stay there. When a train is approaching, the whole street is shut down with gates and the typical ding ding ding ding noise. This film shows some Amtrak services on a sunny Sunday afternoon running along Embarcadero. Enjoy!
Train maneuvering through Barmouth high street on its way to Cardiff via Bala and Llangollen. The guy walking behind the trailer has control of the back wheels to help turn in smaller areas. The skill of all the drivers was impressive. The train wasn't broken, it was just trapped the wrong side of Barmouth Bridge which was closed to trains at the time following a fire

Trains arrive to the sea. When they almost reach the destination, trolleys pop up from nowhere and push the trailer with beach things down the hill, so the trains lost it. While Vera and Ethan were actively looking for the trailer, George, sweltering with the heat, begin to haunt hallucinations. All laugh above it. However, as soon as George lose consciousness and fall, the friends who he ran to help, noticed that «hallucination». They understand that it is not a hallucination, but the trolleys, stole beach things. Friends catch trolleys, take things and finally enjoy relaxing on the beach. As of Summer 2015, a single R32 set ran on the A train during the PM rush hour. It enters service as the 5:04 PM put-in @ Dyckman Street to Lefferts Boulevard. Once at Lefferts, it turned as the 6:31 PM train back to 207th. I believe it runs one more round trip after that. Had another great T/O for this run in addition to a wonderfully operating R32 3615 (no dead motors, fully dynamic braking, very smooth ride), so enjoy the ride =) Major Station Markers: 7:24 - 168th Street 16:25 - 125th Street 25:50 - 59th Street - Columbus Circle 29:15 - 42nd Street - Port Authority Bus Terminal (40 MPH approach) 33:55 - 14th Street (40 MPH approach) 41:15 - Chambers Street (43 mph through Cranberry St Tubes) 49:30 - Jay Street - Metrotech 56:45 - Nostrand Avenue 59:40 - Utica Avenue 1:03:10 - Broadway...

READ FIRST: EDIT; Snowy ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-TBcQA6OZw Broad Street to Jamaica Center via express and skip-stop. I forget which car number this is, but the dynamic brakes are really good on this one, provided there's enough cooled air being supplied to the resistor grids lol. There's even some wheelslip around the 52:00 mark; can you hear it? Enjoy the ride, the lightning, and the rare line up into Broadway Junction =) Time-lapse version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQwtSl8pE54
