America the Beautiful 3 movie trailer. In 1953, Marilyn Monroe was the icon of female sexuality. At the age of twenty-seven she starred in the monumentally successful film, “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” and this was only at the start of her career. Jump to today and Marilyn Monroe supplies a modestly quaint idol for sexuality compared to modern pop culture icons. Sixteen-year-old pop stars in revealing Catholic schoolgirl uniforms are common alongside four year olds traipsing around beauty pageants in bikinis on national television. America’s youth is becoming more sexually active earlier, some as young as six years old. But why?
The third installment of America the Beautiful explores America’s controversial and shameless sexualization of our youth. Theories and observations merely scratch the surface of a culture centered on the objectification of women. Beneath the glossy, perfect images presented in pop culture there are more desperate stakes at hand. Who is at fault for perpetuating such a harmful culture? Is it corporate greed in advertising? Is it the media that projects these images? Could it even be the parents?
Award-winning director Darryl Roberts along with industry experts Jean Kilbourn, Carolyn Costin, Steven Genarro and Gail Dines tackle the complicated answers to these questions, revealing the treacherous effects this has on not just children, but society as a whole. The assault of images portraying the perfect sexy body is inescapable and inappropriate, contributing to a national physical and mental health crisis. According to the American Psychological Association, the impact of this on girls and women of all ages range from eating disorders to low self-esteem and body image insecurities. ATB 3 also looks at how boys, some as young as 11 years old, are now raised in a porn culture making it is difficult for them to conceptualize healthy relationships and sexuality; the dangers of this are abundant and increasing.
America the Beautiful Part 3 not just about the dangers of spray tans and babies in bikinis, it is a look into the impacts of an unquestioned culture and the psyche of society’s most threatening perpetrators who may not consider themselves to be part of the problem.

Have you ever heard of a rogues’ gallery? Well, it’s a police term given to a collection of snapshots of criminals; you could call a collection of mug shots a sort of “rogues’ gallery.”
For Private Eye Richard Rogue, however, the gallery refers to the stories of cases he has been involved with, or more precisely stumbled into. And today on Southbridge Old Time Radio’s Crime Time, we’re going to drop in at Rogue’s Gallery.
Richard Rogue has the story of a case from October 4, 1945. If you think that the case involves what Richard Rogue would call a beautiful dame, then you are beginning to understand our Mr. Rogue. Here he is now with the story he calls “Blondes Prefer Gentlemen.” Mr. Announcer. You’re on.

Rogue’s Gallery was Dick Powell’s initial foray into radio detective drama, and the precursor to his later, and much better known series, Richard Diamond, Private Detective.
Powell played the role of Richard Rogue, a relatively typical private eye. The hook for these stories was that at some point during each episode, Rogue would lose consciousness, generally as a result of being knocked out by some bad guy. While Rogue was unconscious, his alter ego, Eugor ("Rogue" spelled backwards; played by Peter Leeds) would take over. Introduced by a sinister chuckle, Eugor would introduce a piece of information that Rogue had overlooked, and that would allow him to ultimately solve the mystery du jour.
The series included appearances by recurring characters played by a strong group of solid and competent actors, including the enormously versatile and highly respected Lurene Tuttle and Lou Merrill, Gerald Mohr (episode narrator for the Lone Ranger in 1949), Gloria Blondell (the younger sister of Powell’s former wife, Joan Blondell), and Tony Barrett.
Although Powell was the original Rogue beginning in Sept. 1945, the show went through a few incarnations, in which the character of Rogue was played by Barry Sullivan, then by Chester Morris, the original Boston Blackie.

Her story is well-known -- the lonely child who yearned for affection and approval which she finally seemed to find as Hollywood's greatest love goddess. But even though she scaled heights few could even dream of, she was one of the loneliest of stars.
Here is the "real" Marilyn, drawn from some of her greatest moments on film -- Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How To Marry A Millionaire,The Seven Year Itch, Some Like It Hot, Bus Stop, The Misfits - and more. Here too are the earliest films, the home movies, archival footage, and the memories of those who knew her best, like Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters, Sheree North, Susan Strasberg, Don Murray, Celeste Holm and Josh Logan.

Historic Hollywood hosts Lex Michael, Karie Bible, and Byron Thompson do an an in depth discovery of the masters of film who built Hollywood. In depth biography and filmography of the cinematic masters of the past. Today we're talking about Howard Hawks.
Howard Winchester Hawks (May 30, 1896 – December 26, 1977) was an American film director, producer and screenwriter of the classic Hollywood era. Critic Leonard Maltin labeled Hawks "the greatest American director who is not a household name," noting that, "while his work may not be as well known as Ford, Welles, or DeMille, he is no less a talented filmmaker". He has influenced some of the most popular and respected directors such as Martin Scorsese, Robert Altman. John Carpenter, and Quentin Tarantino. His work is admired by many notable directors including Peter Bogdanovich, François Truffaut, Michael Mann and Jacques Rivette. He is popular for his films from a wide range of genres such as Scarface (1932), Bringing Up Baby (1938), Only Angels Have Wings (1939) , His Girl Friday (1940), Sergeant York (1941), To Have and Have Not (1944), The Big Sleep (1946), Red River (1948), The Thing from Another World(1951), Monkey Business (1952), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), and Rio Bravo (1959).
In 1942, Hawks was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director for Sergeant York, and in 1975 he was awarded an Honorary Academy Award as "a master American filmmaker whose creative efforts hold a distinguished place in world cinema."

- “If you’ve touched something once, you can do it”
- You can find Marcio in the front row of Melissa’s play [Jenny’s House of Joy] …with his pants off (but not really)

- “You’re never as good as they say and you’re never as bad as they say”

- Marcio + Ross = Moss
- Melissa talks about the difference between acting for film and acting on stage
- We talk about voice over work, and Melissa tells us how she narrated a children’s book
Advice:
- In auditions, don’t shake someone’s hand unless they shake yours

- Breakfast at Tiffany’s (Film)
- Gone With The Wind (Film)
