Gail O'Grady

Gail Ann O'Grady (born January 23, 1963), an American actress and producer, is best known for her roles on television. Her roles include Donna Abandando in the ABC police drama NYPD Blue, and Helen Pryor in the NBC drama series American Dreams. O'Grady is also well known for her lead roles in a number of television movies. She has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award three times.

Early life

O'Grady was born in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Jan and Jim O'Grady, a financial planner. She was raised in Wheaton, Illinois, and graduated from Wheaton North High School in 1981. She appeared in a few commercials before moving to Los Angeles in 1986.

Career

O'Grady began her career as model for Montgomery Ward and making several commercials. In one, she played the neighbor for whom Michael J. Fox's character chased down a Diet Pepsi. In time, she began making guest appearances, often as a villain. She made her big screen debut in the 1988 romantic comedy She's Having a Baby, and later was cast in recurring role of ABC drama China Beach opposite Dana Delany. She also guest starred on several other shows, and appeared in made for television and independent movies.

O'Grady

O'Grady is an animated television show created by Tom Snyder and Carl Adams and developed for TV by co-star Holly Schlesinger. It used to air on The N in the US, on MTV in Latin America, Nickelodeon in the United Kingdom (first season only), Family Channel in Canada and on 2x2 in Russia. It stars Melissa Bardin Galsky and H. Jon Benjamin, among other Soup2nuts Productions alumni, as high school students Abby, Beth, Harold, and Kevin, and chronicles their lives along with those of other residents of O'Grady, a fictional town which is periodically plagued by "The Weirdness." The Weirdness affects its residents in strange ways such as projecting their private thoughts in bubbles over their heads, or producing clones of themselves every time they get angry.

Although The N no longer airs reruns of the series, episodes can still be viewed on the network's website. Although O'Grady has been never been released on DVD, all episodes are also available for purchase through iTunes, as well as Amazon Video. On July 14, 2013, TeenNick aired reruns of the show.

Another Woman's Husband

Another Woman's Husband is a 2000 television movie starring Gail O'Grady, Lisa Rinna, Dale Midkiff, Sally Kirkland, Charlotte Rae, Bob Larkin, Amzie Strickland and Carroll Baker. It was directed by Noel Nosseck and written by Anna Tuttle Villegas and Lynne Hugo.

Another Woman

Another Woman is a 1988 American drama film written and directed by Woody Allen. It stars Gena Rowlands as a philosophy professor who accidentally overhears the private analysis of a stranger, and finds the woman's regrets and despair awaken something personal in her.

Plot

Marion Post (Gena Rowlands) is a New York philosophy professor past the age of 50 on a leave of absence to write a new book. Due to construction work in their building, she sublets a furnished flat downtown to have peace and quiet.

Her work there is interrupted by voices from a neighboring office in the building where a therapist conducts his analysis. She quickly realizes that she is privy to the despairing sessions of another woman (Mia Farrow) who is disturbed by a growing feeling that her life is false and empty. Her words strike a chord in Marion, who begins to question herself in the same way.

She comes to realize that, like her father (John Houseman), she has been unfair, unkind and judgmental to many of the people closest to her: her brother Paul (Harris Yulin) and his fragile wife Lynn (Frances Conroy), her best friend from high school Claire (Sandy Dennis), her first husband Sam (Philip Bosco), and her stepdaughter Laura (Martha Plimpton).

Lifetime (TV network)

Lifetime is an American cable and satellite television channel that is part of Lifetime Entertainment Services, a subsidiary of A+E Networks, which is jointly owned by the Hearst Corporation and The Walt Disney Company. The channel features programming that is geared toward women or features women in lead roles.

As of July 2015, approximately 95,020,000 American households (81.6% of households with television) receive Lifetime.

Daytime

Daytime, originally called BETA, was launched in March 1982 by Hearst-ABC Video Services. The cable service operated four hours per day on weekdays. The service was focused on alternative women's programming.

Cable Health Network

Cable Health Network was launched as a full-time channel in June 1982 with a range of health-related programming. In November 1983, Cable Health Network adopted a new name, Lifetime Medical Television.

History

Hearst/ABC-Viacom Entertainment Services

Lifetime was established on February 1, 1984 as the result of a merger of Daytime channel and Viacom's Lifetime Medical Television. A board for the new network was formed with equal representation from Hearst, ABC and Viacom, and the board elected Thomas Burchill as the new network's first CEO. It was not an initial success, reportedly losing $36 million in its first two years of operation, and did not become profitable until 1986. The channel suffered from low viewership, with a poll reportedly finding that some TV viewers erroneously believed it carried religious content.
