James Franco stars in director Danny Boyle's inspiring survival drama based on the incredible true story of Aron Ralston, who became trapped alone in a Utah canyon for days after slipping on a loose rock, and resorted to extraordinary measures in order to make it out of his dire predicament alive. An experienced hiker and climber, Ralston (Franco) is very much in his element when he parks his truck by a mountain near Moab, UT, hops on his bike, and peddles to the middle of nowhere. Later, when Ralston encounters a pair of young female hikers who have gotten lost while searching for a local landmark, he jovially shows them a sight that most casual hikers miss before bidding them farewell and continuing on his way. Drifting through the canyons alone, deep in thought, however, the explorer who presumed he was ready for anything quickly discovers just how fast things can spin out of control when a rock gives way as he shimmies down a crevice, and pins his hand to the unforgiving wall of stone. Over the course of the next 127 hours, Ralston tries everything he can think of to free himself, flashing back to small but memorable events in his life -- as well as forward to the future that he might enjoy should he manage to wiggle free -- as his body begins the slow process of shutting down. Eventually realizing that the only way out is to leave part of himself behind, the exhausted, delirious adventurer draws his cheap made-in-China multi-tool, and does what it takes to survive.

"127 Hours" ist der neue Film des Regisseurs Danny Boyle, der für seinen Überraschungserfolg "Slumdog Millionär" mit dem OSCAR für den Besten Film 2008 ausgezeichnet wurde.
"127 Hours" erzählt die wahre Geschichte des lebensgefährlichen Abenteuers, in das der Bergsteiger Aron Ralston (James Franco) gerät, nachdem ihm ein abstürzender Felsbrocken auf den Arm rollt und eine kleine, abgelegene Schlucht in Utah für ihn zur Falle wird. Gefangen in dieser aussichtslos scheinenden Situation erinnert er sich an Freunde, Geliebte (Clémence Poésy), Familie und die beiden Frauen (Amber Tamblyn und Kate Mara), die wie er in der unwirtlichen Landschaft wanderten und die er kurz vor seinem Unfall getroffen hatte.
Während der nächsten fünf Tage kämpft Ralston mit den Elementen und mit seinen eigenen Dämonen, um schließlich heraus zu finden, dass er den Mut und die Mittel hat, sich selbst aus dieser schrecklichen Situation zu befreien, eine gut zwanzig Meter hohe Wand hinab zu klettern und dann noch einen fast 13 Kilometer langen Fußmarsch zu absolvieren bevor er endlich gerettet wird.
"127 Hours" erzählt diese Nerven strapazierende Geschichte mit einer Dynamik, die die Zuschauer auf ein nie zuvor erlebtes Abenteuer mitnimmt und zeigt, zu was der Mensch fähig ist, wenn er um das pure Überleben kämpfen muss.

127 Hours (soundtrack)
127 Hours: Music from the Motion Picture is the soundtrack to Danny Boyle's 2010 film of the same name. It was composed by two-time Academy Award Winner A. R. Rahman, Boyle's previous collaborator on Slumdog Millionaire. The score, centred on guitar, was recorded mainly in London and was completed in three weeks. The soundtrack was released digitally on 2 November and physically on 22 November, by Interscope Records. The score is briefly orchestral and the song's main theme, "If I Rise" features Rahman playing the Harpejji.
The soundtrack album includes original score and the theme song composed by Rahman, the tracks "Never Hear Surf Music Again" by Free Blood, "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers, Frédéric Chopin's Nocturne No.2 in E flat, Op.9 No.2, "Ça plane pour moi" by Plastic Bertrand, "If You Love Me" by Esther Phillips, and "Festival" by Sigur Rós. The original theme song of the film, "If I Rise", is written by A. R. Rahman (music), Dido and Rollo Armstrong (lyrics) and performed by Dido along with Rahman. It was featured in the climax scene of the film.

"127 Hours" erzählt die wahre Geschichte des lebensgefährlichen Abenteuers, in das der Bergsteiger Aron Ralston (James Franco) gerät, nachdem ihm ein abstürzender Felsbrocken auf den Arm rollt und eine kleine, abgelegene Schlucht in Utah für ihn zur Falle wird. Gefangen in dieser aussichtslos scheinenden Situation erinnert er sich an Freunde, Geliebte (Clémence Poésy), Familie und die beiden Frauen (Amber Tamblyn und Kate Mara), die wie er in der unwirtlichen Landschaft wanderten und die er kurz vor seinem Unfall getroffen hatte.
Während der nächsten fünf Tage kämpft Ralston mit den Elementen und mit seinen eigenen Dämonen, um schließlich heraus zu finden, dass er den Mut und die Mittel hat, sich selbst aus dieser schrecklichen Situation zu befreien, eine gut zwanzig Meter hohe Wand hinab zu klettern und dann noch einen fast 13 Kilometer langen Fußmarsch zu absolvieren bevor er endlich gerettet wird.

Drifting through the canyons alone, deep in thought, however, the explorer who presumed he was ready for anything quickly discovers just how fast things can spin out of control when a rock gives way as he shimmies down a crevice, and pins his hand to the unforgiving wall of stone. Over the course of the next 127 hours, Ralston tries everything he can think of to free himself, flashing back to small but memorable events in his life -- as well as forward to the future that he might enjoy should he manage to wiggle free -- as his body begins the slow process of shutting down. Eventually realizing that the only way out is to leave part of himself behind, the exhausted, delirious adventurer draws his cheap made-in-China multi-tool, and does what it takes to survive.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
James Franco stars in director Danny Boyle's inspiring survival drama based on the incredible true story of Aron Ralston, who became trapped alone in a Utah canyon for days after slipping on a loose rock, and resorted to extraordinary measures in order to make it out of his dire predicament alive. An experienced hiker and climber, Ralston (Franco) is very much in his element when he parks his truck by a mountain near Moab, UT, hops on his bike, and peddles to the middle of nowhere. Later, when Ralston encounters a pair of young female hikers who have gotten lost while searching for a local landmark, he jovially shows them a sight that most casual hikers miss before bidding them farewell and continuing on his way. Drifting through the canyons alone, deep in thought, however, the explorer who presumed he was ready for anything quickly discovers just how fast things can spin out of control when a rock gives way as he shimmies down a crevice, and pins his hand to the unforgiving wall of stone. Over the course of the next 127 hours, Ralston tries everything he can think of to free himself, flashing back to small but memorable events in his life -- as well as forward to the future that he might enjoy should he manage to wiggle free -- as his body begins the slow process of shutting down. Eventually realizing that the only way out is to leave part of himself behind, the exhausted, delirious adventurer draws his cheap made-in-China multi-tool, and does what it takes to survive.
