Background music

Background music refers to various styles of music or soundscapes primarily intended to be passively listened to. It is not meant to be the main focus of an audience, but rather to supplement that which is meant to be focused upon. Music that is played at a low volume and is not the main focus of an audience is also referred to as background music. Traditional examples of background music include music played at various social gatherings and music played in certain retail venues. It is also common to employ background music in various electronic media including film, television, and Internet videos such as video blogs.

Psychological study

The study of background music focuses on the impact of music with non-musical tasks, including changes in behavior in the presence of different types, settings, or styles of music. In laboratory settings, music can affect performance on cognitive tasks (memory, attention, and comprehension), both positively and negatively. Used extensively as an advertising aid, music may also affect marketing strategies, ad comprehension, and consumer choices.

Thanks To

Thanks To is a Korean-language EP by South Korean rock band F.T. Island, released on 23 September, 2013 by FNC Entertainment. Several of the songs were composed by the band members.Memory reached first place on Taiwanese Qmusic Chart, while the EP itself was placed first on the G-MUSIC weekly chart, with a 28,84% share among Asian releases. The band first played the songs from Thanks To during their FTHX concerts in Seoul on 28 and 29 September, drawing an audience of 6,000.

Radio program

A radio program (radio programme in the United Kingdom) or radio show is a segment of content intended for broadcast on radio. It may be a one-time production or part of a periodically recurring series. A single program in a series is called an episode.

International radio

In Britain, radio broadcasting was dominated entirely by the BBC, which since the early 1920s had been developing a broad spectrum of programming including different genres of music and speech, including documentaries, drama, comedy, news, religious broadcasts, children's programmes, schools broadcasts and sports coverage). BBC output was a unifying force within British culture, and has been written about extensively elsewhere.

In the 1950s, a small but growing cohort of Rock and pop music fans, dissatisfied with the BBC's output, might listen to Radio Luxembourg, but to too small an extent to have any impact on the BBC's monopoly and invariably only at night, when the signal from Luxembourg was stronger. During the post-1964 period, western Europe offshore radio (such as Radio Caroline broadcasting from ships at anchor or abandoned forts) helped to supply the demand for the pop and rock music. The BBC launched its own pop music station, BBC Radio 1, in 1967.

Nation Radio

Nation Radio is a regional radio station, broadcasting to South Wales on FM as well as West Wales and North East Wales on DAB. It is owned and operated by Town and Country Broadcasting and broadcasts from studios near the St Hilary transmitter on the outskirts of Cowbridge. The station's music playlist was once a mix of new & classic guitar-led music, reflecting the franchise won originally by XFM, but in 2015 the format was changed to include mainstream pop acts such as Roxette, Madonna and One Republic.

History

Nation Radio began broadcasting on 16 June 2008, taking over the regional Ofcom broadcasting licence, which was held by Xfm South Wales until GCap Media sold the station to Town and Country for an unspecified fee on 30 May 2008.

Starting in March 2013, Nation Radio began to expand its coverage area. Firstly by being broadcast on DAB to north-east Wales and parts of Cheshire and Merseyside, via MuxCo's Wrexham, Chester and Liverpool multiplex. and then from August 2013 to Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire on the Muxco Mid and West Wales multiplex.
