WORCESTER - Two men were arrested Tuesday for allegedly dealing crack cocaine on Main Street.
Jose Diaz, 47, of 85 Piedmont St., and Jonathan Rodriguez, 33, of 229 Chandler St., were each charged with distribution of cocaine and conspiracy to violate drug laws. Two other men were charged with trespassing.
According to police, around 12:30 p.m. members of the police Neighborhood Response Team, in plain clothes, were conducting surveillance in the area of 667 Main St. Officers saw several people hanging out in front of the building, including Mr. Diaz and Mr. Rodriguez. Officers were familiar with the men from previous drug investigations in the Main South area.
Police said officers saw a suspected buyer approach Mr. Diaz and have a short conversation with him. Mr. Diaz walked over to Mr. Rodriguez and gave him cash. Mr. Rodriguez took something out of his mouth and gave it to Mr. Diaz, who delivered it back to the suspected buyer. Officers believed that a drug transaction had taken place, so they stopped the suspected buyer and recovered a clear knotted baggie containing what they believed to be crack cocaine.
Officers arrested the four men, including the two accused of trespassing. The buyer was issued a summons to appear in court for possession of cocaine.
