The IPRGF, as an anarchist militia fighting ISIS in Rojava tweeted out this image from Raqqa. It’s marking the formation of ‘The Queer Insurrection and Liberation Army’ (TQILA), a subgroup of the IRPGF. They proclaim “Queer Liberation! Death to Rainbow Capitalism! “.

A report from ARA News says that Mustafa Bali, Director of the SDF Media Centre, has said the group is not officially part of the SDF or the People’s Protection Units (YPG). However, he has also made some progressive remarks relating to LGBT rights:

“We in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), while emphasizing our deep respect for human rights, including the rights of homosexuals, we deny the formation of such a battalion within the framework of our forces and we consider this news to be untrue,” Bali said in a statement.

Heval Rojhilat, spokesperson for TQILA, told ARA News in an exclusive interview: “Many of our hevals [comrades in Kurdish]…

The Environmental Battle in Cork Harbour

Mother Jones Cork

Anti-Incinerator demo Anti-incinerator protest at Carrigaline, Co. Cork, 2016

As the wider community around Cork Harbour continues to await the decision of An Bord Pleanala (State planning board)  in relation to the planning application by Indaver Ireland to construct an incinerator in Ringaskiddy, Councillor Marcia Dalton of Cork County Council will address this issue on Thursday morning 3rd August at the Maldron Hotel at the Spirit of Mother Jones Festival & Summer School.

Cork Harbour is a beautiful place and home to tens of thousands of people. It is a large natural harbour extending from Cork city to the Atlantic Ocean at Roches Point. Dotted around it are towns and villages, the best known are historic Cobh, Crosshaven, Monkstown and Passage. In past centuries the British Navy long recognised its importance and its ability to provide protection and it created an impregnable series of forts around the entrance making it one…

July 25th: international day of solidarity with anti-fascist prisoners

Cautiously pessimistic

A few suggestions for things you can do to mark the international day of solidarity with anti-fascist prisoners on July 25th:

If you’re in the UK, you might want to contact Kent Anti-Racism Network to see if there’s anything you can do to support their comrade who was jailed earlier this year for confronting nazis in Dover.

Mike Williams is currently being held in Sacramento jail awaiting trial on charges related to his alleged participation in a clash with fascist groups last year. You can donate to help bail him out here (his bail was initially set at a totally ludicrous amount, but that’s hopefully being changed to something more realistic), or send him a letter or card at

HARROW-8 CGYNET

So what has six years of post Winterbourne initiatives, campaigns and the end of public NHS mental bed admissions achieved ?

The increase of private hospital inpatient admissions.

Yet, Winterbourne View was a private hospital.

‘Independent ‘psychiatrists in private hospitals are, apparently, being paid for second opinions to enable the discharge of autistic patients from public ATUs to the private hospitals where they are employed.

Some might call that poaching, and the psychiatrists, anything but independent.

Cygnet’s Headlines portray expansions, as improving autistic ‘services’;

Newham Council…it’s just got personal…

The South Essex STIRRER

I took part in a protest organised by Focus E15 today (Monday 24th July) outside the Newham Council housing office at Bridge House, Stratford. The protest was called to offer solidarity to Chantelle who’s facing eviction and possible relocation out of Newham this week and also for Elina who has been re-located by Local Space Stratford to Pitsea miles away from her family and support network. We support protests like this because what happens in London as people are socially cleansed as part of the project of making the capital a welcome home for the global super rich has direct consequences for our communities out here along the estuary: Booted out of London…https://southessexstirrer.wordpress.com/2017/06/19/booted-out-of-london/

Along with Basildon & Southend Housing Action, we’re doing what we can to support Elina, working closely with Focus E15 in the process. We know that as far as Newham Council and Local Space Stratford…
