Kisenosato Yutaka (born July 3, 1986 as Yutaka Hagiwara (萩原 寛 Hagiwara Yutaka)) is a sumo wrestler from Ibaraki, Japan. He made his professional debut in 2002, and reached the top makuuchi division in 2004 at the age of just 18. His highest rank to date is ōzeki, which he reached in January 2012. He earned three kinboshi or gold star defeats of yokozuna in his career leading up to ōzeki, tying him for third with Toyonoshima on the list of active kinboshi winners after Aminishiki and Takayasu. He has been runner-up in a tournament on eight occasions, but has yet to win his first top division championship or yūshō.
Though Hagiwara was a fan of watching sumo from a young age, he was on his schools' baseball teams in primary and junior high school. He eventually gave up when he realized he was only excelling because of his size. On a chance meeting with then head of Naruto stable, the former yokozuna Takanosato, the head of the stable convinced Hagiwara's initially skeptical parents that he was a great candidate for sumo. Hagiwara eventually joined the stable upon finishing junior high school.

So it all comes down to this! Ozeki Terunofuji (13-1) is one win ahead of yokozuna Kisenosato (12-2) as they enter the 2nd to last match on Day 15. So Kisenosato has to beat Terunofuji here and then again in a playoff to win the yusho. If Terunofuji wins here, it's all over and the Emperor's Cup is his. 2017.25.01 Messengers Kasugano and Takadagawa oyakata arrive to deliver news to Kisenosato of his yokozuna promotion at the formal acceptance ceremony.
Kisenosato Yutaka is the first Japanese Yokozuna in 19 years. He earned the highest rank in sumo by winning the January tournament. Newly appointed Yokozuna go to Meiji Shrine to do their first Dohyo-Iri - ring entry ceremony. Around 18000 people were in attendance. Due to the vast crowds I was only able to film from behind but check out these other videos on dohyo-iri at Meiji Shrine to get a view from the front. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX09ujLk8Qc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTcrnPIqnLg
