Highlights of the huge upset fight between "Terrible" Terry Norris and Simon "Mantequilla" Brown in December 1993.
This fight was the 11th title defense for Norris' WBC Super Welterweight Championship which he won back in 1990. when he viciously knocked out John "The Best" Mugabi in the first round with a thunderous right hand.
Norris knocked out Mugabi in his own hometown of Tampa, Florida. His knockout win was named Knockout of the Year 1990 by Ring Magazine.
Norris then defended his WBC Super Welterweight Championship 10 times and some of his notable defenses were Troy Waters, Meldrick Taylor, Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Curry, Carl Daniels and Jorge Fernando Castro.
On the other hand, Simon Brown moved up to the Super Welterweight division after losing his WBC Welterweight Championship to James Buddy McGirt. Brown was coming up with a 5 win streak as a Super Welterweight before taking on Norris.
Earlier in 1988, Simon Brown won the then vacant vacant IBF World welterweight title against Tyrone Trice via a 14th round TKO and have defended that title 9 times, notably against the likes of Luis Santana, Bobby Joe Young, Jorge Vaca, a rematch with Tyrone Trice and Maurice Blocker in a WBC-IBF unification title fight.
Simon Brown's victory (in this fight) against a prime Terry Norris was named Upset of the Year 1993 by Ring Magazine.

Over the past few years, I’ve been distilling software architecture down to its essence, helping organisations adopt a lightweight style of software architecture that complements agile approaches. This includes doing "just enough" up front design to understand the significant structural elements of the software, some lightweight sketches to communicate that vision to the team, identifying the highest priority risks and mitigating them with concrete experiments. Software architecture is inherently about technical leadership, stacking the odds of success in your favour and ensuring that everybody is heading in the same direction.
But it’s 2015 and, with so much technology at our disposal, we’re still manually drawing software architecture diagrams in tools like Microsoft Visio. Furthermore, these diagrams often don’t reflect the implementation in code, and vice versa. This session will look at why this happens and how to resolve the conflict between software architecture and code through the use of architecturally-evident coding styles and the representation of software architecture models as code.

Terry Norris
Terry Wayne Norris (born June 17, 1967) is an American former boxer and a three-time world champion in the light-middleweight (super-welterweight) division. Originally from Lubbock, Texas, he fought out of San Diego.
Background
A star baseball player during his high school years, Norris bypassed a career on the diamond for one in the ring, amassing a stellar 291-4 amateur record and winning 4 Texas State Golden Gloves titles. Displaying a stunning combination of hand and foot speed as well as the ability to throw dizzying combos, Norris' athletic ability was an uncanny attribute in the ring.
Professional boxing career
Norris turned professional in August 1986. He outpointed future middleweight title holder Quincy Taylor in August 1988. Norris beat future super-middleweight champion Steve Little to win the vacant NABF light-middleweight title in December 1988, and defended it against former IBF title holder Buster Drayton. Norris also picked up two losses; a unanimous decision to Derrick Kelley, and a disqualification loss to Joe Walker in the first round after Norris hit Walker when Walker was down.

Light middleweight
Light middleweight (also referred to as light-middleweight, junior middleweight or super welterweight) is a weight class in combat sports.
Boxing
The light middleweight division (also known as junior middleweight in the IBF or super welterweight in the WBA and WBC), is a weight division in professional boxing, above 147 pounds and up to 154 pounds (66.7–69.9 kg).
History
This division was established in 1962, when the Austrian Board of Control recognized a fight between Nicko Sabong and Teddy Wright for the "world" championship. The fight, which took place on October 17, was won by Griffith via a 15 round decision. Three days later, the World Boxing Association championship was created when Denny Moyer outpointed Joey Giambra. The World Boxing Council recognized the WBA champion as the true division champion until 1975, when it stripped their current champion and sanctioned a fight between Miguel de Oliveira and Jose Duran for the vacant title. De Oliveira won the title over 15 rounds in 1975. The International Boxing Federation crowned its first champion when Mark Medal defeated Earl Hargrove in 1984. The World Boxing Organization crowned its first champion when John David Jackson defeated Lupe Aquino in 1988.

Armed with only his wits and his diary, Spud takes us from illegal night swimming to the red-hot furnace of the cricket pitch, from ghostbusting to a catastrophic family vacation. He also invites us into the mind of a boy struggling to come to terms with a strange new world, a boy whose eyes are being opened to love, friendship and complete insanity.

Highlights of the huge upset fight between "Terrible" Terry Norris and Simon "Mantequilla" Brown in December 1993.
This fight was the 11th title defense for Norris' WBC Super Welterweight Championship which he won back in 1990. when he viciously knocked out John "The Best" Mugabi in the first round with a thunderous right hand.
Norris knocked out Mugabi in his own hometown of Tampa, Florida. His knockout win was named Knockout of the Year 1990 by Ring Magazine.
Norris then defended his WBC Super Welterweight Championship 10 times and some of his notable defenses were Troy Waters, Meldrick Taylor, Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Curry, Carl Daniels and Jorge Fernando Castro.
On the other hand, Simon Brown moved up to the Super Welterweight division after losing his WBC Welterweight Championship to James Buddy McGirt. Brown was coming up with a 5 win streak as a Super Welterweight before taking on Norris.
Earlier in 1988, Simon Brown won the then vacant vacant IBF World welterweight title against Tyrone Trice via a 14th round TKO and have defended that title 9 times, notably against the likes of Luis Santana, Bobby Joe Young, Jorge Vaca, a rematch with Tyrone Trice and Maurice Blocker in a WBC-IBF unification title fight.
Simon Brown's victory (in this fight) against a prime Terry Norris was named Upset of the Year 1993 by Ring Magazine.

If you want evidence that the software development industry is susceptible to fashion, just go and take a look at all of the hype around microservices. It's everywhere! For some people microservices is "the next big thing", whereas for others it's simply a lightweight evolution of the big service-oriented architectures that we saw 10 years ago "done right". Microservices is by no means a silver bullet though, and the design thinking required to create a good microservices architecture is the same as that needed to create a well structured monolith. And this begs the question that if you can’t build a well-structured monolith, what makes you think microservices is the answer?
Simon Brown is an independent consultant and helps organisations to build better software by adopting a lightweight, pragmatic approach to software architecture. He is the creator of the C4 software architecture model and the author of Software Architecture for Developers - a developer-friendly guide to software architecture, technical leadership and the balance with agility. Over the past few years, I’ve been distilling software architecture down to its essence, helping organisations adopt a lightweight style of software architecture that complements agile approaches. This includes doing "just enough" up front design to understand the significant structural elements of the software, some lightweight sketches to communicate that vision to the team, identifying the highest priority risks and mitigating them with concrete experiments. Software architecture is inherently about technical leadership, stacking the odds of success in your favour and ensuring that everybody is heading in the same direction.
But it’s 2015 and, with so much technology at our disposal, we’re still manually drawing software architecture diagrams in tools like Microsoft Visio. Furthermore, these diagrams often don’t reflect the implementation in code, and vice versa. This session will look at why this happens and how to resolve the conflict between software architecture and code through the use of architecturally-evident coding styles and the representation of software architecture models as code.

Highlights of the huge upset fight between "Terrible" Terry Norris and Simon "Mantequilla" Brown in December 1993.
This fight was the 11th title defense for Norris' WBC Super Welterweight Championship which he won back in 1990. when he viciously knocked out John "The Best" Mugabi in the first round with a thunderous right hand.
Norris knocked out Mugabi in his own hometown of Tampa, Florida. His knockout win was named Knockout of the Year 1990 by Ring Magazine.
Norris then defended his WBC Super Welterweight Championship 10 times and some of his notable defenses were Troy Waters, Meldrick Taylor, Sugar Ray Leonard, Donald Curry, Carl Daniels and Jorge Fernando Castro.
On the other hand, Simon Brown moved up to the Super Welterweight division after losing his WBC Welterweight Championship to James Buddy McGirt. Brown was coming up with a 5 win streak as a Super Welterweight before taking on Norris.
Earlier in 1988, Simon Brown won the then vacant vacant IBF World welterweight title against Tyrone Trice via a 14th round TKO and have defended that title 9 times, notably against the likes of Luis Santana, Bobby Joe Young, Jorge Vaca, a rematch with Tyrone Trice and Maurice Blocker in a WBC-IBF unification title fight.
Simon Brown's victory (in this fight) against a prime Terry Norris was named Upset of the Year 1993 by Ring Magazine.

If you want evidence that the software development industry is susceptible to fashion, just go and take a look at all of the hype around microservices. It's everywhere! For some people microservices is "the next big thing", whereas for others it's simply a lightweight evolution of the big service-oriented architectures that we saw 10 years ago "done right". Microservices is by no means a silver bullet though, and the design thinking required to create a good microservices architecture is the same as that needed to create a well structured monolith. And this begs the question that if you can’t build a well-structured monolith, what makes you think microservices is the answer?
Simon Brown is an independent consultant and helps organisations to build better software by adopting a lightweight, pragmatic approach to software architecture. He is the creator of the C4 software architecture model and the author of Software Architecture for Developers - a developer-friendly guide to software architecture, technical leadership and the balance with agility. Simon lives in Jersey (the largest of the Channel Islands) and his client list spans over 20 countries, including organisations ranging from small technology startups through to global household names. He still codes too.

Over the past few years, I’ve been distilling software architecture down to its essence, helping organisations adopt a lightweight style of software architecture that complements agile approaches. This includes doing "just enough" up front design to understand the significant structural elements of the software, some lightweight sketches to communicate that vision to the team, identifying the highest priority risks and mitigating them with concrete experiments. Software architecture is inherently about technical leadership, stacking the odds of success in your favour and ensuring that everybody is heading in the same direction.
But it’s 2015 and, with so much technology at our disposal, we’re still manually drawing software architecture diagrams in tools like Microsoft Visio. Furthermore, these diagrams often don’t reflect the implementation in code, and vice versa. This session will look at why this happens and how to resolve the conflict between software architecture and code through the use of architecturally-evident coding styles and the representation of software architecture models as code.
