Elisabeth of Austria (24 December 1837 -- 10 September 1898) was the wife of Franz Joseph I, and therefore both Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. She also held the titles of Queen of Bohemia and Croatia, among others. From an early age, she was called Sisi by family and friends.
Although Elisabeth had a limited (but significant) influence on Austro-Hungarian politics,[citation needed] she became an historical icon. The Empress is now thought to have been a non-conformist who abhorred conventional court protocol, as well as a free spirit, who valued an individual sense of freedom above anything else. Following the suicide of her son Rudolf, she withdrew from public life. She was murdered by an anarchist in Geneva, Switzerland in 1898. Elisabeth is the longest serving consort of Austria.
Assassination....
They were walking along the promenade when the 25-year-old Italian anarchist Luigi Lucheni approached them, attempting to peer underneath the empress's parasol. According to Sztaray, as the ship's bell announced the departure, Lucheni seemed to stumble and made a movement with his hand as if he wanted to maintain his balance. In reality, in an act of "propaganda of the deed", he had stabbed Elisabeth with a sharpened needle file that was 4 inches (100 mm) long (used to file the eyes of industrial needles) that he had inserted into a wooden handle.
A former mason, railway laborer and former valet to the Prince of Aragon, Lucheni originally planned to kill the Duke of Orléans, but the Pretender to France's throne had left Geneva earlier for the Valais. Failing to find him, the assassin selected Elisabeth when a Geneva newspaper revealed that the elegant woman traveling under the pseudonym of "Countess of Hohenembs" was the Empress Elisabeth of Austria.
After Lucheni struck her, the empress collapsed. A coach driver helped her to her feet and alerted the Austrian concierge of the Beau-Rivage, a man named Planner, who had been watching the empress' progress toward the Geneve. The two women walked roughly 100 yards (91 m) to the gangway and boarded, at which point Sztaray relaxed her hold on Elisabeth's arm. The empress then lost consciousness and collapsed next to her. Sztaray called for a doctor, but only a former nurse, a fellow passenger, was available. The boat's captain, Captain Roux, was ignorant of Elisabeth's identity and since it was very hot on deck, advised the countess to disembark and take her companion back to her hotel. Meanwhile, the boat was already sailing out of the harbor. Three men carried Elisabeth to the top deck and laid her on a bench. Sztaray opened her gown, cut Elisabeth's corset laces so she could breathe. Elisabeth revived somewhat and Sztaray asked her if she was in pain, and she replied, "No". She then asked, "What has happened?" and lost consciousness again,now for ever.

Elisabeth of Austria (24 December 1837 -- 10 September 1898) was the wife of Franz Joseph I, and therefore both Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary. She also held the titles of Queen of Bohemia and Croatia, among others. From an early age, she was called Sisi by family and friends.
Although Elisabeth had a limited (but significant) influence on Austro-Hungarian politics,[citation needed] she became an historical icon. The Empress is now thought to have been a non-conformist who abhorred conventional court protocol, as well as a free spirit, who valued an individual sense of freedom above anything else. Following the suicide of her son Rudolf, she withdrew from public life. She was murdered by an anarchist in Geneva, Switzerland in 1898. Elisabeth is the longest serving consort of Austria.

They were walking along the promenade when the 25-year-old Italian anarchist Luigi Lucheni approached them, attempting to peer underneath the empress's parasol. According to Sztaray, as the ship's bell announced the departure, Lucheni seemed to stumble and made a movement with his hand as if he wanted to maintain his balance. In reality, in an act of "propaganda of the deed", he had stabbed Elisabeth with a sharpened needle file that was 4 inches (100 mm) long (used to file the eyes of industrial needles) that he had inserted into a wooden handle.
A former mason, railway laborer and former valet to the Prince of Aragon, Lucheni originally planned to kill the Duke of Orléans, but the Pretender to France's throne had left Geneva earlier for the Valais. Failing to find him, the assassin selected Elisabeth when a Geneva newspaper revealed that the elegant woman traveling under the pseudonym of "Countess of Hohenembs" was the Empress Elisabeth of Austria.
After Lucheni struck her, the empress collapsed. A coach driver helped her to her feet and alerted the Austrian concierge of the Beau-Rivage, a man named Planner, who had been watching the empress' progress toward the Geneve. The two women walked roughly 100 yards (91 m) to the gangway and boarded, at which point Sztaray relaxed her hold on Elisabeth's arm. The empress then lost consciousness and collapsed next to her. Sztaray called for a doctor, but only a former nurse, a fellow passenger, was available. The boat's captain, Captain Roux, was ignorant of Elisabeth's identity and since it was very hot on deck, advised the countess to disembark and take her companion back to her hotel. Meanwhile, the boat was already sailing out of the harbor. Three men carried Elisabeth to the top deck and laid her on a bench. Sztaray opened her gown, cut Elisabeth's corset laces so she could breathe. Elisabeth revived somewhat and Sztaray asked her if she was in pain, and she replied, "No". She then asked, "What has happened?" and lost consciousness again,now for ever.

An NER Interview with Dr. Mark Christian, Egyptian former Muslim.

The Egyptian military on the evening of July 3rd toppled Islamist President Mohammed Morsi after one year in office. Millions gathered in Tahrir Square and rejoiced. Prior to the expiry of the ultimatum from Egypt’s military units had seized Al Ahram, the state newspaper, and occupied the central TV station. The action came just before the onset of the Muslim holy period of Ramadan that begins on July 8th. The new force in Egypt is someone Morsi had appointed to replace previous military leaders loyal to ousted President Mubarak, Col. Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi. President Morsi and senior Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie are under military detention and warrants have been issued for the arrests of 300 Muslim Brotherhood leaders. The military suspended the Shariah compliant Constitution pushed through by Islamists loyal to Morsi, called for new parliamentary elections and appointed Adly Mansour, head of Egypt's High Constitutional Court, as interim leader to draft a new Constitution and head a government of technocrats. This followed an ultimatum by Gen el-Sissi on June 30th giving Morsi 48 hours to conduct talks with opposition leaders. Instead, Morsi went on Egyptian television on Tuesday evening, July 2nd delivering a defiant impassioned speech about being democratically elected as the country’s political leader a year ago. Prior to the military’s action millions marched in Egypt’s major cities. 39 were killed in protests and the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Cairo was attacked and sacked. As with the massive demonstrations in Tahrir Square in February 2011, millions marched nightly with headbands and posters emblazoned with the Arabic word tamrod, “rebellion”. The country has been reeling with rising opposition to Morsi and Islamists, a swooning economy, no gas to harvest wheat or bake bread, rampant unemployment and crime waves. Minority Shia leaders were killed in sectarian raids by Muslim Brotherhood supporters. Coptic Christians were told unceremoniously by US Ambassador Anne Patterson to keep quiet in their criticism of now vanquished President Morsi.
The Obama Administration had reached out to Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Egypt and on June 13, 2013 had invited Sheik Abdullah Bin Bayyah, the deputy to Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the banned anti-Semitic, Anti-American Muslim Brotherhood preacher. He met with outgoing National Security Council Advisor, Tom Donilon and others on President Obama’s staff. Posters in English in Tahrir Square accused President Obama and Amb. Anne Patterson of fostering Muslim Brotherhood terrorism. Meanwhile the Obama White House issued statements following the Egyptian military on July 3, 2013 expressing “deep concern" of the decision to remove Morsi and urged the military to avoid "any arbitrary arrests" of the president and his supporters. The President "directed relevant departments and agencies to review the implications under U.S. law for our assistance to the government of Egypt."
Fox News noted:
At the U.S. State Department media briefing Wednesday, spokeswoman Jen Psaki restated the administration's priority on the democratic process.
"It's never been about one individual," she told reporters. "It's been about hearing and allowing the voices of the Egyptian people to be heard."
Pentagon Spokesman George Little said there has been no change in terms of the U.S. military pre-positioning assets in and around Egypt in the event they are called upon to assist the U.S. embassy in Cairo.
The events leading up to the July 3rd action in Cairo have vanquished the Obama Administration and before that the Bush Administration outreach to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and here in the US. In has questioned complicity in furthering the agenda of Organization of the Islamic Cooperation seeking to impose Blasphemy codes on criticism of Islam.
Against this background we reached out to interview Dr. Mark Christian, a trained Egyptian physician and former Muslim of the Global Faith Institute. Christian, his adopted name, is a convert to Christianity who has a fatwa against his life issued by the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Because of his family background he is in a unique position to comment on these tumultuous changes in Egypt and whether Den. Al-Sisi’s agenda could portend a difficult period ahead for America and its ally in the Middle East, Israel. Dr. Christian’s views are his own but highly relevant and revelatory. He warns do not count the Muslim Brotherhood down and out. Further, he speculates whether Al-Sisi’s interests are in synch with American national interests in the troubled Middle East.

Al-Sisi’s agenda could portend a difficult period ahead for America and its ally in the Middle East, Israel. Dr. Christian’s views are his own but highly relevant and revelatory. The Egyptian military on the evening of July 3rd toppled Islamist President Mohammed Morsi after one year in office. Millions gathered in Tahrir Square and rejoiced. Prior to the expiry of the ultimatum from Egypt’s military units had seized Al Ahram, the state newspaper, and occupied the central TV station. The action came just before the onset of the Muslim holy period of Ramadan that begins on July 8th. The new force in Egypt is someone Morsi had appointed to replace previous military leaders loyal to ousted President Mubarak, Col. Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi. President Morsi and senior Muslim Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie are under military detention and warrants have been issued for the arrests of 300 Muslim Brotherhood leaders. The military suspended the Shariah compliant Constitution pushed through by Islamists loyal to Morsi, called for new parliamentary elections and appointed Adly Mansour, head of Egypt's High Constitutional Court, as interim leader to draft a new Constitution and head a government of technocrats. This followed an ultimatum by Gen el-Sissi on June 30th giving Morsi 48 hours to conduct talks with opposition leaders. Instead, Morsi went on Egyptian television on Tuesday evening, July 2nd delivering a defiant impassioned speech about being democratically elected as the country’s political leader a year ago. Prior to the military’s action millions marched in Egypt’s major cities. 39 were killed in protests and the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Cairo was attacked and sacked. As with the massive demonstrations in Tahrir Square in February 2011, millions marched nightly with headbands and posters emblazoned with the Arabic word tamrod, “rebellion”. The country has been reeling with rising opposition to Morsi and Islamists, a swooning economy, no gas to harvest wheat or bake bread, rampant unemployment and crime waves. Minority Shia leaders were killed in sectarian raids by Muslim Brotherhood supporters. Coptic Christians were told unceremoniously by US Ambassador Anne Patterson to keep quiet in their criticism of now vanquished President Morsi. The Obama Administration had reached out to Muslim Brotherhood leaders in Egypt and on June 13, 2013 had invited Sheik Abdullah Bin Bayyah, the deputy to Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the banned anti-Semitic, Anti-American Muslim Brotherhood preacher. He met with outgoing National Security Council Advisor, Tom Donilon and others on President Obama’s staff. Posters in English in Tahrir Square accused President Obama and Amb. Anne Patterson of fostering Muslim Brotherhood terrorism. Meanwhile the Obama White House issued statements following the Egyptian military on July 3, 2013 expressing “deep concern" of the decision to remove Morsi and urged the military to avoid "any arbitrary arrests" of the president and his supporters. The President "directed relevant departments and agencies to review the implications under U.S. law for our assistance to the government of Egypt." Fox News noted: At the U.S. State Department media briefing Wednesday, spokeswoman Jen Psaki restated the administration's priority on the democratic process. When Milly tells her teddy bear that she wishes she were bigger and leaves it in the garden shed, XANA possesses it and uses it to attack those who had made fun of her. It then increases the teddy bear's size to roughly two stories and sets it on the town. Since Ulrich had to protect the school and warn Yumi, it's up to Odd go to Lyoko and help Aelita deactivate the tower and protect the rest of the town from the rampaging teddy bear. After a return to the past, Milly asks Ulrich to the dance again, and Ulrich says yes, embarrassing Sissi.

I admit it. I'm a bit of a nerd.
