Kelly Basin is a bay on the south eastern side of Macquarie Harbour on the West Coast of Tasmania.
It was named after James Kelly an early explorer of the Tasmanian coastline.
It was the location of the terminus of the North Mount Lyell Railway, and the ghost town of Pillinger.
In the late 1890s when John Watt Beattie was showing his photographs of the west coast country to Hobart and Launceston audiences, it was designated as Kelly's Basin.
The North Mount Lyell Railway close in the 1920s, and the former railway formation - known as 'Kelly Basin Road' was the land route to access the area.
In the 1990s following the failure of the Franklin Dam project to proceed - parts of the Kelly Basin and Bird River area became part of reserves associated with the western boundary of the new South West World Heritage Wilderness area.
In the Southwest National Park, and as part of the body of water known as Port Davey, is a feature with a very similar name of James Kelly Basin
The Bighorn Basin is a plateau region and intermontane basin, approximately 100 miles (160 km) wide, in north-central Wyoming in the United States. It is bounded by the Absaroka Range on the west, the Bighorn Mountains on the east, and the Owl Creek Mountains and Bridger Mountains on the south. It is drained to the north by tributaries of the Bighorn River, which enters the basin from the south, through a gap between the Owl Creek and Bridger Mountains, as the Wind River, and becomes the Bighorn as it enters the basin. The region is semi-arid, receiving only 6–10 in (15–25 cm) of rain annually.
The largest cities in the basin include the Wyoming towns of Cody, Thermopolis, Worland, and Powell. Sugar beets are grown on irrigated farms in the region.
This walk is an absolutely amazing trip. It follows the wonderful Bird River, before heading away from it and arriving at the ruins of East Pillinger, sitting in Kelly Basin. I personally see this walk as one of my favourite low altitude walks in Tasmania. It is well worth a visit if you're on Tasmania's west coast.
At the north end of Kelly's Beach is a lovely little basin called "The Basin" LOL Anyway if you go in there with some bread and throw little bits you can feed the little and not so little fish. Lots of fun. Sorry about the audio quality in the narration. :(
Wyoming's Bighorn Basin: 14,000 Years of Climate and Human Population Change," Robert L. Kelly, Frison Institute director and Department of Anthropology professor. We can now reconstruct changes in the size of human populations, accurately over thousands of years, with a new method developed by UW faculty members. Combined with new UW research into past climate change, we can also examine, more precisely than ever before, the relationships between human population size and climate change. Find out what these new insights from Wyoming's Bighorn Basin could mean for the Rocky Mountain region. A past president of the Society for American Archaeology and past secretary of the Archaeology Division of the American Anthropological Association, Kelly has written more than 100 articles, books, and...

Feb. 4, 1996. Mike Dunham was injured and Mikey Meirick was killed in an avalanche outside the A-Basin boundary in an area known as Steep Gullies. Some judgement errors were made and their friends questioned their decision so go out of bounds that day. Still it doesn't diminish the heartbreaking scene along highway 6 as patrollers from A-Basin, Keystone, and Loveland ski areas pulled the victims out. This is a different edit from the one I gave Kelly Flynn for his 1997 video Guerrilla Film.
An adventure into the deep, deep wilderness of South West Tasmania. Heading to the historic village town of Pillinger located at Kelly Basin. *apologies too for no background music. Still getting the hang of vlogging ✌️

Kelly is a Middletown High School alum with a Marine Affairs degree from URI. She served in the US Peace Corps as an environmental educator in rural Jamaica before beginning her career as a fish biologist. She spent time studying a variety of species and managing renewable energy projects from the Bering Sea to the Columbia River Basin and became a prolific writer on the subject. After a series of heartbreaking family tragedies, she took to writing as a form of healing; her novel Breathe won IPNE Awards for Best Book & Best Narrative Nonfiction and was received with praise and gratitude by so many struggling with grief of their ow...
Art. Culture. History. Food. Luxury. The Rhine River. Basel has a lot going on and I had limited time to see it so I took in the highlights as fast as I could. My homebase was the Hotel Nomad, a trendy boutique with easy access to top sites like the Altstadt, or old city, the Marktplatz which has a farmer's market, Johann Wanner Christmas shop, the Kunstmuseum Basel, Fondation Beyeler and the Rhine River. We took river ferries to cross to Klein Basel, a funky neighborhood with a lot of great shops, cafes and of course, the notable Ueli Brewery. Check out this travel guide for how to see some of Basel's hotspots, in just 24 hours!

Geneva is internationally known as a hotspot of luxury, culture, business and FOOD. The culinary scene in Geneva benefits from it's prime location--next to the lake, the countryside, farmland and of course, France! The local farmer's market in Carouge gave me a taste of the regional specialties. You'll find a mix of food in the city center, from modern cafes to historic gourmet dining. And don't forget to reach for that Michelin guide, the city has a high number of Michelin & Gault-Millau restaurants so you'll be eating very well for every meal here. CNN asked me to explore a beautiful, rural region of Japan and I couldn't have ran faster to the airplane. Japan has been on my bucket list forever and a week of exploring the country's Northern region of Tohoku was even more life-changing than I could have expected. We focused on local life and culture, taking in a cherry blossom festival in Aomori, competitively eating Soba noodles at Wanco-Soba, and the samurai houses of "Kakunodate." I hope you get a glimpse into this ancient treasureland of Tohoku and see why it is such a special place in our world.

The storm is approaching, infernal darkness,
Covered the sun and the night fell.
The Lord of hideous monsters got the mortal,
Grips with the king of light.
Two minds and two bodies clashed with
Each other: Hell and heaven.
Rule, power, axe - it was the
Picture of my king.
He gave us faith in life,
They showed us how to fight with evil.
Now he's gone.
I'm anxious about my life.
I'm anxious about our future.
That's the end. Collapse. Ruin all around.
I'm dazzled by the blaze of fire.
I see the exhaustion of my king slaying,
The lord of shadows. They die together.
Their bodies get smashed against the rocks.
Bloody mortal remains of my kings are
Crying for vengeance.
There's nobody to take revenge.
Rule, power, axe - it was the
Picture of my king.
He gave us faith in life,
They showed us how to fight with evil.
Now he's gone.
I'm anxious about my life.
