Trevor Charles Rabin (born 13 January 1954) is a South African-born musician, singer-songwriter, producer, and film score composer. Born in Johannesburg, Rabin was born into a family of musicians. After taking up the piano and guitar, Rabin became a session musician with a variety of artists prior to forming his first major rock band Rabbitt who enjoyed considerable success in South Africa. In 1978, Rabin moved to London, working as a solo artist and a producer for various artists. He moved to Los Angeles in 1981.
In 1983, Rabin joined the English progressive rock band Yes as guitarist and played on their albums 90125 (1983), Big Generator (1987), Union (1991), and Talk (1994). Developed mostly from Rabin's compositions, 90125 remains the band's biggest selling album. Its lead single, "Owner of a Lonely Heart", is the only one to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 1995, Rabin left to become a film composer and has scored over 40 feature films and won numerous awards, including 11 BMI Awards. He continues to release albums, his most recent is Jacaranda (2012).
Gridiron Gang is a 2006 American sports drama film directed by Phil Joanou, and starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Xzibit, L. Scott Caldwell and Kevin Dunn. It is loosely based on the true story of the Kilpatrick Mustangs during the 1990 season. The film was released in the United States on September 15, 2006. It was distributed by Columbia Pictures.
In music, an arrangement is a musical reconceptualization of a previously composed work. It may differ from the original work by means of reharmonization, melodic paraphrasing, orchestration, or development of the formal structure. Arranging differs from orchestration in that the latter process is limited to the assignment of notes to instruments for performance by an orchestra, concert band, or other musical ensemble. Arranging "involves adding compositional techniques, such as new thematic material for introductions, transitions, or modulations, and endings.... Arranging is the art of giving an existing melody musical variety".
Arrangements and transcriptions of classical and serious music go back to the early history of this genre. In particular, music written for the piano has frequently undergone this treatment. The suite of ten piano pieces Pictures at an Exhibition, by Modest Mussorgsky, has been arranged over twenty times, notably by Maurice Ravel.
Due to his lack of expertise in orchestration, the American composer George Gershwin had his Rhapsody in Blue orchestrated and arranged by Ferde Grofé.
"Better Than" is a song by John Butler Trio from their fourth studio album, Grand National. Produced by John Butler and Mario Caldato Jr., it was released in the United States on 20 February 2007 as an online single, the third single in Australia and the first overseas single from the album.
The EP includes two previously unreleased tracks recorded in the Grand National sessions, and a special radio mix version of "Better Than" from US sound man, Chris Lord-Alge. To this day, the radio mix version still receives moderate airplay from adult alternative stations.
The EP debuted at number sixteen in the ARIA Singles Chart on 3 September 2007. "Better Than" was also popular in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007 being voted at #4 and appearing on the compilation CD.
On 31 July 2007 the song was performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
An accompanying music video for "Better Than", which utilizes the "Chris Lord-Alge radio mix" has been released on YouTube on August 1, 2007. In this video, members of the John Butler Trio band perform the song while on animated posters and performing on various spots of the streets with various pedestrians and skateboarders going by. Throughout, 2 messages (which reiterate the lyrical content in the song itself) are shown in a style of graffiti saying "The best things in life...aren't things!" and "Art changes people... people change the world."
Perfect Symmetry is the third studio album by English rock band Keane, released on 13 October 2008 in the United Kingdom. According to international Island Records manager, Jon Turner, "the general international feel is of excitement and 'Spiralling' is a favourite track of the US company."
Perfect Symmetry is a departure from Keane's established piano-pop sound, with the band employing guitars for the first time since their early musical beginnings and a larger reliance on synthesizers than their previous effort Under the Iron Sea, as well as experimenting with other instruments such as the musical saw, saxophone and string arrangements. Also most notable is the emergence of a 1980s' synthpop-influenced style on most songs such as "Spiralling" and "Again and Again". The album is the result of a more relaxed and creative recording process in comparison to the tense sessions for Under the Iron Sea. One of the only piano-driven songs on the album is the track of the same name. Jesse Quin joined Keane from this album as a studio and live support member. He became an official member three years later.

Originally this song was composed for Yes. In this video I got the Live version of Trevor Rabin himself. I like this version the best. He performed this Live in LA in 1989. Don''t be mistaken by the images I used, these are coming from a live concert of Yes dating 1984. I made the concert fit this version of the song! Yes formation in the 80's and 90's: Jon Anderson (Leading Vocals, acoustic guitar/keyboards), Trevor Rabin (Vocals, Leading guitar), Chris Squire (Vocals, Bass guitar), Alan White (Background vocals, drums), Tony Kaye (Background vocals, Keyboards).
Yours Is No Disgrace - Performed Live in Rio in 1985. Trevor was on fire and seeing him perform this classic yes song with such commitment skill and brilliance is a performance career highlight for me. To have seen him live with Rabbitt in 1977 and to think that he would be performing Yours is no Disgrace with Yes in front of hunderds of thousands of people in less than 8 years time is an amazing achievement
Yes live at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, July 9, 2011, playing "Owner of a Lonely Heart" with a very rare special guest appearance by past-member Trevor Rabin. Video taken on my little Canon S-210 in HD. My apologies for the background comments.

Andrew and Jessie are very pleased to have Trevor Rabin on the show -- a very accomplished guitarist, musician, and film composer. Born in South Africa, he is best known as a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter for the British progressive rock band YES from '82-94, but now as a film composer for film and television. Not only will Andrew and Jessie talk about his score accomplishments (The Guardian, Gone in 60 seconds, Deep Blue Sea, I am Number Four, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, National Treasure, Remember the Titans), we will discuss his most recent release, Jacaranda -- the first solo album in two decades!
This is the companion piece to the Jon Anderson interview about "Union." Tesshi Ichikawa interviewed and Steve Harris interpreted at the Capitol Tokyo Hotel in Tokyo, Japan, during the Union Tour on Feb. 24, 1992. Seems like Trevor was okay with what was happening... We're now on Facebook: Look up the group "Musicians in Their Own Words"!
It was getting dark towards the end of this drive and we had no idea where we were. The sky looks fantastic. It turns out we had gone as far as Ystradfellte, a small village in Powys, Wales, in the Fforest Fawr area of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Enjoy the music I have chosen (mainly rock ballads). Songs featured are: 1) SCORPIONS - Always Somewhere (1979) 2) TREVOR RABIN - I'm Old Enough (To Make You A Woman) (1979) 3) NAZARETH - Star (1979) 4) THIN LIZZY - With Love (1979) 5) RAINBOW - Makin' Love (1979) 6) STARZ - My Sweet Child (1978) 7) JUDAS PRIEST - Evening Star (1978) If you enjoy this, check out my other "driving playlist" videos.

I was waiting for the moment
I was hoping for the moment
I can see a city burn on the horizon
Sudden darkness fills the sky and hides the day
Though the fires have set me free
From the clouds that cover me
I can't look away
I can't look away
I have climbed the valley side, scaled the mountain
Yet, my freedom's still one thousand miles away
Yet, I'm frozen in mid-stride
By this yearning deep inside
I can't look away
I can't look away
I was waiting for the moment
Then I heard the angels scream
I heard the angels scream
Cloaked in arms of war, come to look for you
For until they've seen there is no other way
Through the flames that set me free
And the clouds that cover me
I won't look away
I won't look away
I won't look away
