A trip of a lifetime, 3 months traveling around South East Asia!
This short video is a summary of our trip to South East Asia. We started in Bangkok and moved to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia, we then rode motorbikes up the coast of Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi stopping in Ha Long Bay. After climbing Mt Fansipan (3143m) we went into Laos, then elephant riding in Chiang Mai and from there, traveled to the islands of Koh Phi Phi, Scuba Diving in Ko Tao, and the full moon party in Ko Pha Ngan! We ended our trip in Singapore, traveling via Malaysia.
We had 150gb of footage from the GoPro HERO3, I hope you will enjoy it!

Today, we're going to discuss the genetic, ethnic, and religious makeup of the countries that are in Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and more. We're also going to touch up on the history of some of these groups and how they came to be in the region.
Southeast Asia is one of my favorite regions in the world to learn about! It's got ethnic, linguistic, and religious diversity not seen elsewhere on the planet, and it's important to learn about!

PS.. Sorry for all the mistakes with the names. Its pretty hard doing to do in this style labeling all the country's. Also early kingdoms facts are sometimes hidden in Myth.

Asia (
i/ˈeɪʒə/ or /ˈeɪʃə/) is the Earth's largest and most populous continent, located primarily in the eastern and northern hemispheres. Asia covers an area of 44,579,000 square kilometers, about 30% of Earth's total land area and 8.7% of the Earth's total surface area. It has historically been home to the world's first modern civilizations and has always hosted the bulk of the planet's human population. Asia is notable for not only overall large size and population, but unusually dense and large settlements as well as vast barely populated regions within the continent of 4.4 billion people. The boundaries of Asia are traditionally determined as that of Eurasia, as there is no significant geographical separation between Asia and Europe. We were basically just driving almost every day to get North as fast as possible. Filmed by Vincent Urban & Clemens Krüger Shot with Canon 7D EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 Edited by Vincent Urban Music by: Shearwater - "Meridian" Episode 2 Info: 0:01 - Pai Pai is actually in Northern Thailand so we got there later than the edit would suggest. However, I wanted to put it into the beginning as it's a fun contrast to the quiet shots afterwards. It is somewhat of a Hippie-Mecca with lots of alternative tourists but also has this festival which seemed very authentic to us. 1:34 - Bangkok (Part 1) We visited Bangkok twice on our trip. So there's a lot more to come in Episode 5. This time, it's only a handful of impressions from the rainy days. 2:35 - North Thailand (general) After Bangkok is was raining a week straight. We were going into the mountains in the north-western Region driving on mud roads and fighting the water inside the car as it was leaking through on many spots. Camping is no fun, when it's pouring. 2:48 - Doi Inthanon Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand with 2565 Meters. But the peak is still covered with high trees so you don't really get any spectacular view. However, the fog within the forest up there made a great scenery. 3:00 - Refugee Kids We accidentally drove in this area where there was a refugee camp streching over many kilometers at the Myanmar boarder. They wouldn't let us in but we could see many kids playing outside on the streets. Later we found a Myanmar refugee which told us alot about the region and why there are all there. 3:48 - Chiang Mai This was one of the most fun cities we visited with tons of young native people studying there so we had some great nights going out. Luckily, we didn't film any of it. After Chiang Mai we drove straight to Chiang Khong all the way North East at the Laos boarder to cross it the next morning.

Backpacking Around South East Asia
A trip of a lifetime, 3 months traveling around South East Asia! This short video is a summary of our trip to South East Asia. We started in Bangkok and moved to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia, we then rode motorbikes up the coast of Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi stopping in Ha Long Bay. After climbing Mt Fansipan (3143m) we went into Laos, then elephant riding in Chiang Mai and from there, traveled to the islands of Koh Phi Phi, Scuba Diving in Ko Tao, and the full moon party in Ko Pha Ngan! We ended our trip in Singapore, traveling via Malaysia. We had 150gb of footage from the GoPro HERO3, I hope you will enjoy it! And so on.. PS.. Sorry for all the mistakes with the names. Its pretty hard doing to do in this style labeling all the country's. Also early kingdoms facts are sometimes hidden in Myth.

Today, we're going to discuss the genetic, ethnic, and religious makeup of the countries that are in Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and more. We're also going to touch up on the history of some of these groups and how they came to be in the region.
Southeast Asia is one of my favorite regions in the world to learn about! It's got ethnic, linguistic, and religious diversity not seen elsewhere on the planet, and it's important to learn about!

Episode 2 Info:
0:01 - Pai
Pai is actually in Northern Thailand so we got there later than the edit would suggest. However, I wanted to put it into the beginning as it's a fun contrast to the quiet shots afterwards. It is somewhat of a Hippie-Mecca with lots of alternative tourists but also has this festival which seemed very authentic to us.
1:34 - Bangkok (Part 1)
We visited Bangkok twice on our trip. So there's a lot more to come in Episode 5. This time, it's only a handful of impressions from the rainy days.
2:35 - North Thailand (general)
After Bangkok is was raining a week straight. We were going into the mountains in the north-western Region driving on mud roads and fighting the water inside the car as it was leaking through on many spots. Camping is no fun, when it's pouring.
2:48 - Doi Inthanon
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand with 2565 Meters. But the peak is still covered with high trees so you don't really get any spectacular view. However, the fog within the forest up there made a great scenery.
3:00 - Refugee Kids
We accidentally drove in this area where there was a refugee camp streching over many kilometers at the Myanmar boarder. They wouldn't let us in but we could see many kids playing outside on the streets. Later we found a Myanmar refugee which told us alot about the region and why there are all there.
3:48 - Chiang Mai
This was one of the most fun cities we visited with tons of young native people studying there so we had some great nights going out. Luckily, we didn't film any of it.
After Chiang Mai we drove straight to Chiang Khong all the way North East at the Laos boarder to cross it the next morning.

0:43 - Kuala Lumpur
The city is an interesting clash of cultures, with the Muslim people, the Chinese traders, colonial buildings and a huge modern western influence. If you get a chance to go there, don't miss to eat and drink at Bukit Bintang (2:11), our most favorite place in the city.
2:48 - Port Klang
After 5 days waiting and organizing the handling at the port, we could pick up our Landrover at the harbor. We just bought some supplies before heading North the same day (check out the map below)
4:02 - Cameron Highlands
Already on the next day of driving, we realized that something was wrong with one of the bearings. We had extra parts for the car, however, we couldn't change it on our own. But because of the old colonial days, a majority of those people here in the mountains were driving Landrovers. Those cars were basically everywhere so it didn't take long to find some people that were able to help us. Those friendly locals took us to their house where they had some old-school tools and fixed the bearing. All they wanted in return is to drink some beer with us at a campfire at their house. Good people!
5:18 - Offroad
Our Landrover-friends told us about some "nice little offroad" the next day. And this turned out to be a road that hasn't been used for years. We needed to get dead trees out the way and watch for ditches really carefully. It took us the whole day to get through and in the end, when it got dark we actually managed to slip into a ditch with one wheel. Our trip was almost over already at that time, it was a matter of inches for the car to fall down. I couldn't film this as I was pretty shocked and, of course, we needed work and pull out the car with the winch. But we were lucky enough to get it out and the trip continued.
6:02 - Road North
After the Highlands, we quickly drove all the way North to Thailand, with a little stop-over at Georgetown.

0:14 - Native village
This actually happend in South Laos. We were looking for a place to sleep at the Mekong shore and we found a beautiful spot in a small village. However, it looked like we were in the backyard of someones house so we tried to ask the people in the village if it was okay for us to stay. We were lucky and met an old woman that spoke a little bit of French. She asked the villages chief for permission and then she invited us to have dinner at their house, with a lot of other people from the village. The food was pretty disgusting, but the experience was great.
0:55 - Luang Prabang
This city is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Period.
01:41 - Phonsavan
As we reached the highlands in the Phonsavan region we noticed a drastic change in landscape. It suddenly felt more like Tuscany than any place in Asia. We visited the famous Plain Of Jars there, however, the amazing landscape is the reason you should go!
2:58 - Vang Vieng
This place is heaven and hell at the same time. Located in a breathtaking mountain scenery, it's one of the most magic places we visited on our trip. But it's also heavily crowded with young tourists because of this "tubing" thing. Which is basically drinking as much as you can while spending some time on a tube every once in a while. Probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but we gotta admit, we had tons of fun. Guilty pleasures.
3:45 - Vientiane
Laos' capitol is rather a village than a bustling city. We only spent some time there, biking around and going in random small bars.
4:14 - Don Khong
This is the main island of Si Phan Don, the 4000 islands. The only one we could access by car. It was rather quiet there, however we joined some kids playing football on grass which was covered with cow shit. We didn't have a shower, so jumping into the Mekong river was only hope to get somewhat clean.
4:30 - Khone Phapheng
This is the biggest waterfall in SE Asia. Water-volume-wise. Clemens and Stefan climbed some wires over the river arms which were made for the local fishers and were only attached by one nail to a tree. Looking back, that was probably a bad idea.

This is a village built on the shore of a huge lake surrounded by a magical mangrove area. People live together with their domestic animals in their houses surrounded by water. If they want to visit their neighbors for a drink, they need to use a boat.

Cambodia is a very poor country and finding someone that spoke English was very rare. However, almost everywhere we went, we instantly got surrounded by people. They didn't really talk to us, but loved watching everything we do.

The old temples of the Khmer empire. An exeptionally beautiful experience. But because of this, also incredibly popular among tourists from all over the world. We wanted to feature both sides in this clip.

Cambodias capital isn't exactly a pretty city. Signs of the struggle this country has been going through (and still is) are found everywhere. Our experience there was rather wild, but very interesting.

2:07 - Bangkok
We saw this huge abandoned skyscraper all the time and wondered if we can get up there somehow. Security was low to say the least, so we just climbed in and walked up the 50 stories to the top to enjoy an amazing view with a few beers.
3:09 - Khao Lak
The beach at Khao Lak was our escape from all the cultural intesive traveling we did before. It was pretty much empty there and could camp right at the beach to hang out with the crew of the "Memories Bar". Didn't film much here, it was leisure time.
3:15 - Similan Islands
We went on a snorkeling trip for one day. Next to the beautiful islands and the blue ocean water there, the ladyboys guiding the trip were a big highlight.
3:29 - Phuket
After a week in Khao Lak we thought we needed to see a different beach so we drove down to Phuket without knowing what it really was. Let's just say we left the next day and went back to Khao Lak. That's how nice it was.

Backpacking Around South East Asia
A trip of a lifetime, 3 months traveling around South East Asia! This short video is a summary of our trip to South East Asia. We started in Bangkok and moved to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia, we then rode motorbikes up the coast of Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi stopping in Ha Long Bay. After climbing Mt Fansipan (3143m) we went into Laos, then elephant riding in Chiang Mai and from there, traveled to the islands of Koh Phi Phi, Scuba Diving in Ko Tao, and the full moon party in Ko Pha Ngan! We ended our trip in Singapore, traveling via Malaysia. We had 150gb of footage from the GoPro HERO3, I hope you will enjoy it! South East Asian History begins in the 29th century BC when the first semi mythical kingdom of Xích Quỷ is founded. Over the years Empires rise and fall eventually leading to European colonialism. A trip of a lifetime, 3 months traveling around South East Asia!
This short video is a summary of our trip to South East Asia. We started in Bangkok and moved to the temples of Angkor in Cambodia, we then rode motorbikes up the coast of Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi stopping in Ha Long Bay. After climbing Mt Fansipan (3143m) we went into Laos, then elephant riding in Chiang Mai and from there, traveled to the islands of Koh Phi Phi, Scuba Diving in Ko Tao, and the full moon party in Ko Pha Ngan! We ended our trip in Singapore, traveling via Malaysia.
We had 150gb of footage from the GoPro HERO3, I hope you will enjoy it!

Episode 2 Info:
0:01 - Pai
Pai is actually in Northern Thailand so we got there later than the edit would suggest. However, I wanted to put it into the beginning as it's a fun contrast to the quiet shots afterwards. It is somewhat of a Hippie-Mecca with lots of alternative tourists but also has this festival which seemed very authentic to us.
1:34 - Bangkok (Part 1)
We visited Bangkok twice on our trip. So there's a lot more to come in Episode 5. This time, it's only a handful of impressions from the rainy days.
2:35 - North Thailand (general)
After Bangkok is was raining a week straight. We were going into the mountains in the north-western Region driving on mud roads and fighting the water inside the car as it was leaking through on many spots. Camping is no fun, when it's pouring.
2:48 - Doi Inthanon
Doi Inthanon is the highest mountain in Thailand with 2565 Meters. But the peak is still covered with high trees so you don't really get any spectacular view. However, the fog within the forest up there made a great scenery.
3:00 - Refugee Kids
We accidentally drove in this area where there was a refugee camp streching over many kilometers at the Myanmar boarder. They wouldn't let us in but we could see many kids playing outside on the streets. Later we found a Myanmar refugee which told us alot about the region and why there are all there.
3:48 - Chiang Mai
This was one of the most fun cities we visited with tons of young native people studying there so we had some great nights going out. Luckily, we didn't film any of it.
After Chiang Mai we drove straight to Chiang Khong all the way North East at the Laos boarder to cross it the next morning.

0:43 - Kuala Lumpur
The city is an interesting clash of cultures, with the Muslim people, the Chinese traders, colonial buildings and a huge modern western influence. If you get a chance to go there, don't miss to eat and drink at Bukit Bintang (2:11), our most favorite place in the city.
2:48 - Port Klang
After 5 days waiting and organizing the handling at the port, we could pick up our Landrover at the harbor. We just bought some supplies before heading North the same day (check out the map below)
4:02 - Cameron Highlands
Already on the next day of driving, we realized that something was wrong with one of the bearings. We had extra parts for the car, however, we couldn't change it on our own. But because of the old colonial days, a majority of those people here in the mountains were driving Landrovers. Those cars were basically everywhere so it didn't take long to find some people that were able to help us. Those friendly locals took us to their house where they had some old-school tools and fixed the bearing. All they wanted in return is to drink some beer with us at a campfire at their house. Good people!
5:18 - Offroad
Our Landrover-friends told us about some "nice little offroad" the next day. And this turned out to be a road that hasn't been used for years. We needed to get dead trees out the way and watch for ditches really carefully. It took us the whole day to get through and in the end, when it got dark we actually managed to slip into a ditch with one wheel. Our trip was almost over already at that time, it was a matter of inches for the car to fall down. I couldn't film this as I was pretty shocked and, of course, we needed work and pull out the car with the winch. But we were lucky enough to get it out and the trip continued.
6:02 - Road North
After the Highlands, we quickly drove all the way North to Thailand, with a little stop-over at Georgetown.

Episode 3 Info:
0:14 - Native village
This actually happend in South Laos. We were looking for a place to sleep at the Mekong shore and we found a beautiful spot in a small village. However, it looked like we were in the backyard of someones house so we tried to ask the people in the village if it was okay for us to stay. We were lucky and met an old woman that spoke a little bit of French. She asked the villages chief for permission and then she invited us to have dinner at their house, with a lot of other people from the village. The food was pretty disgusting, but the experience was great.
0:55 - Luang Prabang
This city is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Period.
01:41 - Phonsavan
As we reached the highlands in the Phonsavan region we noticed a drastic change in landscape. It suddenly felt more like Tuscany than any place in Asia. We visited the famous Plain Of Jars there, however, the amazing landscape is the reason you should go!
2:58 - Vang Vieng
This place is heaven and hell at the same time. Located in a breathtaking mountain scenery, it's one of the most magic places we visited on our trip. But it's also heavily crowded with young tourists because of this "tubing" thing. Which is basically drinking as much as you can while spending some time on a tube every once in a while. Probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but we gotta admit, we had tons of fun. Guilty pleasures.
3:45 - Vientiane
Laos' capitol is rather a village than a bustling city. We only spent some time there, biking around and going in random small bars.
4:14 - Don Khong
This is the main island of Si Phan Don, the 4000 islands. The only one we could access by car. It was rather quiet there, however we joined some kids playing football on grass which was covered with cow shit. We didn't have a shower, so jumping into the Mekong river was only hope to get somewhat clean.
4:30 - Khone Phapheng
This is the biggest waterfall in SE Asia. Water-volume-wise. Clemens and Stefan climbed some wires over the river arms which were made for the local fishers and were only attached by one nail to a tree. Looking back, that was probably a bad idea.

0:14 - Native village
This actually happend in South Laos. We were looking for a place to sleep at the Mekong shore and we found a beautiful spot in a small village. However, it looked like we were in the backyard of someones house so we tried to ask the people in the village if it was okay for us to stay. We were lucky and met an old woman that spoke a little bit of French. She asked the villages chief for permission and then she invited us to have dinner at their house, with a lot of other people from the village. The food was pretty disgusting, but the experience was great.
0:55 - Luang Prabang
This city is probably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Period.
01:41 - Phonsavan
As we reached the highlands in the Phonsavan region we noticed a drastic change in landscape. It suddenly felt more like Tuscany than any place in Asia. We visited the famous Plain Of Jars there, however, the amazing landscape is the reason you should go!
2:58 - Vang Vieng
This place is heaven and hell at the same time. Located in a breathtaking mountain scenery, it's one of the most magic places we visited on our trip. But it's also heavily crowded with young tourists because of this "tubing" thing. Which is basically drinking as much as you can while spending some time on a tube every once in a while. Probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but we gotta admit, we had tons of fun. Guilty pleasures.
3:45 - Vientiane
Laos' capitol is rather a village than a bustling city. We only spent some time there, biking around and going in random small bars.
4:14 - Don Khong
This is the main island of Si Phan Don, the 4000 islands. The only one we could access by car. It was rather quiet there, however we joined some kids playing football on grass which was covered with cow shit. We didn't have a shower, so jumping into the Mekong river was only hope to get somewhat clean.
4:30 - Khone Phapheng
This is the biggest waterfall in SE Asia. Water-volume-wise. Clemens and Stefan climbed some wires over the river arms which were made for the local fishers and were only attached by one nail to a tree. Looking back, that was probably a bad idea.

This is a village built on the shore of a huge lake surrounded by a magical mangrove area. People live together with their domestic animals in their houses surrounded by water. If they want to visit their neighbors for a drink, they need to use a boat.

Cambodia is a very poor country and finding someone that spoke English was very rare. However, almost everywhere we went, we instantly got surrounded by people. They didn't really talk to us, but loved watching everything we do.

The old temples of the Khmer empire. An exeptionally beautiful experience. But because of this, also incredibly popular among tourists from all over the world. We wanted to feature both sides in this clip.

2:07 - Bangkok
We saw this huge abandoned skyscraper all the time and wondered if we can get up there somehow. Security was low to say the least, so we just climbed in and walked up the 50 stories to the top to enjoy an amazing view with a few beers.
3:09 - Khao Lak
The beach at Khao Lak was our escape from all the cultural intesive traveling we did before. It was pretty much empty there and could camp right at the beach to hang out with the crew of the "Memories Bar". Didn't film much here, it was leisure time.
3:15 - Similan Islands
We went on a snorkeling trip for one day. Next to the beautiful islands and the blue ocean water there, the ladyboys guiding the trip were a big highlight.
3:29 - Phuket
After a week in Khao Lak we thought we needed to see a different beach so we drove down to Phuket without knowing what it really was. Let's just say we left the next day and went back to Khao Lak. That's how nice it was.
