The Streamy Awards, popularly known as the Streamys, are presented annually by Dick Clark Productions and Tubefilter to recognize and honor excellence in online video, including directing, acting, producing, and writing. The formal ceremony at which the awards are presented takes place in Los Angeles, California. They were the first envelope-opening live-streamed award show.
The Streamy Awards were created by Executive Producers Drew Baldwin, Brady Brim-DeForest and Marc Hustvedt of Tubefilter and Joshua Cohen and Jamison Tilsner of Tilzy.tv.
The winners of awards in over 30 categories, including the Audience Choice and Visionary Award, were announced for the first time on March 28, 2009 at the 1st Annual Streamy Awards. Winners of the 1st Annual Streamy Awards included individual recipients (Best Male and Female Actor), and web series. Each year, certain awards are presented before the main ceremony at the Streamys Craft Awards.
The 2nd Annual Streamy Awards were hosted by actor/comedian Paul Scheer and streamed live online from the Orpheum Theatre (Los Angeles, California) on April 11, 2010. The production experienced technical problems as well as interruptions due to people streaking the stage and interrupting the presenters. This show incorporated an online live internet streaming broadcast. Due to poor reception and execution of the show, the IAWTV halted its production of the award ceremony and formed their own Web TV awards presentation.
Andrew B. Bachelor, better known by his online alias and persona King Bach, is a Canadian-born American actor, comedian, and Internet personality. He is known for being the most followed person on Vine.
Andrew King Bachelor was born to Asian Jamaican parents, both of whom are accountants. At the age of two, his family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida. Bachelor's "strict" Caribbean parents raised him in a Christian household. He attended Coral Springs Charter School for both middle and high school. After graduating Bachelor enrolled at Florida State University, where he was a high jump star athlete. He graduated from Florida State in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. While at FSU, Bachelor became a member of Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Afterwards he enrolled in a graduate program at New York Film Academy, but dropped out in his last semester, and moved to Los Angeles. Bachelor has been noted to have a calm demeanor, contrasting with his exuberant persona portrayed on Vine.
Grace Anne Helbig (born September 27, 1985) is an American comedian, actress, author and YouTube personality. She is the host and creator of the it'sGrace YouTube channel and the audio-video podcast Not Too Deep with Grace Helbig.
Helbig created the 2008–2013 My Damn Channel web series DailyGrace, was a correspondent on Attack of the Show! on the G4 network, played Idol on the Fine Brothers' web series MyMusic, appeared in a series of Lowe's television commercials, co-produced and starred in the feature film Camp Takota, authored two comedic handbooks for Millennials Grace's Guide: The Art of Pretending to Be a Grown-up and Grace & Style: The Art of Pretending You Have It, and created and hosted the 2015 comedy/talk show on the E! television network The Grace Helbig Show.
Helbig was born in Woodbury, New Jersey to John Helbig and Theresa McGinnis. She has an older brother, John, and a younger brother, Tim. She attended Gateway Regional High School in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey. She was a successful track star and medal-winning pole-vaulter.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl is a Sid and Marty Krofft live action science fiction children's television series from 1976. The series aired 16 episodes in a single season as part of the umbrella series The Krofft Supershow. During the second season, it was dropped, along with Dr. Shrinker. When later syndicated in the package "Krofft Super Stars" and released on home video, the 16 segments, which were each about 12 minutes long, were combined into eight episodes.
The program playfully, but deliberately, lampooned the superhero combo of Batman and Robin, taking many of its cues from the earlier Batman television series. The show followed the crime-fighting exploits of female caped crusader Electra Woman (played by Deidre Hall) and her teen sidekick Dyna Girl (Judy Strangis), who worked in their off-time as reporters for a magazine. (The full real names of the two were never revealed in any of the installments, although their first names were--Lori and Judy, respectively.) In each episode, the duo would don skintight spandex in a bright flash of light called an "Electra-Change," get into the "ElectraCar," and use an array of technically advanced gadgets to thwart an eclectic collection of supervillains. They were assisted by Frank Heflin (Norman Alden), a scientist who stayed at their "ElectraBase," operating its highly sophisticated "CrimeScope" computer, a parody of the BatComputer, while keeping in continual contact with the pair through their "ElectraComs."
VH1 (stylized as Vl+1, sometimes as VH-1 and originally an initialism of Video Hits One) is an American cable television network based in New York City that is owned by Viacom Music and Entertainment Group, a unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom. It launched on January 1, 1985, in the old space of Turner Broadcasting System's short-lived Cable Music Channel. The original purpose of the channel was to build on the success of MTV by playing music videos, but targeting a slightly older demographic than its sister channel, focusing on the lighter, softer side of popular music.
The channel was originally created by Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, at the time a division of Warner Communications and owner of MTV. Both VH1 and its sister channel MTV are a part of Viacom Media Networks. While VH1 has played music videos in the past, its recent claim to fame has been in the area of music-related reality programming, such as Behind the Music, the I Love… series, the Celebreality block of programming, and the channel's overall focus on popular culture. As of December 2015, VH1 no longer plays music videos.
